Excuse me, you'll need to see security. What has Mickeystoontown done? Update 3/25x2

Hey Lisa!

I've been watching for Spring discounts right along with you! I did get a PIN in the mail, for 35% off rooms. Unfortunately, with the boys school schedules (Dan being a senior I had to schedule around AP tests, prom, etc), it looks like we will be going the week right after our Spring Break. We will arrive in WDW on April 8....the PIN code was not valid for that week. So...we booked an offsite townhouse, 3BR, 2BA, in Windsor Hills. :cool1: I'm nervous about staying offsite but excited too! We are also driving, so it will be a very different trip for us. BUT....I HAVE A TRIP BOOKED!! :cool1: :cool1:

Sadly, we'll miss meeting you.

I agree that staying somewhere that Mama is comfortable with is important. Plus...you LOVE CBR so it's a no brainer. There will be other trips for a change of scenery!

I hate being behind on your TR! Some of the fun is reading the comments, but I'm caught up now!

I'm sorry about your Aunt, She is with the Lord and is whole.

I know I commented on FB about your Momma's eye surgery, but I'm glad she doing well, and thinking about returning to WDW.

Jesse's Jesus was hilarious! How many flyer miles does he have?:lmao:

What a fun time to have the whole family together and enjoying MK. I think Jesse fitting in is the cherry on top.

Kadence watched the Country Bears on TV one day and said she wants to go see them the next time we go, little does she know how soon that will be, but I looking forward to experiencing it for the first time!

So glad to hear Mama's eye surgery went well!

Loving your time at the Magic Kingdom so far. While I admit it has been a few years since we have enjoyed the Country Bears and Tiki Birds attractions (our 2004 trip, I believe), I think it is great that you initiated Jesse to the classics.

I forget that I have to explain the food pictures to "normal people". I was showing my hairdresser my photos from my last Florida trip and I had pictures from Kona. I said "If I'm paying $170 for a meal, I'm gonna take pictures of it so I can remember it forever" She loved that line and repeats it when we talk about food pictures.

Hello! I'm a total slacker! I haven't had a chance to post replies or an update in what seems like forever. The first thing I did when I got to the office this morning, was start writing an update. Well, actually, I turned everything on first and then started. I'm hoping that the bossman will run later than normal today so that I can get it done. I want to get at least two updates posted before the end of the week to make up for my slackerism. (totally made that word up :rotfl:) Okay, let me get back to typing!

Did you bring me any crawfish honey?

It started to sprinkle rain when we left the Haunted Mansion but I wanted to get Fastpasses for Big Thunder Mountain so Lacey and I grabbed everybodys KTTW cards and set out for the Fastpass machines. The guys decided to hang around in the little gift shop outside of The Haunted Mansion while we were gone. Lacey and I took the wooden walkway and were able to dodge a lot of the traffic by doing so. What we didnt dodge, though, were the smoking areas located along the walkway. I had forgotten about them. We were walking at a good pace though so we didnt stay in the smoke filled areas for long. Fastpasses in hand, we walked quickly back the way we came.

The guys had long since left the shop and were standing underneath the covered walkway that goes between Fantasyland and Liberty Square. Because it was still sprinkling rain, we decided to go over to Its A Small World as did lot of poncho wearing folks. Our ponchos were still in the locker being protected by The One....remember....Jesus. If it started raining harder, one of us would have to sprint up front to get them. I had a feeling that the sprinter would be me since Im the fast walker of the group.

We ducked into Its A Small World and squeaked our way down the ramp which was damp from the drips from everybodys ponchos. Before too long, we were loading into our boat, waving at the castmember above us and were off into the Tiny Tiny World! What did you say, Lisa? Tiny Tiny World? Yep, thats what Jesse kept singing. He had seen an episode of Family Guy which was a parody of Its a Small World. Heres a synopsis of the episode:

The Courtship of Stewie's Father", Stewie Griffin is abducted by park officers and changed into the outfit of the children, who turn out to be real children from many ethnicities, and is forced to sing the ride's theme song, also called "It's a Tiny World" under threat of being cast in a Christmas movie co-starring Tim Allen. Later, Stewie notices his father Peter riding, and calls out to him. Peter then liberates his son and the other children.

Ive never watched a single episode of Family Guy but from what Jesse was describing, the episode sounded pretty funny. Anyway, Jesse would sing Its a Tiny Tiny World every now and then. Me? I took pictures:

By the time the ride was over, we could see that the clouds in the sky were darkening so the decision was made to start walking to the front of the park so that we could retrieve the ponchos. But, of course, we couldnt pass up Mickeys Philarmagic especially since the castmember said that the show was just about to start. We walked straight through the queue, picked up our 3D glasses, and walked into the waiting area where the doors were just opening. Ahhh, I love this show! I can't help but sing along, sniff the wonderful apple pie scented air and, if I thought that nobody would think I was crazy, Id reach out and try to grab the strand of pearls and jewels as they floated by. Love love love it!

We walked back out into the liquid Florida sunshine a/k/a rain. Oh gracious! I guess we should have just made a beeline for the lockers and not stopped for the show. Who am I kiddin? Id have kicked myself if we had missed Philarmagic and never had a chance to go back so Jesse could see it. Wed just have to walk fast to the locker. And, fast we did until BAM! We ran into people waiting for the parade. We didnt even think about it being close to parade time. We zigged, zagged, ducked, tucked and wiggled our way through the people and through the stores until we were at the front of the park and to the lockers.

At the locker, the ponchos were passed out, Jesus was gently placed back into the locker and we were off again. We didnt get far, though, because we were directly on the parade route. We decided to cross the hub and stand near the Fire Station since thats where the parade ends. That was a great decision since we had a really good view of the parade as it passed by. I didnt get a ton of pictures because it was raining but I did take a few:

Jesse thought that the parade was awesome despite the fact that it was raining. I sometimes forget how fun it is to watch the afternoon parades. It took me seeing it through the eyes of a “newbie” to realize it again. I took two pictures before the left the hub:

We, along with scores of others, made our way back up Main Street. It was almost time to use our Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Fastpasses. When we got to Casey’s Corner, we turned left and then took the bridge across to Liberty Square. Just at the foot of the bridge, John stopped dead in his tracks. Why? John had just laid eyes on a beautiful Southern Bell. Tiana was out for meet and greets and John said that he was getting his picture taken with her even if it meant we went to Big Thunder without him. Of course, we weren’t going to miss seeing John fawn over the Louisiana Princess.

We waited for two other little girls in front of John to see her and then it was John’s turn (it sounds so funny even typing that). I took pictures as did the Photopass photographer. As you can see in the pics, Tiana and John had quite the conversation going because they are both talking in the pictures. My pictures:

The next set of pictures were taken by the Photopass photographer. Tiana asked John where he was from because his accent sounded just like her’s. When John told her that we were from Louisiana, she asked “Did you bring me any crawfish honey?” to which John said “Naw” and they both got tickled:

We bid Tiana adieu because she had other princesses and princes to meet. And, we had Fastpasses that we had to use! Oh snap! Our Fastpasses had expired! What now?

**Up next: Oh my gosh Mom! You look like Hannibal Lector!

I really had zero interest in seeing the Country Bear Jamboree, but after seeing it in several of your TRs, I think I might give it a try. Especially since I *think* I may have seen it when I was about 4...

Definitely give it a try! It's corny but fun!

I'm agreeing with Mel! I've NEVER seen Country Bear Jamboree, but will try to squeeze it in next trip. :goodvibes

Glad Jesse is enjoying himself and understands the importance of food pictures! :rotfl2:

I was very pleased that the newest addition to the family understood the importance!

I have seen the Tiki birds and the Country Bears once, each. As I was reading your update I thought maybe I should see those attractions again, and then you mentioned the sweat smell. So,,,,Maybe not! :rotfl:

Love your pictures of the HM queue. Those statues look awesome. They look like they should just start talking. :lmao:

Oh yeah - how about a burger with your condiments?

You've left for your vacation! Have a great time!

Oh, yes, forgot to mention that. It's great that Jesse fits right in and "gets" the food pictures. :thumbsup2

He's a keeper, for sure!

/

How come the face characters on the floats get umbrellas, yet Lady Tremaine and her lovely daughters are left prancing around in the rain with no protection? :confused3 I guess it just doesn't pay to be mean to the princesses! :crazy2: :rotfl:

I LOVE that John wanted his own Princess encounter! princess:

So glad to hear Mama's eye surgery went well!

I laughed when you talked about showing your pictures to the hairdresser and came upon the food pictures. I have a digital picture frame and, whenever the food pictures come up, our guests look at them like "what does she have pictures of food for?". :rotfl:

I hate being behind on your TR! Some of the fun is reading the comments, but I'm caught up now!

I'm sorry about your Aunt, She is with the Lord and is whole.

Thank you! I talked with my Uncle last week and he said that they are all coping very well because they know there is no more suffering.

Jesus has been all over the place. I think the furthest he has traveled with Jesse is Argentina.

Oh I can hardly wait for the surprise reveal!

I hate to hear that you couldn't use the pin! That's a great pin that you received! Like you said, at least you have a trip to Disney planned and a cruise to go along with it to boot. You know that we love road trips and I hope that your drive is uneventful. Well, as uneventful as it can be with three boys. ;)

Well I have had so much going on I was behind. River's b-day was on Wednesday, on Thursday River's father's mother died. Family came from all over. River's b-day party was on Saturday and the viewing was also, its been a stressful week I know you can understand. But now on to the happy stuff.

You really make me lol sometimes with the stuff you come out with like singing Areosmith!

When I saw that food tray my first thought was these people are serious about their fixins!

That's good Jesse didn't think you were having a psychotic episode when he saw you taking pictures of the food!

When I read about the waiting room for Country Bears it reminded me of you other tr when you got stuck next to the stinky stinkertons.:crazy2:

I love all the old school Disney attractions! I really like to do everything at least once on every trip if possible.

I think you are doing the right thing by switching back to CBR if that's where mama is comfortable and knows her way around.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss!

Oh we are very serious about our fixin's at Pecos Bill's! There are hardly ever any condiments left over by the time we finish up.

I love the old school attractions too and it made me smile when Jesse was seeing them for the first time.

Unless Mama decides that she would rather stay somewhere other than the CBR, then we'll keep the reservation as is. I want her to feel 100% comfortable with the resort choice.

Had pages and pages to catch up on!! I love the Jesus story! I also love when you have someone new to show all the amazing things at Disney! I laughed about Jessie getting the food picture taking! That is what happened with the band in March. They even started shoving their plates in front of me! It was so funny!

Jesse did the same thing as the band members did to you. He'd let me take pictures of the food before he even touched it. :lmao:

Hi Lisa!!! That's a bummer about the discount! I'm hoping for a better one myself. Still haven't officially booked yet. Lol! I am in shock that you want a change of scenery!! Lol! I never thought the day would come!! That day hasn't come for me yet! Lol!

I have a question for you....what are your thoughts on the DDP vs paying oop? We plan on doing at least one TS a day, breakfast in the room each day. Worth getting the dining an or just pay oop? So confused!!!! Lol!

I forget...did you book your trip yet? I am keeping my fingers crossed that the CBR is in the card for you.

I've always said that the dining plan works for us but it doesn't work for others. If you are planning on at least one TS meal a day, I'm thinking that it would pay off in the long-run for you. The first thing that I'd suggest you do is go to www.allearsnet.com and look at the menus. The menus have the prices listed so you can make out a spreedsheet. If it comes even close to what you would pay out of pocket, I'd get the plan for the convenience of it, if nothing else.

I was waaayyyyy behind--about ten pages to be exact! After fifteen minutes or more, of going through each page, stopping to read your updates, skimming over the chatter, I am finally caught up!

First, I know how glad you were for Jesse and Lacey to finally arrive. I had to laugh at your borrowed pictures from the gift shop, because I noticed the condoms and I just am left wondering....I've always taken kids with me, so, (A) there will not be any ___ with them in the bed next to me, and (B) I don't even to begin to have enough energy for that when I'm at Disney. TMI, I know!

Glad y'all were able to show Jesse Disney, McBride style! :) Great PP pics of all of you!

You are so funny! I thought the same thing about the condoms. No hanky panky going on while we are in Disney! :rotfl:

I loved the Photopass pictures of the five of us and am so glad that I pre-paid for the Photopass CD so that we could take all that we wanted.

Country bears...that is one of Skips favorites. He loves Big Al and that song too. I prefer to skip it, but I go in every so often. Claire loves it too.

I am so sorry to hear about both of your Aunt's. What a hard time it has been, but they are in a better place now.

I just read the Via Napoli update. I am so gald you liked it. Claire and I have that as an ADR on our last full day. I am excited to give it a try. The dessert you had is the one I want to try too.

Yay for Lacey and Jesse arriving!

I have to laugh at the store pictures. Trojans in the "must need" area just cracks me up.

Hey Lisa...finally getting a chance to start catching up..I am at least 10 pages behind.

I am laughing at all the irons that got confiscated. I would've threw it right back in my families face too.

I'll help John Take out the bags next time. I'll even settle for a $40 tip instead!

I am glad Hunter enjoyed his cruise. That makes it totally worth it.

As soon as you said you ate at Electric Umbrella I thought to myself..."Is that where she lost her tooth?" :rotfl:

Ok...still a ways to go to catch up, but If I don't comment every so often i will totally forget.

Jen, aren't you glad that I'm such a slow writer? ;) I would have schleped the bags to the car if I had known John was throwing $50 tips out! :p

We are slowly but surely coming around to the idea of a possible cruise in the future. You can be sure that it won't be during one of John's medication transitions though. :crazy2:

Definitely order the same dessert that I did when you go to Via Napoli. Those little puffs of pastry are soooooo good!

I wish I worked 9-5 too!

I can definitely understand sticking with CBR if Mama feels more comfortable there. I also understand the desire for a change of scenery. Important thing is you've got something booked and can change it if you want!

You and I know, as mothers, that even if we did go to work everyday from 9 to 5, we'd still come home and have to work even more. I often say that I'm going home from the job that pays to the job that doesn't pay.

I'd really like to give another moderate a try but I want Mama to be comfortable. She knows her way around the CBR and that's important to us since she likes to spend time at the resort while we are at the parks.

I just wanted to pop in and say that I have fallen so terribly behind.

I am going to try and catch up soon!

No worries! I've found myself reading a lot of the trip reports but not posting.

Great update, Lisa!!!

I love John's pictures with Tiana! Can he be smiling anymore? :thumbsup2

Every once in a while, we'll hit the afternoon parade. I won't stake out a spot early for it, but sometimes we just seem to time it right. We used to leave really early in the mornings to drive to WDW so we'd get there in the early afternoon. MK was always our first park and we'd usually get there as the parade was hitting Main Street. It was a nice way to start off our vacations!

Can I tell you how lucky I feel to have two little girls who still grab for the jewels and the necklace? It means I can do it, too, without looking crazy. :lmao:

Lisa, I'm all caught up again...finally.

I love that Jesse carries the Jesus doll with him and Jesus certainly deserves his own pictures in the MK!

I'd not done the Swiss Family Treehouse in years (Mark and stairs do NOT get along) and went with the girls in January and really enjoyed it as it's been updated since the last time I saw it.

Jesse reminds me of a big teddy bear and I just want to give him a big squeeze. :goodvibes

Glad that Jesse understood the food porn...that is most important in these TR's.

We try to do Country Bears once every trip as well. Unfortunately, it was down when we were there last month, but hoping to see it at Christmas (I believe it is a different show).

Mama has to skip the treehouse as well because she can't climb the steps either.

Jesse is a big old guy and has the heart of a teddy bear, that's for sure!

Oooh I forgot that they changed up the Country Bears show for Christmastime! You gotta make sure you go and take lots of pictures!

Hey Lisa,
I've been away from the boards for a while. We just got back from our 10-night trip this past Sunday and boy do I have the post-Disney World funk!!

Anyhow, I decided I'd get caught up on your report to help get out of the funk. You've had a lot going on in your life lately. I'm sorry to hear about the death of your aunt and am thankful Mama's eye surgery was a success.

Your meal and desserts at Via Napoli looked yummy! The pizza is delicious there, but haven't tried any desserts, I will have to next time!

Yay for Lacey and Jesse's arrival -it's good to see the whole gang together having fun! Like others have said, I love the picture of Jesus and the rest of ya'll on Main Street! It's evident from the smiles that you are in the Happiest Place on Earth! Making the Swiss Family Tree House your first attraction is awesome! I'm glad y'all were taking your time showing Jesse all the Magic Kindgom has to offer!
We missed seeing the Country Bears on our trip - as someone else commented it is down for refurbishment.

Also, as someone else posted here they did just have plain 'ol brown napkins everywhere on our trip this time. I told my husband that I know it sounds silly, but I missed my Disney themed napkins. :(

I could eat me some Pecos Bills right now! I'm getting rumbly in my tummy and those pics have me drooling. During our trip we ate there twice. The last time we ate there a few cast members and a Photopass photograher came to our table as we were finishing our meals. I had no clue what the were up to but they introduced themselves to us and asked my DD if she'd like to be the honorary sheriff of Frontierland. She said yes and they asked for her name and said they'd be right back. They came back and got her this time followed by more cast members and the took her up to the front of the restaurant. They made her take an "oath" and sign a certificate printed with her name on it saying something about she wouldn't spit on women and children. Then they gave her a cowboy hat with a sheriff's badge and took her out on the 'porch' in front of Pecos Bill's an they yelled for everyone to meet the new sheriff in town. They told her as far as Frontierland extends she was now sheriff in those parts. After we ate we had planned on going to Big Thunder Mountain to get FPs but the castmember working the ride spotted my daughter and said since DD was the sheriff she had to let us on so she gave us FPs to use right then. It was fun to see DD sprinked with some pixiedust: Sorry to hijack your thread with that story, just that your pics of Pecos Bills brought back fond memories.

I see you've been busy today planning details for your next trip and are now planning on staying moderate. I hope that you'll get pixiedusted at some point with discounts. We stayed at AoA for 3 nights in a Little Mermaid room this past trip and Pop for 1 night before moving to POR during our May trip just to give each resort a try.
Have you ever considered buying one annual pass so you can get A/P room discounts? (you can book up to 3 rooms with the discount) When we were pricing resorts with for our May trip the AP discount CBR (standard room) was only $80 more for the week than Pop (we went the same week as ya'll). We were going to stay at CBR but then changed to POR last minute so DD could try a Royal Room. I'm sure you know this being the Disney expert you are, but you can still purchase the dining plan with the annual pass discount.

Thanks for helping me with getting out of my funk - can't wait to read more!
Have a good day! :)

Good to "see" you back! I've been in a Disney funk as well and have tried my best to work a Thanksgiving Disney trip in but I don't see it happening. Too far to travel and not enough time.

I absolutely loved the story of your daughter being chosen to be the Sheriff of Frontierland. I've never heard any story similar to that! It's those kind of moments that make the Disney trips extra special.

I've never really thought about one of us getting an annual pass just to get the room discounts. Thanks for the info! I think I'll play around with some numbers and see if any magic happens.

How come the face characters on the floats get umbrellas, yet Lady Tremaine and her lovely daughters are left prancing around in the rain with no protection? :confused3 I guess it just doesn't pay to be mean to the princesses! :crazy2: :rotfl:

I thought the exact same thing! I call Umbrella Discrimination! :lmao:

Hello there Mrs. I Made It To Round 2 In The Disney Moms Panel Search! I'm so proud of you!

John doesn't often stand in line for the characters but he couldn't pass up the Louisiana Princess!

We dod the same thing with the afternoon parades. If we are in the right place at the right time, we'll stop and watch.

Aww, thanks! I'm trying to keep myself from going crazy from nerves, but at least I have a trip coming up in a couple weeks that I still have to plan for. It should help the time go quickly...I think.

We don't stand in many lines for characters anymore. My oldest loved getting autographs and we'd stand in just about any line we saw. Now she's more into pins and my youngest hasn't shown a huge interest in standing in line for the characters. She's happy just to do some character meals.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that you make it to the Moms Panel! Then, I can say, well I knew MissLiz before she was a Disney Moms Panel Member. :rotfl: Seriously! I know that you'd make a great addition to the Panel.

It's very rare that we stand in line for the characters either. But, John just couldn't pass up Tiana.

Okay, so the next update is written and all I have to do is copy and paste it here. But, before I post it, I must warn you that it's bad.....real bad......I mean really really bad. Not bad as in we did anything illegal "bad" (I took care of that business on the cruise ship.) Not bad as in we did anything "gross" (We took care of that by eating the snails on the cruise ship.) Just bad as in I'm going to be embarrassed to all heck bad. You must make a solemn vow that you'll still love me after I post the pictures. I mean it! I want to hear you say it! Repeat after me: "Lisa, I promise that I'll think no less of you after I see and read your next update!" (Wait a minute.....what if ya'll already think I'm pretty lowly as it is?)

Lisa, I promise...hold on, what do I have to promise....that I'll think no less of you...scroll down again to "remember"....after I see and read your next update.

Let's see, which smiley to get ready:

Post away!

Loved the update!! I think it is awesome that John even enjoys a greet with the characters.

And to your friend MissLiz, congrats on the Round 2 of the panel. I was also a Round 2 pick for the first time ever in 6 tries. So now I will keep fingers crossed and say prayers for the both of us.:goodvibes

And Lisa, we will never think less of you for sharing your wonderful stories and photos with us. No matter how "good" or "bad" they may be. That is what makes us all Friends in the Box!

Congrats to you, too!!! I'm right with you on the first time to Round 2. I have been trying since the first year and have never been to Round 2. I'm both nervous and excited at the same time.

lol that's aweseme that John wanted his picture with a princess. :)

Now i'm really ready to see what the next update is. :) I promise not to think less of you. ::yes:::rolleyes1

Great update! I love John and Tiana! How funny!

*Holds up right hand* I solemnly swear that I will think no less of you after I read the next update.
There. Now please share it . . . . :goodvibes
