Hi! I am wondering what the actual process is for exchanging the vouchers for a DVC annual pass. I see that I can buy them online, and I understand that I have to go to guest services... Do I go to guest services at one of the parks?

Also, what happens if you are traveling without the member, or forget your member card, or otherwise do not have it with you? Will they look up your DVC membership by address? Or are you stuck standing there with an AP voucher you can't exchange?

I'd like to hear from folks who've actually used this perk, please. I've read the member website, I'm just not clear on what happens if we, as associates, travel without the member. TIA!

Yes at a park or DTD.

Yes, you need your blue member card. They don't have any way to look you up at guest relations that I know of. You can get a replacement card if you forget yours at the DVC Sales Center @ SSR.

You also must have photo ID for all the adults, showing they live at your address.

I have seen scattered reports (like 2 maybe) that a teenager traveling w/o the parent was permitted to get the DVC AP but WITH the parent's blue membership card.

I don't believe associates -- unless they meet the family living in the same household rule - are eligible to purchase DVC APs, since they don't have a member card.

Yes you should have your member card, but I actually forgot mine once and with a photo ID they were able to "look something up" and give me my APs, it took a little extra time.

You will need your member card absolutely. We have gotten APs every year and each and every time I had to produce my member card. The very first time I had only a temp card and took a copy of the front of my contract to show that us 3 owners have different addresses, just so they can match them to our photo ID addresses. That worked perfectly. Hopefully your family member can give you their blue member card to get your AP.

Sorry, I see you're an associate. You are only eligible for this perk if you live at the same address as the member, otherwise you are not eligible. This is why I made my daughter an owner on my contract(s) so that she could use this perk as I knew associates could not unless they live with you. This is from DVCnews.com -- "Associate members are not deeded owners of a Disney Vacation Club contract. They do not receive printed ID cards and are not eligible for any perks extended exclusively to members. However, Associates do have the ability to manage the points in a DVC contract by making rservations, banking or borrowing points."

More info from the members' site:

Who is eligible to receive the Annual Pass discount?
Disney Vacation Club Members receive a discount on the Pass for themselves and their immediate family residing in the same household only. At the time of purchase or redemption, your Disney Vacation Club Member ID Card must be provided and ALL ADULTS must present a valid driver's license or state identification card showing they reside in the same household.

Who is defined as "immediate family"?
"Immediate family" is defined by Walt Disney World Resort for discount purposes as noted below: Spouse/Registered Domestic Partner, Parent/Step Parent, Mother-In-Law/Father-In-Law, Child/Step Child, Brother/Stepbrother, Sister/Stepsister, Brother-In-Law/Sister-In-Law, Grandparent, and Grandchild.

Can I use my discount to buy a Pass for someone other than myself or immediate family residing in the same household?
No. This discount is exclusive for Members and may not be transferred. This perk may be revoked in the event of abuse.

I forgot my member card when I went to get a replacement for my AP....but they made a call to MS, I was asked a series of questions which I had to answer correctly. Then had to show a photo ID.

Better to just have your card with you...at all times. My dd, 16, will be getting her DVC AP in August, and using her GAD voucher towards it. I will have to show my member card as well as photo ID. I will also have dd's passport with us..she will need 'official' ID in order to get her parkpass to use against the AP cost.
