For the past years, I have traveled from Baton Rouge to New Orleans to travel the non stop services of Southwest Airlines to Orlando. With Hurricane Katrina came a sudden stop to that. (I know, I should be ashamed worrying about this with all those that have so much more to worry about) I was forced a few weeks ago to fly out of Baton Rouge on Continental which made a stop in Houston first. It was excruciating! Service was horrible and I hated the layover. Anyway, as I was wallowing in my misery, I just received word that Delta will have a daily non stop flight to Orlando out of Baton Rouge!!!! This is really too good to be true. The price of the flight rivals southwest. That is even better. Thanks for listening.

We were also fans of driving to New Orleans to fly Southwest direct to Orlando (except we drive from Lafayette). I found out about Delta's new direct flight last week and I am closely watching the prices for our Mardi Gras trip to Orlando. Right now its pricing at $287 but I am hoping that will go down $100 or so when Southwest opens its schedule past Feb 3. For our trip later this month we are driving to Jackson, MS and got round trip tickets out of there for $70 per person thanks to DING.
