When we went to EE in July 06 at rope drop, we were carefully led by CMs through Asia. When we noticed some "crashers" sneaking through Dinoland, we were perturbed at first, until we saw the Dinoland folks being held up until the Asia group arrived at EE.

So, Are they still using this practice, ie is Asia still the best route to EE at rope drop? What's the best route at other times of the day?

Asia. Always.**

Why?

A. Because it is a SHORTER ROUTE to the ENTRANCE to EE than going via Dinoland entrance.

B. Because if the crowds are building the lines, you will have to WALK PAST them to actually get IN the line, if you come in from the Dinoland direction.

Like many "routes" at WDW the one you come to "FIRST" is not necessarily the one to choose... because of the convoluted direction it may follow.

Despite how it may appear just LOOKING at it, the route through Dinoland is quite a bit LONGER in distance than the Asia route. Enough that if the crowds are pouring in, you'll end up much farther back in the line by the time you reach the queue.

And, if you are there in the morning for Rope Drop, a CM will walk you (and hundreds of your closest friends) back to EE anyway (via the Asia route).

** Unless those going thru Dinoland are at a dead RUN and there are no CM's to stop them.
But still, there could only be a very few that would do this, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for clarifying. I've been reading conflicting reports from many other threads. We've only been to AK once and I really don't remember the distances between the lands, but remember heading back to Asia first the last time.
We are going this trip and plan on being their at rope drop, because we really only want to ride EE, then over to Dinoland for Dinosaur, then off to visit another park.
This will help with my itinerary planning.
thanks :thumbsup2

I have a trip planned for this Dec, and I booked Donald's Breakfastosaurus prior to park opening. The CM explained to me that when we finished eating, we would be held in Dinoland until park opening and then we would be allow to proceed to another rope and held there until the crowd catches up. I think this is probably what you encountered. Those were the people who had eaten breakfast.

I was at the entrance first by going through Dinoland the day it officially opened as CM's held up people in Asia, and no CM's in Dinoland, but that's probably changed by now

They would sell out their breakfast if they would make this a little extra for those who eat. When we had breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table we finished just as they did rope drop into Fantasyland and I think that they let us in before the front gate crowd made it there because there were only about ten other people there and we rode Dumbo twice before any line developed. They didn't even make us get off the ride. They just stopped it and let the others waitin on and we went again. For us, Dumbo twice without a wait was worth the cost of the breakfast.

A) They already often DO "sell out" Breakfastosaurus. And they did before EE was open.

B) They already DO often offer a little "perk" to those eating at Donald's early and wanting to ride EE.
I've posted what it is many times before, but I think I'll just leave it at that for the time being. ;)

The best way to Expedition Everest is through Asia.
