The 10 day forecast is showing 40-60% chance of rain for most days next week! I am trying to let that get me down for my first trip home to BLT! Hopefully, it will change or just be a fast Florida thunderstorm passing through!!!!!

The more I follow ten-day forecasts of the places we travel to, the more I've learned to utterly disregard them. Forecasting models just aren't that accurate. Plus Orlando in summer? You can pretty much self-forecast (without even consulting the Weather Channel) that the three month weather prognosis will be hot, really hot, or unbearably hot, with a chance of thunderboomers every single day. Maybe we're just weird, but my family (especially the teens) are disappointed if we DON'T get some classic Florida thunderstorms that cool things down, send everyone racing for overhangs, and spark a sea of ponchos. Hopefully you are there enough days that if the storms happen to linger and mess up parades/fireworks you'll have another chance to see them.

Pack the ponchos...it's almost certainly a rain deterrant!

That's the forecast every day for Orlando in the summer. Barring any tropical storms, you'll be fine!

We're leaving on Sunday, and Tues is my planned blizzard beach day which is one of the days that says 'showers'. Ugh. I'm working at replanning my schedule in case. I'm ok w/the afternoon thunderstorms, but I really hope its not all day rain.

I don't have much faith in 10 day forecasts. From my experience, most of the time the showers will pass right through and not ruin the whole day.

The only time that we were at WDW and it rained constantly was in in August 2008 when we there while Tropical Storm Fay stayed put over central Florida for 4 days. Lotso rain and wind but we still managed to have fun.

Completely disregard what the forecast for your trip says.

It will be hot. Very hot. There is a good chance that it will rain in the mid afternoon, but only briefly.

Don't worry about the weather. It will be awesome!

Have a great trip to BLT! It's my favorite resort!

Have you been to WDW in the summer? That is the weather everyday! Seriously! If it does rain, it will likely be a huge thunderstorm with lots of lightning mid-afternoonh. It will last about and hour, clear up and be humid as heck! With the hot temperatures this time of year, the atmosphere becomes very volatile and those clouds give off a quick burst of energy.

Don't pay any attention to the 10 day forecast !!! I live in Florida and the weather is usually the same everyday---hot, humid, thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening ! Relax and enjoy your time on vacation :yay::yay:

Ok so Florida always has rain... everyday... It's a given with all of the surrounding water. Just pack a poncho because it will rain for about 15-20 minutes and be sunny all over again. Enjoy your first trip home!!:cool1:

Florida...Summer...Normal...no worries!

I was there that week also, we waited out the first day of it because it wasn't suppose to last, but when it stuck around we decided to just make the most of it and went to the parks anyway, which were very slow. We got our moneys worth out of our ponchos that week. But we did have a lot of fun also.

If you get to BB early, you will have most of the morning and the early afternoon to enjoy. We always go in the summer. Last 2 summers, it rained late afternoon/early evening...in fact, I can tell you exactly what time 2 years ago. We had 6 pm ADRs at Ohana's, we took the bus to MK early planning to walk from the Poly to TTC where we have 2 bricks, one in honor of our mom. It was clear when we left SSR and as we were sitting waiting to make the turn into the MK at 4:45 pm, these dark clouds rolled in and opened up BUCKETS. Buckets of rain for 30 minutes. Never did make it to TTC, went straight to Ohana's.

Unless there is a tropical system bearing down on WDW, don't worry about the weather. It will NOT be a washout. Yeah, it'll rain almost everyday, but just for and hour or so.

#1 bit of advice I can give you, don't go wandering around outdoors if there is lightning.

So I just looked at the weather again, and now there is an area or tropical wave being watched for further development. UGH! They said it could be in the easter gulf by the weekend. I really hope it turns into nothing.

We were there during Fay- she kept the heat reasonable and the lines short! Didn't stop us. I suggest buying some of those Coleman Emergency ponchos for 99 cents. They work great, dry fast when you hang them up and fold really small. We always have a few extra ones in case of rips, etc. Don't worry about rain- you're in WDW!!!!

We went in June and the forecast was rain for the entire trip. Guess what? Sunny and hot all the way. 20 minutes of light rain one day. And we were on the bus headed for Hollywood Studios. By the time we got there it stopped.

I just looked at the forecast and it looks wonderful. Low 90's. :cool1:

For the last week we have had a heat index of 110 degrees here in Dallas. :scared1:

Take it from one who "stopped" looking at the 10 Day Forecast;

In all of the million years I've been going to WDW, I can't really remember any extended forecast NOT showing at least 30% chance of rain during the summer. For me, unless it says 60% I don't even bring a umbrella. (Can't stand that hot plastic poncho on my sweaty body :lmao:)

So relax and have a fantastic time in WDW! :thumbsup2

The forecast for Central Florida, beyond about 36 hours, is useless.

Summer, as mentioned, is pretty monotonous---hot, humid, with afternoon pop-up thunderstorms.

There is a potential depression forming, but on its current track at worst it will bring some rain. If it rains, put on your poncho. We check into VWL on Friday. We know the rain could be coming. We don't care.

You'll still have a good time! We went to a Pirate & Princess one year in a *torrential* downpour (and being February it was a little cold, too). Had we not pre-paid for the tickets, we wouldn't have gone. But, it was incredibly fun. The rain let up just in time for the (slightly delayed) parade/fireworks, and the park was so empty you could have stood in the middle of Main Street during the fireworks, swinging a dead cat, and not hit anyone.
