We had a wonderful first trip home, even though we did not stay at our Home resort. We stayed in a 2 Bedroom at SSR. It was me, DH and our 3 DDs - ages 8, 3 and 19 mos. Since we rented pts for this stay, (our buying DVC was the result of research into DVC and the rental process) we used our pts for a 1 Bedroom for DH’s sister and her family. I will just do a quick list of what we thought were the positives and the negatives.

Positives

SSR is a gorgeous resort. It is going to be huge.

The 2 bedroom Villa is awesome. We loved the space and having a separate bedroom for the girls.

The washer and dryer - for the first time I brought home clean laundry

The kitchen - we did all breakfasts except CRT and most lunches in our villa. We saved quite a bit of money.

We had a wonderful DD view. We were directly across from the HOB. Room # 2827 - 2 bdrm dedicated

Loved MVMCP - we went Tuesday night and had a great time. Using some of the tips from the Theme Park boards we saw many of the shows and the parade. We also got to ride all of the rides we wanted to with little or no wait time and had no problem getting our picture taken.

We usually go in the summer, so it did not seem real crowded at all.

We also had some great experiences with Cms. One evening at SSR, the cab company they connected us to never showed up to take us to our PS at Ohana’s. After my DH explained the situation to them and politely pointed out that this was the cab company they recommended, they arranged for a CM to drive us

Negatives

SSR is to far away from everything, IMO. We are used to staying at either the Monorail resorts or Epcot resorts and we really missed being able to quickly pop into a park for a few quick rides or snack before close. The Bus rides from SSR are just too long. With the ages of our Dds , DD just does not really appeal to us.

Artist Palette - the food was good but not any better than what I can get from the prepared foods section of the local Jewel-Osco. The menu is really limited. I hope it improves because I think they are really missing the boat on this one.

Overall, we had a great first trip as DVC members. My SIL and her family were very impressed with the accommodations. They even went on the tour. After meeting with the DVC guide, they even appreciated it more because he made a point of telling them what the rack rates were for the 1 bedroom unit. My DH, who I really had to convince to buy DVC is totally sold after staying in the 2 bedroom. I am hoping after our week at Hilton Head this summer , I might be able to talk him into an add on.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your first trip home. I think you will really enjoy staying at BWV - your true home.

We own at both BWV and OKW and I love them both. I love being in the thick of things when we're at BWV, and I love being able to get away from it all when we're at OKW.

BTW - I'm just east of you in Gurnee and also have 3 dds - 10, 10, and 7.
