Hi:

DD4 (who'll soon turn 5) will meet the height requirement for Expedition Everest. She's been to some other WDW attractions, but never to an inversed roller coaster, not to mention backwards inverted.

What age were your youngest kids when you took them? Did they enjoy it or had a misserable time?

Thanks for the input.

Mx

I don't have a child that age, but I do think Everest would be a great introductory roller coaster. Yes it does go backwards for a section of the ride, but it's not inverted and doesn't go upside down. Big Thunder at the MK would really be a 1st choice for first roller coaster ride, but it is bumpy and louder (just my opinion) because of it's age. Everest is a smoother ride. I love it!

It's not inverted. It's just a backwards curve (vortex?)

DD rode it as soon as she hit the height limit, but she's a total daredevil. DS5 will be tall enough, but I'm not going to take him on it. He's not a thrill seeker.

For got to mention: Check out a ride video on You Tube! and get her to watch one with you to decide if she wants to do it.

P.S. Inverted means the cars hang from the track. Meaning, the track is above your head. Everest is a little train, like Big Thunder's cars.

DS rode it for the first time at 3 (super tall kid), DD at 4. They both love it!

My neighbour's son rode it at 4yrs old. He did not like EE.

My boys both rode it at 4 and loved it. They started smaller, though. Rode Big Thunder first and went from there.

My dds (8,6) did it earlier this year and were scared out of their mind. I think it may have been where they sat in the dark while the track changes. They liked big thunder mountain railroad.

I think starting with Big Thunder is a very good idea. They're similar in a lot of ways, and you can get a good idea how she'll do.

age 4 for both YDD and ODS. They really like EE which works for now since DH, ODD, YDD and ODS can ride together while I sit out with YDS. I've only been on EE once and that was enough for me. Once YDS is tall enough I'm probably going to have to suck it up and get back on! :scared1:

Last October we were at WDW with a 4 year old and she loved BTM. Her father took her on EE and he said she never screamed on the ride but after the ride she asked her dad if she had to go on it again. He said only if you want to and she said she didn't neet to go on it again she wanted to go back on BTM. She didn't care for EE too much.

I would like to take my daredevil DD on it! I must check her height before our next trip there. She loves BTMRR, Splash, Dinosaur and ToT so I am awaiting the next generation (which only seems to pass down in the female side) to ride with. DS and DH do NOT ride things like EE but on occasion will ride Splash or BTMRR. I think if your child has done the above then EE will be a THRILL!
P.S> I cannot compare BTMRR to EE. BTMRR is a 'runaway train' that just goes very fast and has no LARGE drops - I consider EE very much a roller coaster type ride. But Splash has a lovely big whoopsie daisy heart in your mouth drop - do that and you have a winner for EE!

My DD first rode it when she was 5 and immediately after was exclaiming "that was awesome!" I can't handle the backwards part though, swore I would never ride it again. She made me do it with her this time again and while she still loves it..I swear for real this time I will never ride it AGAIN!!!

My son was 8 and loved it..but his first coaster was a double loop at six flags called the viper and he was 4 half and LOVED it...so he is a daredevil. However he can NOT stand Dinosour

The part in the dark drops backwards 50 feet and it makes a helix. It makes you feel like you are going upside down when you are not.

I think at the age of 4, Expedition Everest may be a little too intense. But that is JMO.

Wow, thanks for sharing.

Imagine how intense it can be, I totally thought I was upside down :rotfl2:

She really likes the Yeti character, and the coaster certainly drew her attention.

I'll give youtube a try (like we did with other attractions) and see how it goes.

Our itinerary takes us first to Magic Kingdom, so I think it will be a good idea to try BTM.

Thanks again for your time,

Mx
