"Excuse me, your child can NOT go on stage with Mickey":Jan 2013 TR! updates x 3! 6/5

Cute fairy pics! I might have to jump in there next time. Going to your PTR now!

The fairies are a lot of fun! And I feel like the wait time posted for them isn't always accurate. When we went in, the sign said 45 minute wait but I peeked in and there were only like 3 families in line! :confused3

Glad to have you along for both reports! :goodvibes

That is awesome! :rotfl:

I love the fairy pics! I just finished watching all 4 fairy films for the first time and I am now a fan!

:rotfl2: She's a funny little kid that Presley!

I have to watch the fairy movies still! I think I have one on DVD and I know there's at least one on Netflix! I'm glad you liked them! :goodvibes

Fairy update!! Favsies!!

Whoop! Glad that it all got convinced back to next year! Would have sucked to have to cancel!

Ahahah that’s so cute that she was all “mwahaha” ah! Adorbs! I feel like HM scares so many kids off in the stretching room while the rest of the ride isn’t scary at all! I like it when the adults just cover their eyes/ears so they don’t freak out!

Presley’s adorable! Glad that JC was great! The experience depends SO MUCH on the skipper! We had a GREAT,not to mention super attractive one in Sept and it was awesome, in Feb the guy had such a thick accent you couldn’t understand him. SO SAD it’s going to be closed this Sept!!

Oh my gosh that Peri is PERFECT! Ugh, I miss her so much, I do wish they’d add her into the rotation, she’s just too cute!

Super cute update!! Gonna pop over to the PTR now!!

Omg I would've died if I had to cancel for this wedding! Under any other circumstance I would be ok with it, like a wedding is a valid reason to postpone a vacation but this wedding is just a disaster waiting to happen :scared1:

Ah it was so adorable! Yeah, on the dark rides like HM and POTC, she was more nervous than scared but with a little distraction, she LOVED them. I was so proud!

I'm really really sad JC is closed in September! I just discovered it in January and I was really looking forward to going on again! Oh well, guess I'll just have to plan more trips now! :lmao:

That Periwinkle WAS perfect and so adorable with Presley (and us!)

So after leaving Pixie Hollow, we headed to Main Street to catch Wishes and Celebrate the Magic.

I know when we got to Main Street they were already doing the first showing of Celebrate the Magic but then they were giving Wishes and doing Celebrate the Magic again 15 minutes after Wishes so we weren't too concerned.

We figured we'd just stand on the pathway from Adventureland to Main Street off to the side to watch Wishes since the front of the castle was pretty crowded and we didn't want to go trampling around people but a CM was leading people to places to stand on Main St so we followed!

I couldn't resist taking castle pictures while we waited!

As you can see it was pretty crowded! For the most part people were well-behaved and polite though. Although, at some point while we were waiting, a group of women, probably around our age plopped on the floor with their children and then started yelling at everyone standing in front of them that they should sit down because they were blocking the view for the children. :confused3 I'm not really sure how they thought that was gonna work. I mean, the people were standing way before they were sitting. Whatever!

She was SO excited about the lights on the castle!

Poor Presley was so excited while we were waiting, but she really only tolerated it until she saw Tinkerbell fly. She didn't cry or scream though. She covered her ears and watched only out of the corner of her eye while she hid on daddy's shoulder and then she was fine. I was impressed!

Once the magic was over and I had tears, I looked over and saw that Jen was wiping away tears too! No one is immune to Wishes! We all clapped, including Presley who clapped and yelled "YAY no more boom!" :rotfl2:

We had 15 minutes until Celebrate the Magic was starting so we moved to the side in the interest of not being trampled by the herds leaving Main Street. MK was having EMH tonight but Chris and I were deciding to just leave after Celebrate the Magic because we were exhausted. Jen and Rick were deciding what to do and the nicest woman came up and gave us like 14 FPs for Peter Pan and Dumbo! It was so nice of her but Jen and Rick decided they were going to head over to Tomorrowland so we weren't going to use them so we handed them off to another large family who looked like they were headed for Fantasyland and they were so happy! Yay for spreading the magic!

So they headed off to do that and we watched Celebrate the Magic. Unfortunately, I took pictures and video of the show and I just couldn't get the settings right so most of them are pretty bad quality.

I really love Celebrate the Magic. I liked the Magic, the Memories and You ok when I saw it but I feel like I lot of the magic of that one was lost on you if you weren't really close up to see the pictures and such. Celebrate the Magic just feels like Disney to me. The music is catchy. It has all the Classic movies and the new movies. It has Walt. I love it. If you haven't seen it, you really should! pixiedust:

So after the show was over and I stopped tearing, we made our way down Main Street.

But not without 100,000 castle pictures first. Seriously, it's kinda a problem. I can't see the castle and not take pictures.

Oh and we stopped multiple times on Main Street at the PP guys. I mean, what is the photos from one of them were all bad? We have to have ones from a different angle just in case, right?

The argument was lost on Chris too. He just sighed and gave in. Smart boy.

We exited the park and there was a Pop Century bus waiting when we got there that wasn't full! Yay! And I don't have any more pictures for the night so I assume we went back to the room and just crashed! Tomorrow, we head to AK!

YAY I made it through just to find a new update!!!

following along here as well!

I opened the update and was all "yay wishes" and then you were all 'star light, star bright" and I was in tears like, my FEEEEEEEEELLLSS

Your Wishes pictures are fantastic!! I'm glad you liked Celebrate the Magic! We should definitely do the evening festivities together in Sept on the twelfth! :cool1: Then we can at least have the "HEY! She's crying too" if anyone thinks we're weird...:rotfl2:

Wow! What a beautiful update! I don't know how it happens but I can see Celebrate the Magic and Wishes repeatedly and never tire of them. And Castle looks amazing with those icicle lights. Just gorgeous!:earseek:

Thanks for the wonderful pictures; there are never too many, just beautiful.

You sound like you had a wonderful night. And things were really going your way. And 14 FPs?! Way to spread the magic!:yay:pixiedust:

I'm headed over to your PTR now...popcorn::

Thanks for posting.

I'm not sure how I missed the castle show last trip. And I only have the faintest recollection of Wishes. I have no idea what we were doing. I'm really going to have to make up for that this trip.

Hi-- new reader here. I just read your whole TR! Love it!!! Love all the pics! You and your boyfriend are so adorable--love how you do all the character meets. Awesome! Presley is super cute too!

We are going back next month and will be at pop part of the time. Your pics are making me really excited! Can't wait to read more!!

Ah I can't even deal. I've been watching Wishes and Celebrate the Magic on Youtube so often recently and there are tears EVERY TIME. And I tried to show the videos to my sister and she was just like "oh ok, yeah they're pretty AND TURNED THEM OFF". Ugh I need to get that girl to Disney and fix this.

UM YES! We definitely need to do that!!! The main reason we're going to MK on the 12th is for MSEP/Celebrate the Magic/Wishes so that's the best idea ever!!

I 100% agree-- I could watch them all day! :goodvibes I love the icicle lights, it's actually going to be weird in October to see it without them!

Ah that's soo soon! How exciting! What dates are you going? We really enjoyed Pop--I hope you have a magical trip! :goodvibes

This morning, we were headed to Animal Kingdom! There were EMH starting at 8 so we were up around 6, went to the food court at Pop to eat and headed out to the buses.

We had made a fateful decision before leaving our rooms this morning. Every day prior, we had brought sweatshirts/jackets and ended up carrying them halfway through the day. So, we checked the weather this morning and said "Well, it seems like it's going to be warm. Let's just leave our sweatshirts in the room today so we don't end up carrying them."

WORST IDEA EVER. We were FREEZING COLD. Waiting for a bus to come never seemed so torturous before ever. We started talking to the people next to us in line for the bus. They were a nice couple who lived in Florida and took their grandson to Disney when he came to visit them. Best grandparents ever! They laughed at our rookie mistake.

After what seemed like an absolute eternity, the bus came and we were at AK at 7:40. There were no lines for the bag check and turnstiles.

Yay Animal Kingdom. I had no idea the Rainforest Cafe served breakfast but I guess there was no wait!

DSCN0769 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

We were held by Discovery Island waiting for RD and luckily there was a little stand there where we got coffee and hot chocolate while we were waiting.

DSCN0770 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

RD came pretty quickly after that and we headed to Kilimanjaro Safaris with our warm beverages in hand. The ride was a walk-on and I was a little annoyed because this couple insisted the CM let them sit in our row with us even though she was gonna have them wait 30 seconds for the next tram car. Every time I started taking a picture, the woman seemed determined to get in it:

DSCN0771 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

DSCN0774 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

Grr. Whatever, I moved on.

I really enjoy the safari. I know some people say it's a glorified zoo but one of my best friends from college spent over a year in Africa volunteering and she said that Disney did a pretty amazing job recreating it. So, I appreciate the time and energy that had to go into that. Also, I remember hearing that Walt wanted to have live animals on various attractions but obviously it was too difficult so that's where animatronics came into play and to me, Animal Kingdom is the way to fulfill that vision of Walt's.

Ramble over now. Onto the safari pictures:

No dancing on the safari please. Although, I'm pretty sure I read about the scary protocol for what happens if someone falls off the safari in the alligator area in Jess' CP report and I think this is one ride I'll follow their warnings on!

I may have taken enough pictures for a 2 week safari but it was really only 8:25 at this point, so off to Expedition Everest it was.

As you can see from our ride photo, I stopped on the way there to buy a sweatshirt. It was just too cold to deal with anymore and as an added bonus, the sweatshirt was cute.

I think there was maybe a 5 minute wait for EE.

Photo0750FourBySix by RN Courtney, on Flickr

When we got off, the line was still incredibly short so we decided to just go on again!

This turned out to be a VERY SCARY decision.

An awesome but cold morning in AK! I like the sweater! Cute! The safari pics are great, and I did hear about the procedure with the gators, so creepy! I would NOT want to witness that!!

I love the zebra pic, it looks amazing the way they're all lined up. (of course the food in front of them doesn't hurt) Hey wait! Does that work for family pics too? I can never seem to get everyone lined up and looking in one direction.:confused3 :lmao:

Great ride pic. Your sweatshirt is super cute. Looks like the ladies behind you were prepared, gloves and all!:upsidedow We learned to bring our ponchos no matter what the forecast is too.:umbrella:

Glad you had a great day in AK (DAK), despite the cold.:cold: pixiedust:

YOu saw LIONS! AWAKE!!!! I think that has never happened to me.

It's so wild to think about it being cold at WDW. Since I've only been there in May and September, that's such a foreign concept to me! I do love your sweatshirt, though, so maybe it's a good thing you made the decision to leave yours behind!:thumbsup2

Now you've left us hanging--why is it a scary decision!?!?!?!?!?!

Aha they were definitely more prepared than I was but the sweatshirt was cute so I guess it all worked out. I guess we won't have the cold problem in September but I'm definitely carrying ponchos!

Thank you! Yes it was a great, cold day :goodvibes

AH I know! I was so excited about it, I couldn't stop photographing them. You could probably put a flip book together of them :rotfl: But we were definitely more amused by them than they were with us.

It really was SO cold. So odd. But yeah, a good excuse for a new sweatshirt so I guess it was a win-win :lmao:

As soon as I upload the pictures for the next update, I'll post our scary :scared1::scared1: adventure!:goodvibes

Yay! Animal Kingdom! And the safari! I LOVE THE SAFARI. Also love EE! Am hoping my 10 year old is game for it again this year. When he was 8, he loved it and we rode it multiple times. When he was 9, we rode it once, but only once, because he said he didn't remember the drop being so big. So I hope he wants to do it again! He's my only hope--my 7 year old is NOT into thrill rides (yet?). But I think we'll be good to go. ;)

I am chuckling at your mishap with the sweatshirts--not AT you, not at all; please don't get me wrong! it just always strikes me as so odd hearing about how Disney can be cold! We only go in the summers and of course it's boiling hot then (we'll be at Pop at the end of July). It wouldn't even dawn on me to bring cold weather clothes to the park! :rotfl: But nevertheless, I'm sorry you guys were freezing. Hooray for coffee and hot chocolate--and for cute sweatshirts to buy in the park! :)

I love all your pics--so looking forward to more! :)

You got some great castle and firework shots, wow! I'd love to take a Christmas trip sometime. I've seen WDW and DL all autumn-ed up twice now, and both times it's still felt like summer to me, haha.

DH is the chief photographer on the safari when we go. Great rhino pic. I'm nervous about your Everest foreshadowing

:rotfl2: Even if you were laughing at us, I wouldn't be offended! :goodvibes It was a pretty comical morning!! I couldn't believe how cold we were! And the rest of the trip, we were dying it was so hot. Orlando weather sure is strange!

Thank you so much! Glad you're enjoying! :goodvibes

I wish I could leave DBF in charge of photography! He has a tendency to just kinda press the button without looking at what his picture looks like!

Ah I'll post about our Everest adventure soon!

So as we left off, we had just gone on Expedition Everest and decided to go on again. We walked through the queue, got up to the loading area and boarded the car as usual.

Then, it happened. One of my worst fears come true. Yup, WE GOT STUCK.

Right here.

IMG_20130107_092016 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

Before that, I'd only gotten stuck on one ride ever: the Ferris wheel at one of those temporary carnival deals where no one should ever probably go on the rides since they pack them up and move them around. But it was one of the most terrifying experiences because I was stuck right at the top.

So I had a panic attack for a minute, and then did what any of us probably would. Retrieved my camera and phone from my bag to photo-document, video and Instagram the occassion :rotfl2:.

The girls behind us did the same thing and were on Twitter I guess and said "Wow 3 people already hashtagged #stuckonEverest !" The power of social media.

Our panic turned into amusement with the situation pretty quickly.

They kept saying we'd be moving shortly but finally after about 15 minutes, they announced we'd be evacuating!

So we were evacuated and given anytime FPs and we went on our way!

After we (narrowly) escaped our yeti experience, we decided to head over to Dinoland.

We went on Primeval Whirl first because we actually really enjoy it! It's like one of those "crazy mouse" designed roller coasters (which I'm pretty sure I decided based on my Roller Coaster Tycoon experience :rotfl2:) but it like whips you around the turns which can be kinda painful but it keeps it interesting. Plus, if you read the signs that are along the track, they're just plain comical.

Then, we headed to everyone's favorite/least-favorite dinosaur ride.

DSCN0856 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

DSCN0857 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

I remember while we were in line here, I decided to try to track our wait time and submit it to the Lines app but I couldn't find the "End timer" button when we got to the loading area so I guess I failed.

Photo0763FourBySix by RN Courtney, on Flickr

Only one person in our car looks legitimately scared about the huge dinosaur coming to attack us. I'm disappointed.

On our way out of Dinoland, we had to visit our favorite dog friends.

DSCN0854 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

Please look at the facial expressions of the family waiting behind us!

Photo0752FourBySix by RN Courtney, on Flickr

Photo0753FourBySix by RN Courtney, on Flickr

Photo0761FourBySix by RN Courtney, on Flickr

As a side note, it doesn't really make sense to me that Pluto and Goofy meet in Dinoland. I mean, yeah they're dogs but they wouldn't be around in the dinosaur era.

Our next destination was more character hunting! When we got to the Pooh friends walkway, there was an older CM waving people down saying there was no wait but most people were still ignoring him and moving on!

On our way down the walkway, a foreign family was behind us and the kids sprinted in front of us, which kinda annoyed me but I was planning to let it go because really, there was no line, but then their parents were talking about how they just cut us and one of them was like "Oh they won't care, they don't have kids with them anyway". So I was really annoyed then so we decided to just walk in front of them and take our place in line back.

After us, the characters went inside to get honey, so the annoying family behind us had to wait for them to come back. Petty, but I was a little happy about it.

Since they were going in for honey, we followed them up the walkway!

DSCN0865 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

Tigger was totally standing behind this lady tapping her for the whole walk and she never even realized!

Eeyore's still sad, even after getting his honey.
