Exactly how crowded is 7DMT?

It will be my first time back at WDW since the ride opened but I was not lucky enough to get a Fast pass for it. I was wondering if there would be any possibility of a short wait time if we went straight to the ride as soon as the park opens?

Just need some elaboration! TIA :hippie:

If you're at the front of the pack, yes. Otherwise expect a long wait.

Yep. You need to (a) be at the front of the RD crowd at park opening and (b) stay at the front as the CMs lead the crowd all the way to the attraction. Given the mob heading in that direction, it's kind of stressful IMHO.

Other options include getting in line at park closing, or getting a breakfast ADR at BOG for 50-60 minutes before park opening. Usually, but not guaranteed, to get in a couple of rides before the RD crowd gets there.

Like pp said, if you are first then more than likely. If you arrive any other time rather than the first secone the parks opens during busy time, you may be screwed. I know it's a different ride but when I worked at Hollywood studios toy Story Midway Mania would be at 90 mins wait 15 mins into park opening during the summer. It was nuts

If you arrive the first second the park opens, you're about 45 minutes too late.

In front of the pack. Oh lawd, are we talking like be at the park for 8:30? 8? Earlier? We usually do things at our leisure but this year we are kind of in a crunch to get things done... :)

I'm not sure when your trip is (ETA: I see March 2016, but not sure what dates), but I'd want to be through the turnstiles between 8-8:15 for a 9:00 opening.

I watched people stand in a steady rain with the standby time at 45 minutes to get on there. When it wasn't raining, never went below 60 minutes

We just got back from 4 days at the parks. On Sat. 2/13 MK was a "yellow day" so neutral crowds (according to Undercover tourist). MK opened at 8am, we arrived late and got to 7DMT at 9:20 and waited 45min to get on without FP. This was by far the shortest time I saw over the 3 days we visited MK. It typically hovered around 100min most of the days.

We're going on a "green day." I'm mainly curious because we have FP for Space Mountain starting at 9:45 and I wanted to trying and do the 7DMT before then.

If your FP for Space Mountain is for 9:45am that means that you can ride anytime between 9:45 and 10:45 if that helps you gauge your time

We found a 10 minute actual wait on 7D last summer right after Wishes. Also, the last half hour of the evening is a good bet for short lines and you can often ride twice before the park closes. Using this strategy, our longest wait ever has been 20 minutes and that was during opening week in 2014.

Keep trying for FP - we booked a last minute trip a couple weeks ago and 7DMT wasn't available for FP but we kept checking and eventually got it

Yes, many people cancel a day before or the day of when their plans change. So I would keep checkING all the way into your in the park. And even then. I know as previous CM that was the only way to get FPs like that during busy times

Yes--same! we decided like a week and a half ago, and arriving in WDW March 2nd! I will have to keep checking!

Didn't even think about that. I am just realizing how popular the ride is. I've been watching wait time periodically throughout my day for about a week now.

Keep checking! We got FP for 7D for our March visit for the first time ever. And we were past the 30 day booking folks too. It's possible.

Keep in mind that those posted wait times are often greatly exaggerated, especially during the evening hours. We've often found that the posted time can be up to 4 times the actual wait during the last hour or so of operation. This is designed to steer guests away from the attractions and towards the gift shops and exits. the good thing about 7D is that most of the queue is visible from outside and it's pretty easy to determine if the posted time is out of whack.
