Everest Expidition 2005? What are the chances?

So, we are heading back to the mouse Dec. 11 - 19th (over my BIRTHDAY no less!!!) I am so excited, I can hardly stand it. I didn't think we would return so soon after our Dec 2003 trip since we live in Seattle and DL is much closer. We are headed to DL in March since I have a conference. Both DL & DW in one year - I could scream!!!!

Anyway, I am a coaster fan and have been reading that they are TRYING to finish the new Everest ride in Fall of 2005. What do you think the chances of this happening are - what is the gossip???

I have been off the boards for the last 8 months in an effort to NOT drive myself crazy with desire to return, so I am a bit out of the loop.

We just started planning last night, and I already know we will be doing MVMCP, the lights in MGM that were down in 03 and so much more I can hardly type!!!! :jumping4:

im with you !!! we are going in oct and so far we have caught soft openings of mission space and stitch im hoping for an october pattern!

I would love to be surprised with a chance to check out ExEv in 12/05. We will be there from 12/08-12/18.

The ride's official opening date is early 2006. Disney expects a soft opening sometime in late 2005. Keep those fingers crossed.

That is what I was hoping you all would say! I LOVE coasters, and LOVE Everest, so the two together would be a thrill!!! Here is hoping for soft openings in 2005!!!!

We are going Dec 2-11th and Im not holding my breath, but if there was a soft opening it would make my DD's trip!

We caught Mission SPace during an early, soft opening. The good news was the most people weren't aware that it was open, but the bad news was that they were not quite ready for prime time. So, keep your fingers crossed!

(edit) After posting this, I was curious as to how early we saw the Mission Space attraction. According to allears website, the official soft opening was August 15, 2003 (see link - http://allearsnet.com/tp/ep/e_ms.htm ). We were there the last week in July, into the first week of August. The digital pictures I have, show a date of 8/5/2003.

Using only this as an example, even if you see the soft opening as a week, or 2 after your trip date, you stand at least a small chance of seeing the attraction.

Hi there,

We visit from Scotland for 2 weeks each year, just before we visited in mid July 2003 someone posted a tip that the soft opening we taking place when the planet was turning. Well we got lucky, by chance one of the kids spotted it and we rode it twice that afternoon..

Hopefully we shall ride Ex Everest in Oct 05 if not then Jul 06..

Just expanding on your dates, we were at Epcot on Jul 3rd (2003) and DH and kids got to ride Mission Space - guess they were part of the guinea pig group. So as you can see they do it even earlier in some cases. In our case it was 6 weeks prior to the "soft opening." The key was being in the right place at the right time, DH asked the CMs hanging around the attraction and they gave him a head's up that they opened each day at 3PM for 3 hours to give folks a trial run of the ride.
