Do they do the baby swap thing on Everest or how does that work?? My 4 year old would love to ride it but he is too short (I wouldn't let him either no matter how much of a daredevil he is).

I think they do the baby swap at that attraction but like you I don't know what is the procedure. My DS is looking forward to EE. Like your son, my boy is a thrill seeker and he is 5 yrs old but tall for his age!!!!!

Yes, they do the baby swap for Everest. What my husband and I did last trip was go up to the FastPass entrance, explained that we wanted to use the babyswap and were given a fastpass slip (except this one says babyswap on it). I went ahead and waited in the standby line (wasn't that long at the time) while my husband took care of our son. When I returned he went to the FastPass entrance and turned in the babyswap ticket so he could ride while I took care of DS.

It also allows you to bring up to two guests with you. I think too...not too sure though....you can only use it if a rider is too small to ride. Which you said your son is so you should have no problem. Hope that helps :)

(Oh, and we were there June of this year if that helps too!)

We were there in February for the soft openings of EE and they were doing the baby swap then. Not sure if it's changed or not but here's what they did for us.....I went first and they just put me in the single rider line. I waited "maybe" 5 minutes to ride. While I was in line the CM gave my DH a fast pass (at the time the fast passes were out and he gave it to DH by hand). I think he got on faster then me. Worked pretty good.

It's the only ride we used baby swap for. The other rides each of us just got a fast pass and went one at a time. Worked out pretty good for us.

This next trip no need for baby swap! I'm taking my older two kids and they ride everything. That's a first for me and I'm very excited!!!! :goodvibes

what do singles do with their kids? Like if you have a child too small to ride and you want to ride are you just out of luck?

This is the one ride DH have ever done babyswap on and we had a trying experience with it. The CM's didn't seem to know what to do, and basically they just had us use our fastpasses and go one at a time (or maybe it was the single ride line). They said that was the fastest way, but it was all very confusing and the ride ends kind of far from where you get on. It sounds like from the other posts that maybe they have worked some of the confusion out. It is a fun ride...I knew very little about it b4 riding and was in for a treat!

You got it.

We did the baby swap at WDW last year, and we still can't find out whose kid we came home with. But, we're happy with the trade, so we aren't too worried.

:rolleyes1

Look at it this way...what is the alternative? To leave your young child alone with complete strangers so you can ride a theme park attraction? While said strangers are trying to do their jobs and can't be distracted by said young child...and certainly cannot provide the necessary level of supervision/care required for a young child? I don't see how this could ever be a good thing. :confused3

Last year was my first time with DD 1 y.o. and we did baby swap on ALL the rides. All we did was go to the CM and tell them we were doing the baby swap and they just gave us the tickets. Now, if i didn't have a baby i would have gotten away with it so i wonder how many people legitimately use the service and how many take advantage of it?! :stir:

EXAMPLE:

The line for SOARIN' and MS was outrageous when we went last December and the wait time was at least 90 minutes each ride. Through the baby swap, it took less than 10 minutes to get on both rides. In fact, it took no longer than 10 minutes on ANY ride in any park utilizing the baby swap service.

I have traveled several times alone with child and one time thought of hiring one of those childcare folks from "Fairy Godmother" or such. I called and they said if you bought ticket for the person or got one of the childcare reps that had an annual pass (you could request), they would go with you to the parks. I thought of this for one of the nights when they have Extra Magic hours and the parks would be less crowded. I figured I could ride all the rollercoasters and rides that my DD was too short for and know that she was being taken care of.

Then I changed my mind and said it wasn't worth the money or not really knowing who you are leaving your child with when you are on the rides. No offense against the childcare services. I just know that the one time I got off of a ride and couldn't locate them immediately that I would go into overdrive panic and they may have just gone to the restroom.

Thanks for this info! we plan on doing the SWAP since we have 2 babies and i'm NOT PREGNANT this year! :woohoo:

I totally agree with this. I would NEVER let my DD out of my sight for one moment.

We just got back and did baby swap several times and did Expedition Everest on Sunday. We always used fastpasses and went to the fastpass lane when our time came up and I would ride with my 2 older kids (both old enough for all the rides) and the CM would give us a "rider swap" pass good for 3 people. So dh would then ride with our 2 older kids again. At first I thought my older kids would feel dragged down by their little brother, but when they learned they were going to ride everything 2 times in a row, they were pretty darned happy! :rotfl:

I don't think you can take advantage of it. My daughter was in her stroller about 10 feet away with DH (who was unloading hat, sunglasses, etc. before getting on the ride), and I just thought I would go get the switch pass. The CM asked me to see the baby and the adult that would be riding first. And I had to wait while DH was waiting in line, so it's not like I just got to walk right in and ride it with a switch pass. The point is that you don't have to wait twice. Maybe when you were there the CM' weren't very strict about seeing the entire party, but everytime I had to show DH, myself, and DD to be able to get a switch pass!
