Anyone know when or if the Expedition Everest Challenge will take place in 2011?

When I did not see it posted, I called and asked. They are planning on it next year. But they are moving the date. Right now they are working on the Wine and Dine Run. The man I spoke to said that the information probably would come after that race.

They are moving the date again?? Well, I just hope it def comes back next year :)

Awesome news! I'm hoping the date doesn't conflict with DD's dance competition schedule. I'm hoping to book a family trip around it. I think it would be a blast for all of us to do!

I asked the Run Disney rep at the KC Marathon about it. She stated it would be on May 7th, 2011. I have yet to see that posted anywhere, but feel it's pretty accurate information! She also said they will have pretty good deals on park tickets and lodging at choice WDW Resort hotels. As for now I've got it marked in my calendar!

Oh no! :scared1: I was hoping it'd be around the same time as last year but I think May will be too close to finals for me :sad2:

Thanks for the info though :goodvibes

At the wine & dine expo I was told early May too. I wasn't given a specific date, but I figured the first weekend (my guess). Looks like I was right! I would love to see it in writing first on their website before I book a room though.

I so hope this isn't right... it would mean taking the kids out of school for us to do it as a family...

We would be out too since my DD will still be at college. Why move the date-they had to have had enough people, it was a crowd.

Yes just looked it is finals week for her- too bad we were looking forward to it and had another mother dtr team coming too.

June was HOT! The temps will be much better in May. I just wish they would announce the dates already.

Me and my calculater come up with June 5th! A much better date for us since my daughter's dance recital is June 12th... Fingers crossed!

I know! Early June would have worked perfect for us too. I'm like everyone else. Just waiting on the official announcement before we book anything.

So I'm trying to convince my wife to come down and do this. She's not a big runner/athlete type thing but really likes the idea that its more than just a 5K. Does anyone that did it last year have a good overview on what the obstacles were like and the scavenger hunt?

Oh my goodness, it was SO MUCH FUN!!! DO IT! :) I'm doing this from memory so if there are any corrections go ahead and make them but this will give you a good idea of what it was like:

The race started out with a run through the parking lot at AK. I believe the first "obstacle" was a short balance beam on a grassy part of the parking lot. We then continued into the park. It was all very well marked, there were mile marker signs at 1, 2 and 3 miles. Running around in the park was somewhat disorienting. At one point we ran all the way down to a closed to the public area to run the whole way back. That's where the tire obstacle was. Just running through a few tires...no big deal. Between miles 2 and 3 were just some hay bales to jump over...and the final obstacle was the hardest (I thought). You had to crawl underneath some ropes for a short time. At the finish of the run, there were refreshments and you were given a flashlight and your first clue. (Keep in mind the CLOCK WAS STILL RUNNING). The clues took you around the park using different landmarks. Everyone headed in the same AREA but not all the clues were the same. For example, everyone had to go to camp minie mickey but everyone had to go to specific characters.

The scavenger hunt added about another mile and a half or so to the race. My friend and I wanted to do it "pretty fast" but there is no pressure to do anything quickly at all.

It really is a blast. I would DEFINITELY recommend it. If you have any other questions about it, just let me know. I love talking about it! :)

Were there kids there participating? We have a 9 year old and an 11 year old... If my DH and I both were in it, I don't know what I'd do with them if they couldn't go with us...

Thanks for the info!!
