The state of NY has tons of things to see & do:

http://www.iloveny.com/home.aspx

We've got lakes, the Atlantic Ocean, mountains, a big city, suburbs, countryside, tall buildings, Broadway, Times Square, restaurants, museums, shopping, etc. etc.

Food? Well, we've got bagels, pizza, knishes just to name a few.

Famous people? We've got lots of them too.

WA.....Space Needle, Microsoft, Starbucks, Amazon, Boeing, outdoor recreation, rain, slugs, greenness, tulip fields, to name a few
Food: apples, salmon, coffee, Aplets & Cotlets, cherries

Do you have a special or hidden talent?
Maybe not a talent so much, but I seem to remember dumb songs...theme songs, songs they sang in cartoons and shows. I can't tell you what I had for dinner 2 days ago, but I can sing the songs from 60's tv shows!

Today is statehood day here in Hawaii. So today's QOTD is-

What is your state known for? Any particular types of foods, tourist attraction, famous people....?

Heidi always beats me to it! :goodvibes

Ooh, ooh (raises hand and waves wildly)

The Alamo.

I was reading a magazine where they had featured four different types of coleslaw from different cities. I thought that it was interesting to see that there were ones that had crumbled cheese, or even tomato sauce in it. There are restaurants here that has macadamia nut bits, and pineapple in it for a tropical feel. Other types that I heard of was with raisins, apples, .... So today's QOTD is-

What type of ingredients do you put into your coleslaw? Or, have you heard of any other different/unusal ingredients that are used in coleslaw?

Not sure I would want to try those other coleslaw's. Here the only way I have seen it made is the basic recipe.

I've added apples in coleslaw before. Lately I've just been purchasing my salads from the deli.

I've added red & green pepper strips to my coleslaw & I always add dry mustard to the dressing--just gives it an extra zip. But since I'm the only one that eats coleslaw, I buy it from the deli now. My local supermarket sells a coleslaw with a vingarette dressing, it's really light & refreshing, I don't like my salads drenched in mayo.

I haven't made coleslaw in years but like to eat it. My mother's is my favorite and she just puts the basics in it, sugar and mayonaise. I've eaten it with apples before and like it that way too. I like my coleslaw very basic.

On a side note, does anyone play Farmville or Farmtown on Facebook?

Thought maybe if someone here that I knew played them, they might be willing to be my neighbor. There's a couple of threads over on the CB but I don't know most of them and don't want to open up my FB to a bunch of stranger.

I feel like Mr Rogers...won't you be my neighbor? :goodvibes I've let my crops rot lately, but I can send you trees. How about Scrabble, Wordtwist or TextTwist?

Beans, beans, beans.

Are you a fan of beans-five bean salad, chili, baked beans, pork and beans, ....?

I personally do not like beans in my chili, and have never tried baked beans. I do not care for beans unless it is soy beans.

Yes I like beans, my favorite is Lima beans. I won't eat chili unless there are kidney beans in it, once in awhile I eat baked beans and I love ham, potato, and green bean soup.

Hi everyone! As per the prev QOTD, the unusal ingred's I've seen here are raisins and sunflower seeds. And any bean is a friend of mine...It's the toot fruit.
Have a great day everyone!

Trish
