Unlike the other poll for Hagrid’s and Slinky Dog, I’ll abstain on voting, mainly because it is 50/50 for me.

They are both very good rides and quite unique. They are so close in theming, story and immersion that it is pretty much a draw. EE is more of a true coaster so it gets the edge there and Hagrid’s wins in other aspects. Since there is no “draw” or “both”, then neither gets my vote here.

EE is one of my favorite rides. I haven't ridden Hagrid's yet. We'll ride it in December.

I'm confident i will love Hagrid's, but until then EE gets my vote.

Ah, I love this question. But then again I love discussing/ranking/rating roller coasters.

I've been lucky enough to ride about 250 different ones around the world. Most are straight ahead "coasters" - a lift, series of hills, etc. Now we have more intricate theming, launches, and even almost true hybrids with the new(ish) Rocky Mountain Coaster company mashing together old woodies with their steel rail I-beam overlays.

Me, I'm partial to classic out-and-back wooden coasters (a la the Phoenix at Knoebels) or even steel coasters that feel like those (such as Magnum at Cedar Point, which is certainly not for everyone). For what its worth, on any given day my "favourite" coaster may change depending on my mood, but in my experience (and many, many others) the single BEST coaster in the world - by some margin - is Steel Vengeance at CP. That is in a category all by itself.

As to the question - I love both EE and Hagrids, and think they are each outstanding types of a different concept. EE is, as mentioned, a traditional steel coaster but with a (very fun) twist. Hagrids is an example of a heavily-themed, story-enhanced ride utilizing cutting-edge technology.

Which succeeds more? To me, it is Hagrids. The rolling stock, smoothness, integration of the visuals, speed and thrills are all top notch. It's probably the best of this type (granted, there are not a ton out there) I've been on. It's also just so much darn fun.

Off topic, as good as they both are, IMHO Velocicoaster tops all. Best coaster ever built in Florida - just a masterpiece of pacing, taking everything Intamin has learned from building other great rides in the past and perfecting it.

Can't wait to get back to try them all again - EE in a couple weeks and Universal at the end of the year.

I know it's blasphemy, but I prefer EE. I think we just need to ride/experience Hagrid's more. Have only ridden twice. first time, I got nauseous, and wasnt' impressed. second time was much better in the side car, and more fun, but nobody wanted to make the effort to ride it on our last trip. I know I shouldn't factor in the hassle/long waits, but that's the reason we just haven't ridden it more. I'll likely give it a go in Oct, if we can. Otherwise, we love EE. Usually get multiple rides on it in a day.

I also prefer the side car. I got a little nauseous on the motorbike. I can't take how long EE goes backwards though :crazy2: . Hagrid's is the longest I can go backwards. We rode Hagrid's three times last trip. It's fun.

Sorry to reive an older thread, but I am about to go back to America to Disney this time.

I rode Hagrid's and found it find both in the sidecar and on the bike, is EE worse and if so how much worse? my main issue is drops (like I see EE has)

I am excited to ride Guardians and Tron but have issues with EE and Tower of Terror due to the drops (but have to do them as they are the GF's fav rides. Is EE much worse than Hagrids?

Thanks

Nothing wrong with bringing back old threads.

Expedition Everest is more like your old-school roller coasters, yeah there will be drops but I don't recall them being problematic and I'm not a fan of heights. I avoid ToT and Doom but most standard coasters don't bug me.

One caveat, I'm generally not the type to wait for front or back rows but found the front row on EE more intense and I don't want to give away too much but there's a point where the ride pauses and the front right rider can get a good look that had me uncomfortable so if heights are an issue maybe avoid that seat.

Overall if standard coasters are unpleasant for you maybe don't ride EE but it's a great ride if its strictly drops and not heights that bother you.

I’m not a massive fan of coasters, however I had no issue with flight of the hippogriff. Gringotts, The Mummy or Hagrids Bike so if this is similar with just a slightly bigger drop it will be ok

The dark and backwards are fine it’s just exposed drops I hate but if it doesn’t feel like a big vertical drop as such I think it’ll be ok :-)
