What all is going on during this time? Any e-ride nights I need to know about? Any clue what they MIGHT be I mean? I am sure they aren't listed yet- but thought I'd ask just in case anyone has an idea?
What do you think the park hours will be?
When does MVMCP start?
Will the water parks (or just one or something) be open during this time? Would it be too cold to do those anyway?
Will the new value resort be open during this time and if so- are they taking reservations already or will soon?
Will the new ride at Epcot be open during this time? I read something about a "soft opening" but I'm not sure what that means?
Tell me ANYTHING you might know about this time frame? I would really appreciate it!

Thanksgiving weekend itself is very busy (or so I have read) but after Sunday you should have minimal crowds. Pop Century does not open until Dec 14. I think MVMCP starts by then - I have seen dates posted somewhere maybe wdwig.com

We have been doing the week after Thanksgiving at WDW for the past few years. My short list of advice...........

First MVMCP is scheduled for Dec 2. Do it if you can - it would be a nice way to end the trip.

Definitely see the Candlelight Processional. It usually starts the day after Thanksgiving. The dinner package is usually a good deal if you plan on eating in one of the sit down World Showcase restaurants.

Pack lots of cloths. There are days you will be in shorts and a short sleeved shirt (during the day mind you, you will have to bundle up at night) and others where you wear a jacket and pants all day. Last year we had maybe 4 out of 9 days that were warm enough to lounge around the pool. At least one of the water parks would be open, but I wouldn't spend the money on one at that time of year.

Take time to tour the resorts to see the Christmas decorations. Most are up by the day after Thanksgiving. However, some places (BC and BW come to mind) take a little longer. You definitely want to see the WL, GF, BC/YC, and BW. Almost all of the resorts will have some decorations.

The Osborne Lights should be up, and are worth seeing.

I arrived the day after Thanksgiving last year, so I think I can help you from that day after.

What all is going on during this time? Tons of stuff after Thanksgiving Day. The Candlelight Processional (not to be missed) & the Winter Arch lights @ EPCOT. Also, watch the fountains dance to the holiday music that's playing at the arch. The Osbourne Lights at MGM Studios. These are pretty cool to see. Last year they offered 3D glasses. There is MVMCP, but I did not think it was worth the $$. I would have dinner at O'Hana's, then head to the Polynesian beach and watch the 9pm showing of Fantasy, then the Electrical Water Parade, then MVMCP fireworks after that. They are shot off in the round and are really beautiful. Also, don't forget to resort hop and check out all the decorations.

Any e-ride nights I need to know about? No e-nights during this time, due to MVMCP.

What do you think the park hours will be? When I was there, the MK closed at 6pm on MVMCP nights, 7pm on non-MVMCP nights and 9pm on Satudays. AK was open 9-5, MGM 9-7 & EPCOT 9-9:30pm (with FW closing at 7pm).

When does MVMCP start? 7pm to midnight.

Will the water parks (or just one or something) be open during this time? Would it be too cold to do those anyway? Blizzard Beach was open & Typhoon Lagoon was closed. Last year it got quite cool on some days.

Will the new value resort be open during this time and if so- are they taking reservations already or will soon? I don't believe it opens until the middle of December.

Thanks for your replies!

Okay bummer on Pop Century not being opened by then. I was hoping.....

And Dec 2 is the FIRST day of MVMCP? Well poo... we'll be leaving around 6pm that evening to go home! :(

Any e-ride nights I need to know about? No e-nights during this time, due to MVMCP.
Okay so no eride nights due to MVMCP but that doesn't start till Dec 2- but they still don't have any in November?

Thanks for all the other info! I appreciate it!

Crowds are low around the first week in December. My family and I have "kicked off" the Christmas season the last 4 years and always go the first week in December.

Hi BibbidyBobbidyBoo!! :) Our family always goes the first week of December and the crowds have usually been very moderate, if that...we have a wonderful time going to the different resorts and looking at the Christmas Decorations. My family just loves the WL ones! :)

I see that you have had your question answered and I can't add anything more to that, but just wanted to say that I hope you have a magical time while at the World!! :)

Thanks! And I'm SURE we will..... how can we not in the best place in the world to vacation? (IMHO ofcourse) LOL

Well, we'd be there a day and a half of the first week of December. LOL Can't stay longer than that though. We went last Christmas week though -so the Christmas decorations aren't something we just gotta see-if you know what I mean.

I'm actually trying to sweet talk DH into doing BOTH trips that I'd mentioned on the other thread- the entire family on one trip and then me and my oldest daughter on another trip a couple months later. If we can swing that- then the "family" trip won't be "commando style" trying to do as much as possible- since I know me and my oldest would be going again soon. Make sense? It just seems like all our "family vacations" (even to other places- not just WDW) don't really feel like vacations. I'm sure it's partly that way for all larger families with young ones- it's more work than vacation! but maybe if we know I and my oldest are going again not too long after- we can take things easier, not so rushed, not trying to cram so much in that trip, etc. I think the problem is that I want to get my money's worth (and so do my older two children- go go go is our motto. LOL) But with the younger one holding us back and DH NOT being the commando type- we end up all stressed to some degree..... working too hard at vacation is no fun. LOL

We'll see what we end up doing.....

According to WDWIG there is a MVMCP on November 30, 2003 and I have seen several DISer's posting about going that night. I went in 2000 and it was great! Bring warm clothes as it can be chilly at night, especially after the sun sets.

Wow, that's great! Do I need to buy tickets for that NOW.... or later?
