Excuse me, you'll need to see security. What has Mickeystoontown done? Update 3/25x2

Sounds like you hit everything!

I appreciate the refurb/restore on the Tiki room. I can sometime be very literal and it drove me crazy having the Cuban inspired music with the SOuth Pacific decor.

Country Bears is DH's favorite. He never misses, except this last time when it was closed for refurbishment - maybe they'll fix the sound. Even though it's hard to understand, I know the entire routine by heart because DH has it on his IPod.

Pluto0809: Big Al is my DH's family favorite too, and they still have his Big Al doll somewhere

I've always enjoyed the Tiki Birds...old version and new/old version. Wait! Is that right? Or have there been three versions? Anyway, I like 'em.

Country Bears is one of the oldies but goodies in our opinion.

Good morning Lisa! OH, I just love the way you write as you make me picture the World so well in my head. I really need that sometimes. Fortunately I'm working on the scrapbook, so I can relive the memories there. What are we all going to do when the trip report is over???

Hey! I'm a detail person and I find myself going into a lot of detail when I write. It's good to know that I'm not boring you.

I've been saying that I was going to do a scrapbook of our WDW vacations every since we went in 1998 and haven't gotten one done yet. I do have the pictures sorted according to years so I guess that's something. :rotfl:

Great updates! Looks like you had no crowds! JJ loves the new, to him, redition of the Tiki birds. He hated the volcano goddess and all the loud noises, I miss it. Sure, sure those condiments are for everyone ;). Glad he fits in perfectly! The interactive area at HM is great. I'm always the odd man out when it's the 3 of us on rides that only sit 2. I don't mind on Buzz, then I can get 999999!

We didn't run into many crowds that morning which made me happy! I can certainly see why JJ wouldn't like the volcano goddess and the loud noises. Oh yeah, those condiments were for everybody but I was trying to move the mushrooms my way. I love those!

Hi Lisa,

I joined your TR late and luv it!

Did they ever fix the audio issue at County Bear? My girls luv those old bears and remember seeing them on a 1 day Disney visit. So of course they are asking to see them again. I like to see that show but, only once per visit is good for me.

Can't wait to hear more.

Welcome! I hope you've been entertained so far.

I don't remember the sound being really bad this time around so I'm thinking they fixed it.

Big Al is my favorite too! I had a doll of him as a kid. Wish I still had it since they don't make Country Bear merchandise anymore.

How cool! I'd love to see the Big Al doll.

Yay! You are in the MK!

I love the pic with Jesus. That's so neat that Jessie takes him everywhere.

You are getting a lot done with not to long waits, and you were able to stay out of the rain for the most part too, which is great.

That Jesus doll has see it's share of traveling, that's for sure!

We were lucky with the wait times/crowds so far!

Seeing those pictures from Country Bears took me right back to my childhood trips to WDW with Grandma and Grandpa. It's official, we'll be visiting those bears next trip. :goodvibes

I love that Jesse "get's it". I knew he was a keeper.

You guys were having really good luck with wait times! I really don't feel like there's any time of year to actually avoid. (Well, Christmas seems like it's crazy, but I think it would be worth it to see all of the decorations.)

Aww, that's sweet that you remember the Country Bears from when you went to Disney with your grandparents. I want my kids to have those kind of memories.

Yep, I think Jesse is a keeper! I'm proud to call him son.

I would absolutely love to go to Disney at Christmas or near Christmas but I bet the crowds are bad then.

Great update! I'm glad Jessie understood the importance of food pictures for us!
I have never seen the Tiki Room (which means neither have my DDs) so we will probably do it this year.
Those burgers and condiments looked really yummy!

Hope the rain holds off for a while!

Jesse didn't even bat an eye when I explained the food pictures to him. :thumbsup2

If you have time to see the Tiki Birds, it's worth your time to see it at least once.

I have always loved reading your reports but I think I love you a little more when I saw you quoted Napoleon Dynamite. I love that movie.

Do you know that I've never sat down and watched all of Napoleon Dynamite at one time? I've watched 15 or 20 minutes at a time. Added all together, I've seen the entire thing.

Great update!! Seems Jessie is fitting right in feeling the WDW love!! I noticed in your condiment photo the printed napkins! I had 1 here at the house from our trip in June and my DD wanted to "save it forever"!:lmao:So at dinner one evening, I used it just to make her crazy.:sad:If I'd only know they were going to be irreplacable, I'd have saved it as well. Only plain ones around on this trip.
Love that you are taking Jessie into everything. One never knows what is going to turn out to be a favorite (or a favorite resting place) until one checks them all out.

I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one who admires all of the cute printed napkins (or who will miss them on our 2013 trip). I have old styrofoam cups from several years ago stored away in the top of the pantry so nobody can use them. :p

Hi Lisa,
I love the Tiki Birds!! its a must every trip...the Country Bears...not so much..lol

my condolences on the loss of your aunt. Glad your mama is recovering well.

My dad did not want or have a funeral...he actually donated his body to a local Medical School...when finished..they cremated him and gave us back his remains (in a nice little meeting with all of us)....it was soo much better than having a funeral....

Hey ya'll! Well, we've made it past hump day and it'll soon be the end of the work week for the majority of us Monday through Friday 9 to 5'ers. (Don't I wish those were my work hours. ::yes::)

I don't know if I mentioned it here on my report (I know that I did on the May, 2013 thread) but I called Disney Travel a week or so ago and was told to call back on October 10th so that I could take advantage of the "new promotion". I was also given a quote for a standard room at the CBR (no discounts for the Little Mermaid rooms) and it was cheaper than rack rate but not by much, about $64 (per each room).

On my way home from work yesterday, I called Disney Travel and was told that the "new promotion" was actually a pin code and it was attached to Lacey's name. It was for 30% off moderate resorts or 35% off deluxe resorts and it went all the way through September but there were black out dates. The only date that we could use it would be on May 22nd. That explained the small discount.

I chose not to use the pin code in the hope that one of us gets another one that is better or a general public offer is released. Oh and Mama had a pin code attached to her name as well but it was only good for 2011 dates. I didn't even think to ask what the offer was.

While on the phone with the castmember, he advised me that we should change over to one of the moderates because we definitely would not be getting any discounts if we stayed in the Little Mermaid rooms. He said that there would be no discounts for them because they are booking without any discounts.

I was going to "go for it" and book Port Orleans Riverside but he already had the Caribbean Beach Resort on his screen and all three reservations pulled up from when he gave me the quotes so we booked there.

Once Mama's eyes start healing where she can wear her glasses and look at the pictures, we'll decide if we want POR or CBR.

If the party didn't include Mama, then we would book POR because, are you ready for it?....we are ready for a change of scenery. I know that's hard to believe but we really are. But, Mama feels really comfortable with the layout of the CBR, the bus system and it doesn't bother her when we go to the parks without her and she stays at the resort. If it makes her feel more comfortable, then I'll get a change of scenery in the future.

I need to get my nose back to the grindstone and get some work done. Hoping to get another installment churned out between clients.

I thought of you when I saw the discounts for Jan-March that were just announced since they specifically say no discounts for the Little Mermaid rooms at AOA and I figured that will be the case for the future.

Good luck deciding where to stay for sure. I understand wanting a change of scenery after staying at CBR for so many years, but also get the point about wanting Mama to feel comfortable. I'm sure you will enjoy it no matter where you stay. :goodvibes

Lisa, I'm all caught up again...finally.

I love that Jesse carries the Jesus doll with him and Jesus certainly deserves his own pictures in the MK!

I'd not done the Swiss Family Treehouse in years (Mark and stairs do NOT get along) and went with the girls in January and really enjoyed it as it's been updated since the last time I saw it.

Jesse reminds me of a big teddy bear and I just want to give him a big squeeze. :goodvibes

Glad that Jesse understood the food porn...that is most important in these TR's.

We try to do Country Bears once every trip as well. Unfortunately, it was down when we were there last month, but hoping to see it at Christmas (I believe it is a different show).

Hey Lisa,
I've been away from the boards for a while. We just got back from our 10-night trip this past Sunday and boy do I have the post-Disney World funk!!

Anyhow, I decided I'd get caught up on your report to help get out of the funk. You've had a lot going on in your life lately. I'm sorry to hear about the death of your aunt and am thankful Mama's eye surgery was a success.

Your meal and desserts at Via Napoli looked yummy! The pizza is delicious there, but haven't tried any desserts, I will have to next time!

Yay for Lacey and Jesse's arrival -it's good to see the whole gang together having fun! Like others have said, I love the picture of Jesus and the rest of ya'll on Main Street! It's evident from the smiles that you are in the Happiest Place on Earth! Making the Swiss Family Tree House your first attraction is awesome! I'm glad y'all were taking your time showing Jesse all the Magic Kindgom has to offer!
We missed seeing the Country Bears on our trip - as someone else commented it is down for refurbishment.

Also, as someone else posted here they did just have plain 'ol brown napkins everywhere on our trip this time. I told my husband that I know it sounds silly, but I missed my Disney themed napkins. :(

I could eat me some Pecos Bills right now! I'm getting rumbly in my tummy and those pics have me drooling. During our trip we ate there twice. The last time we ate there a few cast members and a Photopass photograher came to our table as we were finishing our meals. I had no clue what the were up to but they introduced themselves to us and asked my DD if she'd like to be the honorary sheriff of Frontierland. She said yes and they asked for her name and said they'd be right back. They came back and got her this time followed by more cast members and the took her up to the front of the restaurant. They made her take an "oath" and sign a certificate printed with her name on it saying something about she wouldn't spit on women and children. Then they gave her a cowboy hat with a sheriff's badge and took her out on the 'porch' in front of Pecos Bill's an they yelled for everyone to meet the new sheriff in town. They told her as far as Frontierland extends she was now sheriff in those parts. After we ate we had planned on going to Big Thunder Mountain to get FPs but the castmember working the ride spotted my daughter and said since DD was the sheriff she had to let us on so she gave us FPs to use right then. It was fun to see DD sprinked with some pixiedust: Sorry to hijack your thread with that story, just that your pics of Pecos Bills brought back fond memories.

I see you've been busy today planning details for your next trip and are now planning on staying moderate. I hope that you'll get pixiedusted at some point with discounts. We stayed at AoA for 3 nights in a Little Mermaid room this past trip and Pop for 1 night before moving to POR during our May trip just to give each resort a try.
Have you ever considered buying one annual pass so you can get A/P room discounts? (you can book up to 3 rooms with the discount) When we were pricing resorts with for our May trip the AP discount CBR (standard room) was only $80 more for the week than Pop (we went the same week as ya'll). We were going to stay at CBR but then changed to POR last minute so DD could try a Royal Room. I'm sure you know this being the Disney expert you are, but you can still purchase the dining plan with the annual pass discount.

Thanks for helping me with getting out of my funk - can't wait to read more!
Have a good day! :)

Thank You!

I find it much more comforting mourning the loss of my loved ones with just our immediate family. It's all the small talk that is so hard to deal with. Your father did a great thing by donating his body to the medical school. Who knows what things his body taught others.

I thought of you when I saw the discounts for Jan-March that were just announced since they specifically say no discounts for the Little Mermaid rooms at AOA and I figured that will be the case for the future.

I knew that there was a possibility that the Little Mermaid rooms would be excluded from any offers. With the release of the newest offer, postings about recent pin codes and confirmation from the castmember, I knew that we needed to go ahead and made the switch back to a moderate. Even if we don't save quite as much as we would by booking at AoA, I know that it would be worth it to have the extra space in the room.

I have also been reading some of the Little Mermaid room reviews and most aren't that great which had us all a little worried. I know to take negative feedback with a grain of salt but not when there are a whole lot of them.

If Mama feels better staying at the CBR, then that's what we will do. John and I are liking the looks of POR grounds. Not so much the inside of the rooms though since our bedroom furniture looks similar to the furniture in the mansions and Hunter's is similar to that in the Alligator Bayou rooms. It's all about where Mama feels comfortable so we will see.

Hey Lisa...finally getting a chance to start catching up..I am at least 10 pages behind.

I am laughing at all the irons that got confiscated. I would've threw it right back in my families face too.

I'll help John Take out the bags next time. I'll even settle for a $40 tip instead!

I am glad Hunter enjoyed his cruise. That makes it totally worth it.

As soon as you said you ate at Electric Umbrella I thought to myself..."Is that where she lost her tooth?" :rotfl:

Ok...still a ways to go to catch up, but If I don't comment every so often i will totally forget.

I just read the Via Napoli update. I am so gald you liked it. Claire and I have that as an ADR on our last full day. I am excited to give it a try. The dessert you had is the one I want to try too.

Yay for Lacey and Jesse arriving!

I have to laugh at the store pictures. Trojans in the "must need" area just cracks me up.

I just wanted to pop in and say that I have fallen so terribly behind.

I am going to try and catch up soon!

I am so sorry to hear about both of your Aunt's. What a hard time it has been, but they are in a better place now.

I wish I worked 9-5 too!

I can definitely understand sticking with CBR if Mama feels more comfortable there. I also understand the desire for a change of scenery. Important thing is you've got something booked and can change it if you want!

Country bears...that is one of Skips favorites. He loves Big Al and that song too. I prefer to skip it, but I go in every so often. Claire loves it too.

I was waaayyyyy behind--about ten pages to be exact! After fifteen minutes or more, of going through each page, stopping to read your updates, skimming over the chatter, I am finally caught up!

First, I know how glad you were for Jesse and Lacey to finally arrive. I had to laugh at your borrowed pictures from the gift shop, because I noticed the condoms and I just am left wondering....I've always taken kids with me, so, (A) there will not be any ___ with them in the bed next to me, and (B) I don't even to begin to have enough energy for that when I'm at Disney. TMI, I know!

Glad y'all were able to show Jesse Disney, McBride style! :) Great PP pics of all of you!

Hi Lisa!!! That's a bummer about the discount! I'm hoping for a better one myself. Still haven't officially booked yet. Lol! I am in shock that you want a change of scenery!! Lol! I never thought the day would come!! That day hasn't come for me yet! Lol!

I have a question for you....what are your thoughts on the DDP vs paying oop? We plan on doing at least one TS a day, breakfast in the room each day. Worth getting the dining an or just pay oop? So confused!!!! Lol!

Had pages and pages to catch up on!! I love the Jesus story! I also love when you have someone new to show all the amazing things at Disney! I laughed about Jessie getting the food picture taking! That is what happened with the band in March. They even started shoving their plates in front of me! It was so funny!

Well I have had so much going on I was behind. River's b-day was on Wednesday, on Thursday River's father's mother died. Family came from all over. River's b-day party was on Saturday and the viewing was also, its been a stressful week I know you can understand. But now on to the happy stuff.

You really make me lol sometimes with the stuff you come out with like singing Areosmith!

When I saw that food tray my first thought was these people are serious about their fixins!

That's good Jesse didn't think you were having a psychotic episode when he saw you taking pictures of the food!

When I read about the waiting room for Country Bears it reminded me of you other tr when you got stuck next to the stinky stinkertons.:crazy2:

I love all the old school Disney attractions! I really like to do everything at least once on every trip if possible.

I think you are doing the right thing by switching back to CBR if that's where mama is comfortable and knows her way around.
