That's a great way to spend a winter b-day!! :woohoo: It really gives her a day all her own to celebrate!! And having more than one party for your b-day isn't so bad either!! ;) The family party on Memorial Day is a great idea and a nice way to spend the holiday!:thumbsup2 Hope you had a good one this year!! From the sound of it you did!!:thumbsup2;)

What companies in your city, or state has gone out of business because of the economy?

Are there any new businesses starting up?
We've lost Linens N Things and Circuit City too plus some small businesses. A men's haircut place is opening soon plus a new restaurant just opened. Big Lots is scheduled to open in a couple of months in the next town over. Costco opened up in April. The economy hasn't affected us as badly here as in other parts of the country.

Growing up, did you do anything to celebrate Memorial Day? What do you do now to celebrate if any?

We'd just BBQ. Now, we celebrate my niece's birthday. My dad was in the Army during WWII, he's the only member of the family to serve. My nieces did march in their town's Memorial Day parade yesterday.

We had a great time. First a BBQ/pool party on Saturday. My sister's best friend came with her husband, who's a fantastic singer & guitar player, so he entertained us with some camp fire songs. Then we had another get-together on Sunday, and we celebrated my birthday & my dad's (his birthday is Wednesday, he'll be 84). Then yesterday, I joined my sisters, BIL & 2 of my nieces at Citi Field, the Mets new stadium & we watched the Mets win from fantastic seats--my sister's birthday present to me. Got home about 11:30, stayed up for a bit, then got up & came to work......

WOW!! You sound like you had a busy but awesome weekend!! :cool1: It's always great when you can spend time with friends and family!! :thumbsup2 Bet the game was great!! That's a really nice new ballpark!! :) We are a baseball house,we all love the game!! :thumbsup2 Glad to see that you're a Mets fan!!!;):lmao::rotfl:

:bday: Happy 84th Birthday to your Dad,Missy!! Hope he has a great day!!

Have you ever been ticketed because of not wearing a seat belt? If so, how much did you have to pay?

NOPE! The only 'moving violation' I ever got was a stupid one! Taking a right turn at 8:45am when it wasn't allowed until 9am! Go figure! :headache: And, he followed me for blocks before pulling me over, to figure out what ELSE he could get me for - and he didn't! And he KNEW my DH, AFTER he wrote the ticket. So, that ticket cost me $75-$100? Plus I did an online driving course so it wouldn't appear on my record for insurance reasons. Truly stupid, given all the REAL violators out there who are allowed to drive!!! :car:

Never for a seat belt, but when John and I were dating he blew through a stop sign with a cop right behind us.

I've haven't but Joe has. It was probably 10 years ago and he's worn his seatbelt ever since. Can't remember what we had to pay.

I've never had a ticket for not wearing my seatbelt as I always wear it even in the back. I also make sure everyone is belted up before I drive off.

No one in my house has ever had a ticket for not wearing a seat belt!! Ever since the kids were small we have stressed that we don't drive an inch until we are belted in! ;)To this day (they are 21,18,15) they get in a car and it's the first thing they do!! :thumbsup2 Guess saying it over and over again really sunk in!!:confused3:thumbsup2 I hope it's something they will never forget and do it every time they get into a car!;)

Since seatbelts are compulsory in Canada, I've never had a ticket. I never drive without it buckled, as I was involved in a major car crash many years ago, and if it wasn't for the seatbelt, I would have gone through the windshield, and sustained life threatening injuries. Because of the seatbelt, I walked away with ongoing back problems, but that's it. So I make sure everyone is buckled in before driving anywhere. Have a great day everyone!

nope, but I did however get one for blowing through a red light...just in the wrong place at the wrong time...the guy in front of me did it too, but I'm the one that got caught...of course! lol oh well.

I have never gotten a ticket, but once my son was in his car seat, and took off his own belt while I was driving. I was so paranoid that I would get pulled over, and get a ticket. As soon as I realized what he had done, I found the quickest place to pull over.
