Every-ONE is coming up DAISY!!! WDW & WWoHP w/ LOTS of pics - FINISHED 10/13, p 24

I love that decorated golf court! So cool. I have never seen that. Were those people performers?

OMG about that woman!!!! NO ONE should be wearing shorts like that, especially that lady!!!! Wow.

After our nice, long afternoon break it was time for dinner at Ohana! I had tried Ohana back in 2007 and wasn't impressed. Yes, you read that correctly. NOT IMPRESSED. It was loud, chaotic and the meat was gross and dry. However, over the last 6 years, all I've heard is how great it is. Both clients and friends are constantly telling me how they had such great experiences there, so I decided to give it another go.

On the way to the Polynesian we swung by Chick-Fil-A to get a kids meal. I have an extremely picky eater on my hands and I wanted a peaceful dinner. He might have eaten some of what they had at Ohana, and I've heard you can even request a grilled cheese. But I thought I'd play it safe and get something I knew he'd eat.

Telling Aunt Terrie about the waterfall at the Poly.....

Our reservation was for a party of 8 since we were meeting Lynda and Avery again and this time her hubby, Josh, was meeting us after work. We got to the Poly and met up with Lynda. I think my Mom may have detoured to the gift shop b/c I know this is when Seth ended up with his blinking glowy stick thing that he kept by his side for the rest of the trip. Good purchase, Granny! :thumbsup2

We found Lynda and Avery, and after I checked us in, we found a seat in the lobby. I think Josh met us while we were waiting in the lobby.

Sweet boys!

I don't think we waited more than a few minutes and we were being buzzed. We got a big table near the hostess stand (which I kinda liked since we were sort of away from all the action...kept Seth less distracted!). We ordered drinks and Terrie and I were promptly brought one of these.

Woooohoooo!!!!!! I've been waiting for one of these for 1.5 years! :thumbsup2 My fav drink at WDW. Heaven in a Pineapple! :cloud9:

The food came FAST. Which was good when you have little ones.

Mixed Greens with Mango-Poppyseed dressing....

This was okay. I actually remember liking the salad they had before with the lime dressing better.

Seth had started this new thing where he'd put a finger on his mouth and then say, "Hmmmmmmm....." It was SO CUTE.

Granny and Seth pondering....hhhhhmmmmmmmmmm......

:lmao:

By the way, I love the chairs at Ohana. Seth won't sit in a highchair now. He uses a booster at home but it's one where I can buckle him in. Every time I've used one at a restaurant, he ends up almost (or all the way) falling out of it. I hate those things. So for the most part, I don't use anything and just sit him in a seat next to me. Booths work great b/c I can trap him in. Individual chairs are usually a problem. But these are big and soft, and have arms. So he would have to climb over the arm to get out, and it was easy for me to stop him. He only tried a couple times before he figured out it was all in vain. :rotfl: Great chairs!

Honey Coriander Chicken Wings and Pork Fried Dumplings....

OMG...those wings were SO GOOD. And I don't even eat wings. Ever. I hate chicken on a bone. But these were awesome. The dumplings were good too, but the wings were to die for.

By the way, I forgot to take a picture of the sauces but they were all good. The peanut sauce was very yummy.

Chicken, which was decent.....

Egg noodles and stir-fried veggies....

The noodles were really good. Veggies were good too but I liked the noodles more.

Pork Loin, also decent....

I forgot to take a picture of the steak, which was decent, but you can see it in the picture below. When the server brought shrimp by, I asked for some, and he dumped enough for 3 people on my plate!!!!

But it was the best meat, I thought. Absolutely delicious.

Playing with Mommy's alcoholic beverage umbrella :lmao:.....

:lmao:

Don't worry...I broke off the pointy part of the toothpick.

Hi, Avery! Such a cutie!

Bread pudding with ice cream and bananas and caramel sauce....

This was SO GOOD. I didn't eat much of it b/c I was miserable by that point. But it was awesome.

The server also brought Seth and Avery ice cream with Mickey sprinkles, which was a very sweet touch. Seth ate the sprinkles but not the ice cream.

Dinner was wonderful and I'm glad I gave it a second chance. I will return! I think Ray would like it too - he's never been here. I bought Mom's dinner that night as a thank-you for coming with me and helping out so much with Seth.

I had to take Seth to the bathroom for a diaper change and, again, encountered the small changing tables. So we stood up to change again. I think this was when I realized we'd probably have to do this the rest of the trip. As Crush says, go with the flow, right?? ::yes::

After dinner Lynda, myself and the boys stopped to get a picture, which was comical. Check it out....

Oh, well! At least they're funny! :lmao:

It's kind of neat to compare it to our first picture together. This was taken in November 2010. Seth was not quite 3 months old, so Avery was about the same. We were on our way to Nashville for Thanksgiving, and they were on their way to Florida, moving there from Illinois (Lynda, correct me if that's not right), and we were passing on the interstate, so we stopped at a gas station to chat for 5 minutes before heading on down the road.

My, how time flies!!!! :)

Next update.....breakfast with some Disney Junior friends!

I'm so glad you enjoyed your diner here. It's one of our family favorites. The series of pictures of you with Lydia are a hoot. It did bring a smile to my face. It reminded me of some of our attempts at pictures with groups of people. Someone is always looking somewhere else.:goodvibes

Thanks vamassey for your reply. I will do specific replies later. For now, I'm just wondering if there's more than one person reading this! Haha. Seriously, I'm considering closing this down because I don't think it's being seen by many. Not really worth taking the time and effort to write it when I only get 1 reply in over 24 hours of updating. Is there anybody out there????

I am still here and loving all your updates. I'm glad you enjoyed your meal at Ohanas. We had a reservation for Ohana on our last trip that I canceled. We have 3 picky eaters (myself and my 2 kids) and I was scared we wouldn't like it. I know my husband would love it, so one day we will have to give it a try.

I think everyone must be on vacation. The boards have been so slow that I might even get caught up.

I'm here! Been out of town for several days and trying to catch up... I love your Ohana pictures!

I could go for a Lefou’s Brew right now. Looking at the menu. LOL
He certainly looks like he is enjoying the play area and getting wet.
‘Ohana I was not impressed either. Hope it changes for you.
Chick Fil A never had and never will.
Ooh Lapu Lapu. The best drink.
Glad you liked it. We ate there 2 times and both times were blah so no more for us. Always good to retry it and see.

Thanks guys! Sorry to be whiney. I don't mean to be. It's just hard to be motivated to write a TR if it doesn't seem like many people are into it. I hope that makes sense! Thank you for you guys who are here!!! :goodvibes

No, it's totally understandable. It's a lot of work!

I'm glad that you re-tried Ohana and enjoyed it this time around. There are a lot of restaurants that I still want to try, so a return to Ohana might be a ways off, but we liked it when we ate there and I sure wouldn't mind a plate-ful of those pot stickers right about now.

Coming out of lurkerdom to say hi!! I'm reading and very much enjoying your report. All caught up now. Glad you liked OHana better this time. It's definitely one of our faves. I could go for a Lapu Lapu right now. Sigh.

Taking some vacation time and finally have an opportunity to catch up on the action. What a fun trip!

So happy to hear that you had a good experience on your return to Ohana. Like you I didn't love it the first time (several years ago) and haven't been back. Might have to try it again!

Did you hear that they are no longer serving the Lapu Lapu in a pineapple? Makes me sad.

Seth's "hmmmm" face is adorable!

Yum, Ohana is one of our favourites! So glad you liked it better this time. :)

Why were you miserable by dessert time though? I'll admit, I read that part quite a few times to try and work it out!

I'm still reading and loving your trip report! Please keep writing! :)

I'm still here! I try to post when I read, but it usually feels like most people around the TR boards know each other and I don't want to be an intruder. Not that anyone's made me feel that way whatsoever! Just my own stupid thing. ;)

Anyway...

Love the Ohana update. We have it scheduled for December. I seem to remember the meat being really dry last time I was there. I wasn't really looking forward to it and was thinking about cancelling, but you've convinced me to keep it! That was a great idea to stop and get something else for Seth. Did they give you any problems with bringing in outside food?

Coming out of lurkdom to say I'm still here & reading! :wave2::wave:

Glad you gave O'hana a second chance, it really is a great place to eat! :thumbsup2

I'm still here! I have been behind on a few TR's but am getting myself caught up now, love the Ohana pics, that place is on my list of ones I want to try next year when we go, glad you gave it another chance and liked it.

i am still here playing catch up as always. Either working or not being able to in from a computer when I am not working is what is keeping me from being caught up. add in actually working when I am at work too. : )

I have had good meals at Ohana, and not so good meals, ranging from slow service to meh food. I will go back since the good outweigh the bad.

Hey tinkycheeks.... some of of us"know" each other and some just know each other from what we read. I do believe most of us have met on the boards and met up in real life because of it. Jump in and share, don't feel like you intrude because you don't. We would love to get to know you better. :flower:
