Everybody Wants to be a WISH Cat (or dog, or goose, etc...) - October 2016 WISH Challenge

I had to buy a lot of clothes last 6 months. All clothes that I bought for my Spain holiday end of May are too big and I had to buy some again! I have very few jeans that fit me now, and very few dresses but I have no regrets at all! I had to do it. I had to learn to be nice to myself and to take care of myself

Makeup - try adding blush to your basic look. It always makes me feel healthier!

I am glad to hear that is not as bad as expected. I will follow the news today and I hope it moves further the away

@Dr Gunnie I hope you are not scared away by all our make up talk!! I was actually thinking about you this morning when I put on my make up wondering how unfair it is that a guy cannot just throw on some lipstick to make him feel better (or at least that would be frowned upon by most people who see a guy wearing lip stick). My BF always complains that it is unfair that I can have fun with silly colors on my nails, but he is expected to have his plain all the time...

If Dr Gunnie can make it through Princess month I am sure a little make-up won't scare him :rotfl2:. Your BF could paint his nails if he really wanted to ;):rotfl2: - When my twins were little and I would paint DDs nails her twin brother would line up for his turn (I would do his toe nails lol) - he never wanted to miss out on anything! twin rivalry - needless to say he outgrew this as he got older - he laughs about it now. There was a recent picture of Chris Hemsworth (aka Thor) with one of his nails painted - it was part of raising awareness/getting conversations started about domestic violence.

I have made it through one week of taking my lunch to work every day! I am very proud of myself and we haven't had any take-out for dinner either - I just need to keep that up over the weekend. The twins and I had our first dine-out night tonight when we dropped older son to work - we had yum cha - fried rice, cashew chicken (I loaded mine with lots of the vegetables from the dish) 2 small prawn & chicken steamed dumplings and 1 prawn cutlet. it was a nice relaxing way to end the work week - it was overlooking the river as the sun set and the lights at the boardwalk started to turn on. I just looked at the kilojoule difference between tonight's meal and my usual go to from McDonalds and yikes definitely a big improvement. It did cost a little more obviously - but then again it had a much different feel with time with the kids our chatting rather than us grabbing drive thru and eating in front of the tv. It should average out over the month as I don't think we will do it as often - and there are some times when we would slip and have a run of take-out over several nights which really adds up anyway! Thanks for listening to my ramblings as I convince myself sticking to my goal for the month is working.

Morning all! Day #1 of my 4 day weekend has begun.... and in typical "me" fashion, I am paralyzed by the possibilities! All of this "free" time and I cannot decide what to do! But I'm thinking I'll start with necessities and move on from there. I'll get a load or two of laundry on the clothesline (bright and sunny here today!), do some menu planning for the next 7-10 days, and then a quick clean-up of the house. THEN I will move on to some "ME" time.... not sure if this will be scrapbooking, thrift store shopping, or reading.... but I will report back later. DH isn't due home until about 10 pm tonight, so I have one more day of freedom from the dinner routine. DS just messaged me that he does not need to be picked up tonight (there was the possibility of him having plans with his girlfriend this weekend), so I am truly FREE all day! Tempted to take myself away for an afternoon "adventure", but the highways around here get INSANE on Columbus day weekend, so whatever I do needs to be done on the back roads! Plus hunting season has started, so I cannot venture too far into the woods.

Anyhow..... off to enjoy my day! I'll report back later! Hope you all have a FANTASTIC FRIDAY!..............P

Good morning! Today is a pizza lunch day at work to celebrate National Customer Service week. I've pre-tracked and I have a game plan and for that, I'm excited! I will get to go to the gym tonight which I've determined to be a necessary part of my routine going forward in order for me to be productive for the rest of the evening. So not nearly as many "rest" days for me going forward unless I feel like I truly need it.

I've decided that since my goal this month doesn't revolve around weight loss that I'm going to avoid the scale for the rest of the month. I'll weigh in on the 29th to see if I've lost anything over the month since my initial weigh in. But outside of that I'm going to focus on rebuilding healthy habits this month. Not to mention focusing how I feel in my own skin and in my clothes as opposed to a silly number on the scale!

Friday Fun!

So I know not everyone is a fan of cats. Who is your favorite Disney animal and why?

*Sorry for the delay this morning, guys. Everything was a little slow to start this morning but we are all safe down here in south Florida!

Fairly off-topic, I'll admit, and absolutely not intended to be a shop plug - but I just wanted to let everyone know that this weekend, a group of 65 Disney-inspired small shops are all donating 15% of their total profits from October 7 at 12:01am to October 9 at 11:59pm to the American Red Cross to aide those impacted by Hurricane Matthew. If anyone is interested in seeing some of the shops participating, all of them are tagged in the "We're Fundraising for Hurricane Relief" photo on my Instagram account - @craftiest_place_on_earth. On Monday we'll announce the grand total we're donating between the 65 of us.

Awesome idea!

I have made it through one week of taking my lunch to work every day! I am very proud of myself and we haven't had any take-out for dinner either - I just need to keep that up over the weekend.

Wonderful! I know it's not Wednesday but WOOHOO for YOU!

Sounds exciting! Have a wonderful, fun-derful day!

Good on you for planning ahead! I think its a wonderful idea to shift focus off the scale for a bit. This is my first month back to focusing on the scale after having taken a nice break. Now I feel a little more inspired :-)

SO glad to hear you are safe!

Fun Friday answer..... hmmmm..... SO MANY to choose from! I love Timon and Pumbaa's theory of "no worries".... wish I could be more like that! And I LOVE Marie's "tough girl" attitude! One of my favorite things to quote to my students is Thumper's "If you can't say something nice....." quote... and of course, who doesn't love the lovable but forgetful DORY! Hard to say, but if I absolutely HAD to pick one favorite.... I'll say the MAIN MOUSE.... Mickey himself! .......P

QOTD: Everybody is going to be shocked to hear that my favorite is Marie... I know, I know-- its so surprising.... everybody pick your jaws up off the ground. :rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2:

I'm a self proclaimed crazy cat lady and I just adore the fact that she is a cat and super sassy.

As for my goal, I was excited to see that I had lost a half a pound yesterday morning. Then sat around bored eating snack at my in laws and fear I shot that all to heck. I will re-evaluate on Sunday.

A little disappointed in the weather situation. No one is coming into our store today, so we are going to close down here soon. Now, if all was normal, DH and I would hop in the car and head straight up to Disney, but I am NOT going to go chasing that storm! My bestie that was to meet us at Disney this weekend is going no matter what. She is leaving Atlanta around 3pm today and should arrive late after the storm will be creeping up on the South Carolina coast. I told her to stay as far west as she can. I could leave late too or just wait until tomorrow. Tomorrow looks lovely up in Orlando if nothing is too damaged and the parks open as usual. Overcast and cool (lovely for me who is tired of the hot sun haha). But again, it's the waiting and seeing that hard. I know, I know... first world problems. I'm just venting :)

Sorry - been busy these last few days. Had a bunch of IEP meetings this week at work and just now getting back into the normal routine. Plus, this week is homecoming which is always a little crazy. Don't worry, it wasn't the make-up talk! I do wish I could put something on to hide the bags under my eyes some mornings... but I'll be ok. ;)

I'm going through another wardrobe change right now. All of the clothes I bought for school a few months ago are all too big now. It really stinks, but I guess it falls under the list of good problems to have. I took some of my pants to the tailor to get taken in, so I'll get those on Monday and hopefully they'll be ok. Most of my new shirts are all now too big, but still wearable. The shirts that I got toward the beginning of the summer are not wearable anymore. I'm going to have to put a lot on ebay here soon. Next week when we go back to St Louis we are going to hit the outlets, so I'll start building my wardrobe up again. I never realized that weight loss would be so expensive!

So I know not everyone is a fan of cats. Who is your favorite Disney animal and why?

Going to go with Simba - Lion King came out when I was in high school and I remember being dragged to go see it with my girlfriend at the time. I ended up loving it. Still one of my favorites. My kids like the new Lion Guard shows, so I've become of fan of those too.

Hi all. Glad it sounds like everyone is safe so far!

As for yesterdays questions...when I feel like a goose it is really hard for me to feel like a swan. Sometimes I Just have to wait til the next day and start over!

My favorite Disney animal is a super hard one! I love Iago for his sarcasm. I love Gus from Cinderalla because he is so sweet. Those are just a couple of the ones that stand out for me.

Who's my fav.... well that would be my main squeeze Chip. I can't remember the back story on how this romance started, but whoever was playing him at Garden Grille during my last trip did such a wonderful job. Dale blew by my table like I wasn't even there but when Chip came I patted my heart and made the heart shape with my hands and got extra hugs and attention. We're doing Garden Grille again on the upcoming trip, so I'll get to see my boy again.

So we had a pretty strong wind storm last night, not nearly what those in the path of the hurricane are dealing with, but there are power outages all over the area and it was a blustery commute in this morning... which I almost didn't make. I've been coughing and sniffling for over a week and thought it was food related, but have come to realize I am actually sick with the bug that's been going around. No energy or brain power (hence the inability to remember how Chip and I hooked up)this morning at all. I was thinking about staying home, but my Sister comes over to my house (we live next door to each other) to sleep and take a break when the care worker is there on Friday, so I dragged myself sorry self out of the house. It's going to be a long droopy day, but I am so grateful to be going thru it now and not when I'm on vacation.

Planning on a road trip out to my favorite yarn store tomorrow. I want to pick up some Lopi-lite Icelandic yarn to start working on a Christmas project. I'm almost to the point where I'm ready to do my first heal on my first socks... but you know the next project always has to be queued up before you finish the one you're one. She with the most wips on needles wins, you know.

Stay safe everyone!

Thanks for the suggestions to try Lularoe... I"ll check them out!

uuhh that's almost like saying do you have a favourite child?! But I do love Tigger!

That is great to hear.

October 8 - Question of the Weekend

IMG_0054.JPG

Oh, Uncle Waldo! :rotfl:

Let's talk beverages - it is the weekend after all!

What's your favorite beverage (alcoholic or otherwise)? Are you a "juicer" type person? Maybe you like smoothies? Have you increased or decreased your intake of certain beverages on your journey to a healthier you?

We made it through the storm! Luckily we didn't have any damage but our power has been out since noon yesterday. We packed up the kids this morning and are heading to AK for the day, they are going stir crazy. Hopefully tonight when we get home the power will be on.

Today's question: I love sweet tea. It use to be root beer but I gave up soda about 6 months ago. I have a sweet tea about once or twice a week as a treat.

A quick check in (let's not talk about weight... But my exercise goal is still on track!).

Yesterday's QOTD:
My favorite Disney animal is definitely Remy! Ratatouille is still one of my favorite Disney/Pixar films. And Remy is just so adorable! I also think that he has a great message about food: you are supposed to savor it, not gulp it down. I love food and the movie is about loving food in the healthy way. There is a great little scene about Remy trying to teach Emile about really tasting food. I do have problems with this, so Remy is a great "role model" for me!!

Today's QOTD:
Sparkling water (club soda, soda water, seltzer, whatever you want to call it...) and Earl Grey tea. I can totally survive without any other drink. I especially have really come off anything with sugar. I love orange juice and grapefruit juice, but they are only a treat for special occasion breakfasts (and a few days on vacation). I am also quite fond of mostly anything with alcohol from beer to wine to cocktails or even pure spirits (not as shots to be downed, but to be savored as well). But as long as I have my sparkling water and my black hot tea (preferably Earl Grey, but basic will do as well in a pinch), I am fine.

I am relieved!!

And btw, you probably could get away with wearing a tiny bit of concealer under your eyes to minimize the darkness and without anyone noticing what you are doing. And if the eyes are puffy, a good eye cream could do wonders. There are some nice lines for men out there. I made my BF use some eye cream after listening to his complaints about how tired he looked for long enough and now he is much better than me in taking care of his skin around the eyes...

Okay..... I do own a juicer and enjoy using it from time to time for quick "juice fasts".... but nothing extreme! Just hate the mess and waste it creates. I do love a good smoothie and I am lucky enough to own a Vitamix..... so making smoothies is super easy!

I definitely decreased my intake of BEER and WINE along this journey..... I don't find that I miss the wine much.... but I do miss the BEER! I can have a light low carb beer for 3 SmartPoints, but as my beer palate grows, I am enjoying that less and less. I'm finding I'd rather spend 5 +/- SmartPoints and enjoy a nicer beer. That being said, I rarely indulge in more than one a week, unless it is a holiday or something like that. I splurged while I was in California and had one every day I think! I couldn't tell you the last time I had a mixed cocktail..... but I'm sure it was a traditional margarita, on the rocks, with salt.

As far as HEALTHIER beverages go.... I enjoy hot tea (green, black, herbal, etc) mostly during cool/cold evenings. I drink iced tea a few days a week instead of or in addition to water. I sweeten my tea minimally with stevia drops. My go-to drink most of the time when I am home or eating out is plain seltzer with a slice of lemon or lime. I have a Soda Stream and excellent well water, so it is easy and not terribly expensive.

A quick check in (let's not talk about weight... But my exercise goal is still on track!).

I think that we are "drink compatible"! And why didn't I say Remy!!??? I have a Remy utensil holder in my kitchen that I adore! I'd be happy to redecorate my entire kitchen in a Ratatouille theme if it were still available!

******************

Hey friends! Kind of a lazy day here today. I ended up running some errands yesterday (including picking up DS and taking him to run out for a few things he needed), so not exactly the productive day I pictured, but at least I did what I wanted and not what the job was dictating! Today has been just a handful of "this-and-that" kind of stuff here..... laundry, picking the last of the garden, digging up some herbs to bring in before the frost, scrubbing down the mudroom porch and decorating it a bit for fall.... nothing terribly exciting, just stuff that needed to be done.

Happy to report I am finally shaking loose some of my Disneyland weight gain. Not sure if I will lose it ALL by month's end, but I'm trying!

DH and I are off on a short road trip to Ticonderoga, New York tomorrow to see a Star Trek exhibit..... yup, I'm married to a nerdy Trekky! Not my idea of a great day, but he doesn't ask to do this kind of thing very often.... it should be fun, but a long drive for one day. I mentioned leaving tonight and staying over someplace, but he didn't seem interested. As long as he will do at least half of the driving, I'm okay doing it in one day (3 hr each way).

Hope you are all having a relaxing weekend....................P

I have a Soda Stream and excellent well water, so it is easy and not terribly expensive.

Exactly my method, too! My BF family was visiting this summer and they were so amazed at the quality of our drinking water here. They are from Florida and have water similar to the Orlando swamp water. :crazy2:

I can have a light low carb beer for 3 SmartPoints, but as my beer palate grows, I am enjoying that less and less. I'm finding I'd rather spend 5 +/- SmartPoints and enjoy a nicer beer.

Here in Germany there are some excellent alcohol free (and with that also less carb and calories) beers. Do you have those in the US? I love one of those as a treat now and then.

I think that we are "drink compatible"!

:thumbsup2:rotfl2:

I'd be happy to redecorate my entire kitchen in a Ratatouille theme if it were still available!

I can tell you a secret: Disneyland Paris is where you would find that stuff... They have so much Ratatouille merchandise there in the shop next to the ride.

---

Did another DVD workout today and feel really good. I am supposed to do the first two workout four times each alternating between them. But I am currently at number three and already feel like I should move on. I remember when I got that set for the first time I was struggling during that first set already. It seems that even though I have had extended periods of inactivity, I don't lose everything that I had worked for. It is nice to see that at least a little bit of the hard work remains and can be used as a foundation.

Also have a wonderful goose/swan story! Yesterday after work I needed to pick something up at the department store. When I went through the cosmetics department, I looked at the Benefit counter because I need to replace my mascara (I love their stuff) and the girl there asked me if I was interested in getting my eye brows done for free at their Brow Bar. The had a new girl that was in training and therefor were looking for volunteers for her to train with. She was not totally new and obviously already had learned how to do it, but needed practice. She was so sweet! It took her a long time, but now I have wonderful eye brows. And she even colored them for free! My eye brows have been bothering me for quite some time, but I am so lousy at doing something to them myself and currently I am saving a lot of money for travel and just did not want to spend the money for getting them done. So this was perfect!

I am trying to stick to 100% water and if I'm feeling adventurous - maybe unsweet tea; Luckily my work makes a bunch of flavored water and that makes it even better. I was getting really addicted to Diet Dr. Pepper.
