If folks visiting wdw/florida want to head further south and visit the everglades --several things are accessible. Also might be helpful for folks extending their stay after a cruise out of Miami. Husband is in a power wheelchair so we were thrilled to find several accessible activities.
We drove thru the everglades this weekend sfter relocating to South Florida from NC last summer. We were able to get on a tour boat out of the National Parks . (entrance near Everglade City) On the boat we saw lots of dolphin jumping out of the water!
We also stopped at the National Park at Shark Valley and were able to get on the tram. It was a 15 mile ride throught the everglades! Saw lots of wildlife -- especially alligators. Very informative rangers narrated the tour and we really enjoyed it! The 15 mile loop is also a bike path and many folks were riding along and saw one man pushing his manual chair! However we prefer the tram!
We haven't taken the swamp buggy or airboat yet but found several are accessible! So that is possible too! We plan to take those tours when my sister comes down next month.
