I really wonder how many hours they spend practicing. It really must be a ton.

Seriously, if you haven't seen this show, you must add it to your list. It reminds me of a Cirque du Soleil-type show but those are incredibly expensive tickets and this one is already included in your park admission!

Right before the FOTLK started, we made a last minute ADR for Tusker House for lunch so we headed over there next. On our way, a couple pixie dusted us with EE FPs but we wouldn't make the return time, so we re-pixie-dusted another couple with them who said they were already on their way there so they were very happy!

We checked in at Tusker House and while we were doing so, there were some women trying to walk up and were turned away. They started complaining about how making ADRs so far in advance sucks because you can never decide to change your mind while on vacation. It made me laugh because we literally made our reservation less than an hour before.

We waited a good bit to be called in but we were sitting outside at a table so we were okay with it. Then, we met Safari Donald again (within the same hour, it's fine).

We got the photo package because we had pre-purchased PP+ so we were happy to have another occasion to use it!

Our server was Neil from Long Island and he really made the meal incredible for us. As soon as we walked in and he was walking us to the table, he turned to DBF and said "Oh great, you're here. I got your email. I'm all set up with the ring so just give me the signal when you're ready!" Then, after we got all confused and DBF was a little flustered he was all "Oh just kidding but don't you feel flustered now!" We sat down and he took our drink orders and we started talking about the fact that we're from Staten Island and he's from Long Island and it turns out he has family 5 minutes away from us! Small world.

He told us to go up to the buffet and get food because no characters were nearby yet. We were more than happy to do so and when we got back, Daisy came around.

Neil made sure to tell us to that'd he'd come over and take the pictures for us so we could both be in it so he was right over to take it for us!

You can kinda see our plates in the picture. I didn't take food pictures because I wasn't well versed in the way of the TR at the time but there were so many different choices and we enjoyed everything that we tried!

From the menu on Allears, I'm gonna say we tried: Curried Basmati rice, Carved beef Top Sirloin Roast, Cape Malay Curried Chicken, DBF had Peri-Peri marinated Salmon filet which he loved and Vegetable Samosa (my personal favorite!), amongst various other things. We aren't really hard to please food people but we seriously had no complaints about anything we got. It was fresh and delicious!

Next came Goofy!

Not sure how this shot came to be but I find it amusing!

Mickey came next and he was one of the highlights for us. When he got to our table, Neil wasn't nearby so we were going to just take separate shots with him but Mickey was intent on waiting. So when Neil came, he took our picture:

Then, Neil told Mickey that DBF was supposed to propose but chickened out of it. I have a promise ring that I wear on my left ring finger so Mickey started pointing all excitedly like "Look, he did it!"

DSCN0903 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

Neil told him, "No, he hasn't done it yet" and we explained that it was a promise ring, so he got a lecture from Mickey.

DSCN0904 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

Mickey decided since Chris wasn't going to propose, he'd steal me away.

He sat me down at the table, and sat in the other seat and kicked Chris away! It was really hysterical and Neil really made our first character dining experience great!

We obviously gave him a great tip and when he brought our card back, he was genuinely touched. He told us he knows how expensive it is for young people to travel to WDW and he appreciated it but we didn't have to do that but we told him how awesome he was. He then gave us 4 drink cups with lids and told us to go to the dessert bar and fill them up. He was all, "You can make up your money in desserts and you'll thank me when you're snacking later!" So we did and they were indeed delicious later that night!

Love FOTLK, but not sure if my others will want to see it (again).

Wow, that sounds like an awesome Tusker House meal! A great server can really make a difference, and the great character interaction helps too. We had breakfast there a few years ago and really liked it too, but lunch sounds awesome as well.

Yay! All my favorite things in two updates, heck yes!!

Love FOTLK, obviously, I cannot wait to be part of that show, it will happen! UGH! So much love for it!!

Also love Tusker house, and lunch gets my vote over breakfast, there's more variety on the menu and it's all super delicious! Love the server, sounds like he was awesome, and oh my gosh take desserts with you, BEST. Awh, that Mickey interaction is seriously awesome, sounds like a blast!!

What an awesome Tusker House meal!! I love it. Such great character interactions!! We love Tusker House too, and while we usually eat breakfast there, we skipped it this trip. I liked trying a couple other places, but definitely missed it.

FOTLK is great. I think it's the best show in the parks. The acrobatics are amazing.

As for the elderly man in front of you...Yeah, no words. I'm sorry you ran into someone so judgmental and rude. :(

Such a cool Tusker House experience! We've never been there before, but we have a lunch ADR in September...SO EXCITED!!

And I did not know Kenny the Pirate had an app! Gotta check that out for sure.

Courtney I loved this update so much!!! Your experience at Tusker House made me so very happy! I love that you had such a great server, such a fabulous experience with the characters and that you enjoyed the food too! Awesome stories! :goodvibes

I'm such dork, I have a huge smile on my face, and I may have teared up a bit seeing all the pictures and what a great time you guys were having. LOVE IT!

As for the grumpy old man-he would have been scandalized if he'd been at WDW with the Brazilian Tour Groups. Their pants were down right obscene! :rotfl: For what it's worth I think you looked cute. :thumbsup2

:wave:Hey Courtney!

Backing up a bit, Presley's Simba pics are beyond adorable! She is just so sweet.:cutie:

Wow, Chip really made Chris blush! I just love how the characters get everyone involved.

FOLK is an amazing show with such talented entertainers. Your pictures remind me of how much I love it, especially the tumble monkeys!

Yay for your last minute Tusker House ADR. The way you describe it, I can just feel your excitement!:hyper: Neil and the characters really made it an amazing experience from start to finish! What a wonderful memory!:yay: pixiedust:

I hope you can convince the others to see it again!

I agree-- having a great server really made the difference. I would like to try breakfast there sometime!

I figured you might enjoy these updates! :lmao: It definitely will happen and then the show will be that much more magical!

It was great! There are so many restaurants, it's hard to find a balance between old favorites and new ones you want to try! I agree about FOTLK being the best show in the parks!

He was very rude! Everyone is of course allowed their own opinions but your opinion does NOT allow you to interfere with someone else's happiness.

Ah it was amazing! I hope you guys love it as much as we did! We're getting so close!

Yes! He has an app on the Android market. I have an iphone now but I was reading on his site that there is some way to download it for an iPhone that I haven't quite grasped yet. I'm a little technology-deficient sometimes. :rolleyes1

Aw thank you so much! I have smiled and teared many a time reading about Maddie's cute interactions so I'm glad I could provide you with some as well! :goodvibes They're definitely memories I will treasure!

Yes he did! :lmao: It was a lot of fun! The tumble monkeys are one of my favorite parts too! The whole show is so excellent, I wish I was seeing it again right now!

I'm glad I could convey the excitement because we really had an amazing time! We still talk about it all the time! :goodvibes

Hi! I read your whole TR last night! I was so glad I found it because we are going in January 2014. I've been wondering how the lines and crowds would be, but it seems like you guys had a lot of fun and got to do a lot of things. I love all your pictures and have been peeking in the backgrounds to check the crowds and look for the dreaded Brazilian tour groups! :rotfl:
Presley is adorable! I love all her little princess dresses!
And what was with the old grumpy guy? You're in Disney-how bad is life, really?! Glad you didn't let him ruin your good time.
Anyway, can't wait to read more!

Wow that's a lot of reading! I'm honored--thank you! :worship:

When in January are you going? If you're going in the beginning of the month, we definitely noticed crowds dropping off more and more as we got further away from the holiday! Even so, we still did plenty and had a great time!

:rotfl2: There were definitely BTGs but we didn't really find them to be a big problem. There were some of them staying at Pop and when I saw them I was like :scared1: but luckily we were always at the food court early enough that they were coming after we were almost done. One time they were taking a bus to the MK and I thought we were in for it but luckily someone was paying attention and sent 3 MK buses at once!

Aw thank you! It was so enjoyable to see her experience the magic for the first time!

Ah I don't know! :confused3 I mean, we all have our moments but you're in Disney! Keep it to yourself and move on! :lmao:

Glad to have you along!

After we left Tusker House, we were so unbelievably stuffed that we didn't even want to move.

We sat outside and watched the Tam Tam Drummers of Harambe for a little bit and they really do a spectacular job! I didn't take any pictures because I was pretty much in a food coma but I was really glad we had taken the time to sit down here because they put on a great show. People were dancing and it was just a good time.

Afterwards we decided to head over to Rafiki's Conservation Station for some slow-paced activities.

We went inside first and talked to this lovely CM and her little friend. I'm not gonna lie, I thought about sticking him in my bag and taking him home with me.

She was great and told us all about the little guy. Sadly, I've since forgotten it all since I didn't write it down. I always think I'll remember the things they tell me about animals in AK cause they're so interested and inevitably I forget and find myself sad.

We also walked around and looked at the different things in there and were talking to another CM who started telling us about all the procedures they do there. We really want to try to see one in September!

One thing I really love about coming over to the Conservation Station is how great the CMs are. They're so knowledgeable and so willing to share their knowledge with you that it's just awesome!

Then we headed into a 35 second line and met our good friend Rafiki!

DSCN0911 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

Then we ran into a NON-FURRY FRIEND! :scared1:

DSCN0912 by RN Courtney, on Flickr
Chris pet him. I watched. I prefer furry friends, thank you very much!

So we went outside to pet some!

DSCN0914 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

I do think it's pretty funny that the map describes it as petting some exotic animals or something like that and it's really just like pigs and sheep which is like any other petting zoo. But, I like petting zoos so why not?

This little guy quickly became my favorite! He had spots!

DSCN0923 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

We were trying to convince him to come play with us.

DSCN0927 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

Yes, we are 5 and followed him around trying to make him be our friend.

DSCN0938 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

DSCN0939 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

There was a nice CM around here that started explained to us how they classify pigs vs. hogs based on size. I never really knew the difference so I thought it was very interesting!

DSCN0941 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

Little Donkey is so cute!

We decided to leave the petting area and washed our hands in the little sink area for approximately ever. :rotfl:

We headed back to the train because we were approaching park closing and we still had our anytime FPs to use so we were going to quickly go to EE! Another couple on the train heard us discussing our plan and they said they had FPs for EE that would expire in 10 minutes so if we wanted to try to make it over there to use them, we were welcome to them. We said thank you and went on our mission!

I think we got there like 3 minutes after the FP window expired but we had no problems using them!

Chris decided he wanted to make some ridiculous ride photos so this is what he came up with.

Photo0906FourBySix by RN Courtney, on Flickr

Then we went on again with our anytime FPs and I don't have our ride photo for some reason? :confused3

It was pretty much park closing time and I decided I had to have the cute yeti stuffed animal to commemorate getting stuck on the ride so I purchased him and we made our way to the front of the park.

But not without stopping for PP on our way of course!

While we were walking out of the park with the masses, Jen, Rick and Presley were somewhere behind us and Presley spotted us somehow and came sprinting after us. She just appeared right next to us and smiled and giggled and scared us a bit! So we all took the bus back together.

I have no pictures from the rest of the day so I have no idea what we did. It was only 5 pm but I'm pretty sure naps happened and I know Rick took Presley to the arcade and then I think there was swimming/eating at the Pop food court.

I know we took advantage of the early night because we were TIRED!

Yay, the goats! I LOVED that petting zoo. Actually, I loved all of the conservation station and affection section. I thought it was great! My ILs actually saw a procedure they did on a bird this year who was having respiratory issues. They said it was super cool.

EE twice in a row--hooray for a little extra pixie dust! No one wanted to ride that with me this year. :( What's wrong with my family?? :rotfl:

Looks like you had a great afternoon!

Aw the little owl is so cute! In fact all of the animals are!

Great ride photo!! And those little Yetis are so cute, so I don't blame you for getting one!

It's good that you had an early night to take advantage of too!

I did too! It's so different from anything else in the park. I know you can find petting zoos anywhere but the Disney CM inside the conservation station and in the petting area are just so great that I think it really makes a difference.

That is super cool! When we were there, the CM was telling us that a lion had been in for a check-up earlier that week and we thought that would have been spectacular to see.

That's so sad! I would've left them and gone on by myself!:rotfl2:

Isn't he just adorable? The Yetis are cute too! I was going to buy one in the morning and didn't so I thought about it all day and I had to have it!

That little owl is just precious. What a nice way to relax.

EE 2Xs!!!! Awesome!:woohoo: You were smart to go back for the yeti. I always want to buy it, decide to pass it up and regret it when I get home.:headache: Guess who's going home with me next time?::yes::

Conservation Station is a nice change from the parks. I love your pics of the petting zoo. That spotted pig is so unusual. It is a pig, right?

Looks like you had a great day!:yay:

We went to Conservation Station for the first time this past trip and just loved it. We won't miss it ever again! Gotta love those furry animals (NOT the snakes...those are not for me!) and the non-existent Rafiki line! It's so calm there.

I know what you mean about scrubbing your hands forever after the petting zoo--I made the kids scrub forever AND use the sanitizing gel! :rotfl2:

We are so excited to see you guys soon!
