Ever WON a trip to Disney? Or a prize big enough to pay for the trip??

When I was 17 yrs old (I'm 30 now), my Dad won a Disney trip through CBS and K-Mart. He had to match numbers in the K-mart sunday ad to numbers on the new CBS shows. We flew Delta, stayed at GF, had food vochers, park hoppers tickets..........that's all I can remember. As for the taxes, well, my Parents were the ones who had to pay them, so I don't know how much.

i did! i did!
it was back in 1996. our local radio station played the mickey mouse club song every day and when you heard it you had to be the 10th caller. they did this like 10x a day. i was one of the callers. so then they put everyone's name in a hat and pulled the lucky winner!!!!! yea!!!! it was for 5 nights, air, hotel, passes, car, for 4 people, the whole thing. so we filled out the paper work, picked dates and everything went smooth. the day before we left they called and said they had to switch the hotel, because they were over booked. ok now i'm thinking i knew it was too good to be true! but no everthing was great. we got back to the hotel on the 1st day and they was the biggest basket of stuff on the bed with a letter appoligizing (sp) for having to switch us at the last minute! gourmet cookies, candy, fruit, just tons of stuff. we added on a couple of days just so we could be there for the week. it was just my dh and i at the time, so we took our niece for a graduation gift. it was the best ever.
now everytime i see a contest about wdw i have to enter. you just never know. maybe i could win again!!!! i hope!!!!

One year when I was working, I was choosen employee of the year. The prize that came with it was a trip to the Walt Disney Area. NOt inside. I don't know where I got the guts, but since I already had ressi for a hotel inside I asked if I could have the money value of the trip to off set my expenses for the trip I already had. To my total surprise they agreed. So I guess I sort of won a trip to Disney :cool1:

Well I won a cocktail dress that was worn this year in the opening dance number in Miss USA 2005. The dress was by the designer Tadashi....I should get it in the next week or so!!! :Pinkbounc It's my first time winning something so that it comes from a beauty pageant ( I'm usually a NY USA delegate for our state level) this is exciting to wear my win!!!

There was a coloring contest for Mickey Mouses birthday I believe when I was in 2nd grade. I was trying to win a trip by designing him a card but ended up winning one of 50 2nd place watches. I haven't seen the watch for a while, but its somewhere in my house. ::MickeyMo

Well, maybe this thread will bring me some pixie dust :teeth: I just entered a contest on the Disney site to win a DCL cruise. And I did the survey - could win $500 - all I want is someone to send me a discount postcard lol!

Many, many years ago I won a two week cruise to Asia plus 3 days in Singapore for Christmas shopping. Since this was considered a luxury liner it was mostly a geriatric crowd but the two ladies in their 80's at our table were the most fun!

I'd love to win a Disney trip and have been trying for years! Since I've never gotten lucky, I'm finally going to WDW next year on my own dime.

My wife, pictured below, won a trip for two to SuperBowl XXXII in 1998 at her place of employment. It was awarded via a drawing to those who supported the United Way. As a result, we flew out of NorthEast PA in an ice storm, landed in San Diego to 72 degree temps. In the airport we met Richard Petty who was a greeter there. We picked up our free rental car, checked into a posh hotel in La Jolla and drove to Tijuana for the day. We missed the Donkey Show. Next day we got the game tickets which I scalped for $2000, EACH! We watched the game in a Mexican pub in La Jolla called Jose's where we spent {drank} $200. On returning home I added $1000 to our windfall and took the family (5) to WDW.

I joined a travel agent friends team for the Aids walk last year and I won 2 Round trip Airline tickets to anywhere AA flies. My daughter & I chose Disney World.
We are going in September.

Now - that is awesome!!! :rotfl:

Great thread! I have my own story!!

April 2004 - I was a captain of a Relay for Life team for my local Relay - our county has probalby 4-5 "Relays". So for the entire COUNTY - Southwest donated two pairs of round trip tickets anywhere SWA flies (green passes), and we sold $1 raffle tickets, which 100% of the profit went to Relay! I sold lots of raffle tickets and my husband and I bought 40 and each put our names on 20.

Then, in May 2004, we went to Disney. We were flying home the Saturday after Memorial Day - on Southwest and they asked for volunteers to give up seats b/c the flight was overbooked - we'd just have to take a later flight and they were giving free flights - we got on the list, but then they did not need us to give up the seats.

Well, we got home, and lo and behold - there was a message on our answering machine from the American Cancer Society saying that DH had one a pair of the tickets out of over 25,000 entries!!! We still haven't used them and since we live in NC - it's too cheap to fly to Orlando from here to really get there 'full' value (our trip in 12 days - the R/T flights were less than $300 total for us both)! People pay $300+ per ticket for these things on ebay!!! :earseek:

Ive never won anything my entire life...well that is not entirely true.
When I was 10 years old...at our local fair...I won a stuffed kangaroo.
I was estatic. Is that pathetic or what? hah

Me! Back in January 2001, I won a trip for 4 to Disneyland & a special sneak preview of DCA before it officially opened. It was a radio contest...I don't know how I ever got through to be the 4th caller, but I did, answered the question correctly, and won the trip! It included airfare, 1 day at each park, and a stay at the Disneyland hotel for 4 people. I never win anything, so this was a biggie for me! We had so much fun. :jumping1:

I just won the CMT Dolly Parton Sweepstakes for Nov. 25th thru the 27th. She is at the House of Blues on Nov 26th. Got 2 nights lodging, round trip air, dinner at House Of Blues, the concert tickets, autographed cd. Yes in Orlando. :Pinkbounc

What a great thread!

I graduated High School in 2000 and went to Johnson & Wales for College (ok just one year but still..i digress) I was part of a National Student Organization (Phi Beta Lambda) which is for Future Business Leaders. I worked hard all year long for the group as well as keeping my grades up and for every meeting and event you went to, organized, and such you earned points. Well at the end of the year they tallied the points and the Male member and Female member with the most votes got nominated to go to the NSO oscars the school held. Well I won for Best Female Member out of the whole school and as a perk the school was going to pay my way for 6 nights/7 days to WDW for my Organizations national Convention. well i had to turn it down because the day after I got the Oscar I got accepted into the Disney College Program! I was going to be at WDW already and couldn't use the trip!

Well while i was bummed about winning and not being able to use it I was pysched as I got to work for the mouse!

In April 2004, my sister and I were at the world and I wound up in the hot seat at WWTBAMPI. I won the whole thing!!!!!!!!!!! A Disney cruise for 4 people with air. I took my 3 sisters and we expanded to a land/sea because two had never been to WDW before. We had the most wonderful and magical time.

Thirteen of us are going to WDW in April to celebrate my 50th birthday. Looking forward to another magical trip!!!

Hi!

I've been working overtime (at time and a half) for the past month so that we can take a trip down to WDW at the end of January (and treating our 2 daughters and a son-in-law as a Christmas present). It will be our 34th trip to WDW. So far I've logged in 43 hours of overtime this week...and worth every single minute! :cool1:

Last year, my mother won us two nights at a moderate WDW resort. But after we sent in our dates a month in advance, they didn't bother to book us until the week before.. and by then all of the moderates were completely booked, so they moved us to Animal Kingdom Lodge instead!

Very nice prize, indeed.

My ex-fiance and I won an all-expenses-paid trip for four to WDW from a radio call-in contest. A few weeks after we won, we got a letter from WDW saying that we had been bumped up from the All-Star Sports to the Grand Floridian, which was even crazier. For every meal (anywhere we wanted to go), each of us was allowed an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert. I've never eaten so much in my life! It was a great time.... Although in the nine months between winning the trip and actually going, we broke off the engagement, which also made it a very weird time! lol

A few months later, my mother entered a contest at the Disney Store (I'm not sure what the grand prize was), asking what the odds were as she filled out the card. The CM answered that the odds were something like one in eighty billion or so (not an exact quote). My mother said, "That's not bad!" thinking of our radio-won trip. She ended up winning a DVD player and a collection of Disney DVDs. We laughed at it, but years later, it's still going strong!

When I was in second grade my grandparents won the McD monopoly game and 2 weeks at Disneyland, flight and everything included. The funny thing is that we lived in a small town about 4 hours driving from DL so we drove for an hour to the nearest airport (a limo picked us up) and then took about a 15 minute flight. When I look back now it's hilarious. The flight was literally 15 minutes. This was before Cali. Adventure mind you so it was 2 whole weeks at just Disneyland! We ended up going to knotts berry farm too. haha.

I just recently was rewarded a top sales deal and we have a convention in ftlauderdale(not much of a convention just schmoozing) but its 5 days there at the harbor beach marriot(suppose to be a great place) airs paid and they are letting me depart from orlando so after the trip, its southwest air to orlando and disney world for my wife and I for 5 days!!!
