I've been pouring over this forum for the last hour trying to find the help before asking. I hate to be a burden, even though I'm sure most people here are glad to lend an ear. thank you in advance.

I have a current DVC reservation for 15 nights ...........(edited by mod to remove specific details).........Roughly 239 points. One thing led to another and it doesn't look like this dream is coming true this year. I could just cancel the reservation but because of banking from last year, and the chances are not likely we will make it at all this year. I going to lose points on this, unless I sell the banked points at the very least. But with demand so high for BWC we are considering selling the reservation, which is something we have never done before, but these are trying times and Disney just isn't in the cards this year. I know it's a long vacation, so I don't know if a 2 week vacation can be had by a lot of families, but I thought it might be worth a shot since I still have about 45 day to cancel before any serious penalties.

So I guess my question is, should I attempt to sell the vacation as is (which is roughly valued at $6000) but the hotel is fully booked during that time in all categories, or cancel and see if a member wants a transfer of points at the roughly$16-$19 a point? roughly 90 of the points are 2020, and 150 are 2021. Feb use month.

Thanks again for all who help.

Sell as is. Can any of the points be banked to next use year? If so, if people are interested in only the part that uses the points that can’t be banked, then rent that out after severing the other part of the reservation.

that’s a lot of time to spend in one location.

Sorry, if I'm just repeating, but I want to be sure I understand. Keep enough of the trip that uses the 2020 points up and sell that portion of the vacation keeping it at the BWV, and then bank the remander (150) 2021 points?

if you cannot sell the entire reservation, then keep what uses the 2020 points up. Don’t split it just yet until you have a buyer for the 2020 points

That makes sense, Thank you. starry_solo

Not sure what a good asking price would be on that. I see BWV seems to be pretty sought after, and going through the DVC and Disney site the entire hotel is almost completely booked out for every room and every night. I don't want to seem greedy, but I don't want to ask a price that get dozens of people trying to get it all at once. I hate that about Facebook marketplace! I put it on for what I think is a good price and I have 20 people chatting at me at the same time I can't keep up. I am definitely not savvy on social media. Thanks again for the help!

I would suggest the rent/trade board on here before Facebook marketplace.

As for prices, probably somewhere around what would equal $15 per point is my guess, but look at the rent/trade board to see what Boardwalk is going for right now for a similar number of points and it is possible you may need to adjust the price since it is an existing reservation.

I don’t think that it matters that the reservation falls during a sold out time slot. Most likely, it’s because rooms have been moved to cash inventory for breakage, not because the resort is sold out.

Since we are close to 60 days from the beginning of the reservation, I would consider that to be the point where owners drop their asking price dramatically in order to sell before it’s too late. Something is better than nothing.

You can list the reservation “as is” but you may not get a lot of looks given that 15 days is a very long stay for most people. You’re better off listing it for those dates OR fewer nights, minimum X nights (to use up the 2020 points). Then break it down for something like $12/point for the first X nights, $16/point for additional nights (or whatever you price point is for non-distressed points).

Just reminding everyone to read the REQUIRED READING thread on the R/T Board if they decide to use the DISboards to list reservations for rent.

The OP's reservation cannot be listed as you suggest. Each combination of a confirmed reservation offering must be listed separately, in its on thread. There are limits to the number of confirmed reservations that may be listed.

Well, I meant to say that it can be listed for the original dates with an option to shorten the stay if necessary. Maybe I saw this type of post elsewhere and not on the disboards?

This is what I would do!

That option could be conveyed privately (via Conversation (PM) if asked, but may not be volunteered in the public thread. I am not familiar with the renting procedures on other internet forums.

I would bank the February 2021 use year points to the February 2022 use year and then try to rent the February 2020 use year points or transfer them to RCI if renting isn't feasible.

Just curious if someone could answer this, can a vacation that is already booked, be broken down to two different vacations, taking a two week vacation and making it two single weeks?

No. You could drop days and try to pick them back up but an existing reservation can't be split.

Hi I think I have a similar situation to this thread. I have banked points from my Dec 2020 use year (I did that in July 2021) that I used to make a 3 night booking at xxxx - resort removed. If I cancel this booking now, what happens to the points? Should I try and sell the reservation via Davids? Is that possible? Sorry new to this and haven't been able to travel for a couple of years and use my points.

What happens to the points when you cancel depends on how close you are to the arrival date. If you are more than 30 days away, the points go back into your account and all points banked or borrowed will expire on December 1, 2022. Any current UY's points can be banked if before July 31, 2022.

If it is less than 30 days away from the arrival date, they go into holding (cannot be used for a reservation more than 60 days away) and will expire December 1, 2022.

Many thanks Marionette for the clear and fast reply. That's great to know how that works.
The reservation was for late xxxxxx - details removed.
Just to clarify, I have to use the 2020 banked points for a vacation before 1 Dec 2022 or else try and rent them out.

Just wondering how well that works with trying to rent out a reservation on DVC request. I probably would be happy with less than the asking price of $21 per point that they have for similar reservations. Actually would be happy with any amount to get this out of my headspace!! I'd be interested to hear from anyone who's rented their reservation. I don't think I'm wanting to attempt to do that via those facebook groups.
