Everthing you wanted to know about Uber/Lyft at WDW

Which is a better/faster option taxi or Uber/Lyft from resort to resort? We have family staying at POFQ that will need to get to POLY frequently to meet up with us during a 7 day stay next week. Trying to prepare them on best option and contact info. Thanks :)
Faster? Time wise it makes no difference. Taxi's may or may not need to be called. Usually they do. Uber/Lyft will also need to be called. They are usually only about 5 min away. Uber/Lyft will be MUCH cheaper

Thank you, that is what I meant, if taxis are usually on site they would be faster than waiting on uber/lyft but was not sure if taxis are allowed to wait on site at POFQ? anyone know or does bell services get a taxi for you?

I doubt you could say either is faster. However, with uber/lyft you don't necessarily have to go to a designated location (i.e., the resort's main building) to be picked up.

Yes, bell services will call a taxi for you. They are not regularly sitting there at the resort waiting. They are nearby just like Uber/Lyft are.

This is a great thread!

Couple questions:
1. We have an early breakfast ADR at Magic Kingdom, 8:15am. Would it be faster to get an Uber/Lyft or just take the resort buses from AS Movies? What time should we request an Uber/Lyft?

2. Thinking about using Uber/Lyft to got to the airport at the end of our trip. We fly out on a Wednesday eve at 7pm.
We will need a ride from AS Movies. What time should we contact the Uber/Lyft and request a ride.

Re: tipping. At home, I usually tip with Starbucks or Subway cards (I have a stash of several $5 cards - there are school fundraisers where they sell these cards and I just buy a bunch). I dont like to carry cash. If I use Lyft I tip in the app, but with Uber I give the drivers a gift card. They have all seemed very appreciative.

Thanks in advance!

1. I think it's quicker but you'll want to get your ride to CR since you'd end up at TTC otherwise, and then need to get on a boat or monorail to get to MK. I'd call for Lyft about 7:30
2. 2 questions first, do you have Pre-Check? are you using RAC?

Yes, we do have TSA Precheck and Yes, we will be using RAC

Thanks :)

Just like us. We always leave Disney (via Uber/Lyft) 2 hours before our flight leaves. We've always had ample time, including time to sit at the gate before boarding. Our last flight was also at 7:00 and 5:00, even with rush hour, was still plenty of time.

I've used Uber a lot but not with this situation. How would I handle this? Last day, we check out but leave our bags at BWV and spend the day at Disney Springs. End of day need Uber to the airport but first need to pick up our bags at BWV. Would the same driver be able to accommodate that trip or would I have to put in two separate requests?

You can check your bags at BWV that day. However, you'd still need to do something with your carryon. Not sure how Uber would do a trip with a stop at BW before heading to the airport. Any reason you aren't using (free) DME to the airport?

If you need to stop back at bwv, just enter mco as your destination when ordering the car, and then tell the driver you need to make a stop at your resort. I get this all the time from people and its not an issue.

Do ya really need to ask why someone wouldnt want to take DME? ;)

Good info. We almost always pick Epcot for our last day for several reasons, one of which is their luggage lockers for our carry on bags. If we were to ever want to change our plans I am going to keep this in mind

This could be perfect for us. We will be spending our last day at MK, but leaving our carryons at AS Movies. I was going to use Disney transportation to get back to the hotel and then use an uber / lyft to go to the airport - but it might be quicker to just have them pick us up at MK, stop at hotel for a minute while we grab our carryons from bell services, and then continue on to the airport. If we were to do this. Our flight leaves at 7pm on a Wed night, what time should we plan to leave MK? We have TSA Precheck and we plan to use the DAC service for our luggage.

I used uber this past Saturday for transportation for myself and daughter to MCO. I had a couple of slightly uncomfortable things occur. He was a nice older man and do not want to complain to uber about him and risk his job, but I was under the impression that you pay with the app, then tip upon arrival. When we approached the toll he asked me if I would reimburse him (4.50). I told him I would add it to the tip. I realize this is a small amount, just wondering if this is the norm?

Does this work when staying offsite? We'll be at Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista and would love to swing by, grab our bags, and head to the airport in the late afternoon :) Thanks!

Uber was not available at WDW during our trip last week. We tried a few times, and had to take taxis. Has anyone else experienced this?

No, I've never seen that. What did it say? All cars taken? App not working?

That happened one time to me here at home. I found it hard to believe that no cars were available. Just for kicks I restarted my phone and it magically started working!
