Exchange MYW tickets for APs?

Is it possible to exchange your unused MYW tickets (purchased as part of a package) in for APs, paying the difference in value between the 2? I bought 8 day MYW hoppers as part of the free dining package, but with my overall cost of going on this trip so cheap with the free dining, I was thinking (actually, I had already been thinking, but this made it easier!) about getting APs so we could go back within a year and have tickets already paid for.

Since I'm buying these MYW tickets as part of a package, can you swap them out for APs, paying the difference in value between and 8-day hopper and an AP? I would think that if you did this before you used them (thus they have their full value) that Disney wouldn't care, since I'm not getting a discount on the tickets by purchasing them as part of the package.

If this is possible, how would I go about doing this?

I booked the free meal plan the other night with a reservations CM who seemed very familiar with the deal. He made sure I knew that I qualified for free dining for my whole stay even though we are only buying the 1 day base tickets and checking out after October 4th. The one thing he couldn't guarantee was if I could update the base ticket to an AP when I got there. His only advice was to go to guest relations and give it a try. I hope someone else knows the answer to this and can let me know before I get there. We are going in a couple of weeks and buying an AP is something I wanted to decide now.

Many people have been able to upgrade their MYW passes to an AP. We're planning to also.

I have an AP, but my son and D-I-L do not. In order to get the free dining we all had to have the same ticket. I started to just buy us all one day MYW ticket and then upgrade theirs to 7 day MYW tickets when we got there. After thinking about it, I bought us all 7 day MYW with pluses and will just use my AP when I get there and not activate my MYW ticket until next year, after my AP expires.

When I called WDW to book the pkg I told the CM I had an AP, but wanted to buy us all 7 Day MYW with pluses. She seemed very knowledgable and said no problem, that alot of AP holders were doing the same thing and were going to use their MYW tickets next year after their APs expire or else were going to apply them toward a new AP. She said the only thing was to make sure you don't activate any part of the MYW ticket (in my case the pluses on it) or it will expire in 14 days. I told her I didn't know if I was going to renew my AP and might just use my MYW ticket sometime in the spring for an extra trip, after my AP expires. She suggested that since it would only cost about $9.00 more, that once we checked in I might want to upgrade my 7 day MYW to a 10 day MYW. She also told me that since I had the pluses on it that I probably would not be able to upgrade it to a regular AP, but could upgrade it to a PAP. We got to talking and she has worked reservations at WDW for like 14-16 years, so should know what she's talking about. She said that once we checked in, we could do what we wanted to with the MYW park tickets. I could upgrade one of theirs to a PAP, one to 10 day ticket, and then just save mine for next year if I wanted. You just can't downgrade--in other words go from a more expensive ticket to a cheaper ticket.
