Hello everyone. This is my 1st time posting on the forum with a question that a friend and I can't find the answer to.

I just got off the Disney Wonder for the Vacation Member cruise and a friend had asked me to help grab them a couple spare luggage tags. Guest Services was more than happy to oblige but I noticed that instead of having a Pluto Tag the ship was giving out an Ariel one.

After looking around though its clear this isn't the norm since I can hardly find any listings of it online. Is the Ariel tag Exclusive to the Wonder? If so why and do other ships have exclusive tags. I've been looking for hours and haven't found any information so would appreciate any insight. Thanks!

I think this is what you are referring to - On the Fantasy in July out of Port Canaveral, everyone onboard was given luggage tags the day before debarking with different characters on them. This was used to call groups by character for when you could leave the ship and for where to pick up your luggage in the terminal. (Big character banners overhead where luggage was placed). For example - we had red Mickey luggage tags but there were probably a dozen different characters total. I’m not sure how they assign which character you receive - they were just left in our room by our stateroom host. But I definitely remember Pluto being one of those options. I can’t remember about Ariel cause there were so many characters.

I have never noticed tags being different on different ships. However, if Ariel is only on the wonder, it’s probably because the atrium is kind of themed around being under the water and she’s the statue.

The tags are all different - they are different for different sections of baggage claim. I can't remember if I've seen Ariel before but I think I have along with Mickey, Donald, etc.

Ariel, at least on the Wonder, is the first tag called for disembarking. We were given that, at Guest Services, to use instead of the ones left in our cabin when we had to make an early flight. Can't address the other ships as we've never had the need in Canaveral, but it may be the same policy.

Here are a few. They tell you where to look for your luggage and I think there are 8 - 10 different characters. I have seen them on eBay - they are just paper but nice for scrapbooking.

We've had an Ariel one on the magic before and saw them on the fantasy previously.

In the past, it seems as though they use a different number of colors based on how many people are sailing which would make sense as there would be more luggage in the terminal too. Maybe ariel is one of the ones they hold back if the sailing is less than full?

What got me curious is there is no Pluto tag... at least on the Alaskan trip. If you've seen the tags before they're all there. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Daisy, Chip n Dale, Tinker Bell...and then Ariel.
A friend of mine had also gotten Pluto as part of the post-venture tour but that was back in 2019 and that was from San Diego to Vancouver and checking online I've seen very little of the Ariel tags if anything. The most was partof a Disney Cruise Line blog

The main reason for asking was bizarrely enough Ariel replaced Pluto for the luggage tag and my friend and I were discussing whether or not Disney might be rolling out new tags or if they're discontinuing Pluto

That's the one I've been seeing. But I haven't seen many photos of Ariel online which is what got me started down the rabbit hole. Especially since she replaced Pluto which is even more weird. I can see them replacing Daisy or Tink, but Pluto?

That answers one question but Pluto's tag was completely absent. My theory is that Pluto might be reserved for Post excursion but that's such a small amount of people

We had Pluto in august on the fantasy. Nothing special or unusual about our booking. Normal flight time home after. DCL transfer. Oceanview room.
