Ever WON a trip to Disney? Or a prize big enough to pay for the trip??

In early February 2003 a local ABC owned radio station was running a Valentine's day promotion. Each morning for 5 days the morning show would give away a Disney Cruise Line prize pack to the the 10th caller, and that person would also be entered into a drawing for a 7 day Disney Cruise aboard the Disney Magic. I was amazed when I called in and was the 10th caller. I couldn't believe it!!! I also figured that I would NEVER be randomly selected from the 5 winners to go on the cruise. Imagine my surprise when my phone rang the next morning and the caller id showed the radio station!

To make a long story short, about 2 months later, my DW, DD7 and I were in Port Canaveral boarding the Disney Magic. It was the best vacation ever, and they almost had to drag us off of the boat on the last day!

By the way, it was planning for that trip when I learned about DISboards, so I was a winner all the way around!

I won two 1 day park hopper passes to WDW in April. It was from a local radio station.

I followed the Alamo link, but am not seeing where you sign up for the contest? Help anyone?

I was the winner of the Jeorge Lopez hidden mickey contest. I won 10K, and a VIP trip to Disneyland for 4.
Wow, I entered this contest too. I'm glad you won it. I still have this show on tape and came across it the other day wondering if anyone won. :goodvibes

Back in 1986, my Mom won our family of 4 a combo trip 3 (or 4 days) in Disney World and 4 (or 3) days on "The Big Red Boat" cruise ship. I had a GREAT time (I was 10). The only problem? Mom was 7.5 months pg with my brother. She ate good...but didn't have as much fun.

My husband won our 2002 trip to Walt Disney World through work. It was my husband's and son's first trip to Disney World! We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge for 8 nights! All exenses paid! Now I am trying to win a trip so we can go back!

My DD5's best friend who lives across the street called a local radio station and entered a contest by telling a joke. She won!

The prize was a 2-day expense paid trip to WDW plus airfare.

She and her mom left this past Friday, 7/1, and returned home today, 7/4.

It was their first trip. They said it was HOT and CROWDED (I told them to expect that) but they had a great time.

We just recently sold my MIL's house (bless her soul, she passed in Jan). We were in attorney review with a contract for $225,000 - a good deal for a bad neighborhood :) - when another contract comes in. $289,000.00 . We were stunned.

After fees, that's an extra $15,000. for all the heirs. So, I asked my DH if we could go to WDW (again) and he said yes. WDW, here we come.

We have friends who's daughter won a car from Disney. Its seems at that time, that disney would give a car to every millionth person thru the gate and they hit the jackpot. Even got their pics with Mickey and Minnie

Wow, these stories are great! Gets me thinking it's possible. DH entered a contest in his Golfing Magazine with Buick where first prize is a trip to WDW for four. Sorry, he's not home now (he's in a golf tournament!) so I don't know the website, or even when it ends.

I won a local Easter bonnet contest by making a completely edible hat out of gingerbread and candy. I was in 3rd grade at the time, but I believe the trip was 5 days for my family-- we stayed at one of the nicer Hyatts in Orlando, but I can't remember the name... it was so exciting because I never win anything like that! :cool1:

I won a trip last year from Visa to Disney, A trip for 8 with hotel of my choice, airfare, and all park hopper tickets PLUS 3 magical wishes and 1200 Disney dollars! We were in the midst of planning a holiday to disney so I almost died!! We took the trip this May, stayed at the GF, one of the wishes was the Spirit of Aloha show , and dinner in the Castle and the third best wish of all was a private meeting with Cinderella, Prince Charming and the Fairy Godmother. The kids loved it, and the Grandparents loved watching the kids!! Only my mom had went last Christmas with my daughter and I so none of the others had been. I have to say it was a great prize!!

Well, it wasn't the big win but I'm going to Orlando now (July 25-30) because I won a 6 days-5 nights hotel stay (off site) :cool1: . Isn't much but make me deside on making my first trip to Orlando sooner than I expected :Pinkbounc .

I won a trip to London for two all expenses paid for a week. I entered a drawing for tickets to the Ice Capades sponsored by the local newspaper and a radio station in the 80's not knowing the grand prize was a trip to London. When I went to claim the prize at the radio station, the room was literally filled half way up the walls with entries. I only sent ONE entry. :rotfl2: I don't know what happened to my luck. I wish I could find it! :confused3

I have a question for all of you that won a "free" trip. How surprised were you when you had to pay income taxes on the prize? Depending on the value of the prize you could end up paying more in taxes than it would cost you if you booked your own trip. I won a contest at a jewelry store years ago. That $2500 ring cost us $800 in taxes. I knew of course we had to pay income taxes and I know they make you sign paperwork for the IRS stating the value so they're expecting you to pay, but still, I'm sure some were not thrilled when they sat down to do their tax returns.

Around 6 years ago I won something called the Big Backyard Barbecue hosted by VH1. My prize was that the B52s played in my backyard for me and a hundred of my friends and relatives it was a nationwide contest and aired nationwide. They also gave me a check for $4,000.

Guess what I did with my check.

Disney anyone. LOL.
