I just found out today that our stay at the Baylake Towers won't let us enjoy the "Top of the World" observation deck. We aren't DCV owners and are paying to stay there just like any other Disney room. The lounge is for members only :( I think that is kinda stinky since we are paying alot of money for a 2 bedroom suite... i'll just suck it up and go enjoy from the Contemporary's viewing area HMMMPPHHH!!

We are in the same boat- paying cash for 2 BR villa. Don't lose hope- early reports is that the lounge is empty. they are not even taking reservations. I would bet by the time you go, the lounge will be open to all BLT guests....they can't be selling many drinks if the place isn't full, right?

I'm hoping it's open for my trip in less than 4 weeks....

DVC owners are paying more for that room than you are. They pay yearly dues that give them special perks. Keep in mind that DVC members don't qualify for free dining.

Next time check out the DVC boards and rent points to stay in that same room. You'll save money over the price WDW gave you- and you'll get the DVC member perks.

We are DVC owners, and I think that is kind of crappy that they won't let you go to the lounge. It should be for any guest staying the Bay Lake Towers. You are right, you are paying alot for that room.

Perhaps I misunderstood--I thought you had to have a member card to enter the lounge. Renting points wouldn't help if that's the case.

OP--I feel that those of us who pay cash to stay just have to show our dissatisfaction by not staying at BLT. If I don't get to use the amenities, I won't stay. And cash guests help offset costs for DVC members.

Apparently, if you rent points, you are considered a DVC member for your stay. I think the reason cash paying guests are upset is because during booking, they were being told that one of the perks of staying at BLT was the Top of the World lounge- only later was it announced that it was restricted to DVC members.

However, policies do change- and if that lounge isn't making money selling drinks to DVC members, I would bet they open it up to all guests in the near future.

You may have paid a lot, but if you're renting, you still got a great rate. DVC members (like me) have shelled out thousands upon thousands of dollars to join DVC.

**We toured BLT last month....you are going to love it there even without being able to visit the lounge....hope you have a great stay!

No, that is not true. You are considered a DVC member if you have the blue DVC identification card with your name on it.

As a DVC member, can I go here even if I'm not staying at BLT?
