Ever watch resort Xmas decorations being built?

I was watching the Food Network show on Holiday decorations at the WDW resorts. They talked about how things take days to set up, and they showed lots of guests standing around watching and sometimes sampling gingerbread goodies. Like the house at the GF takes days, as does the Boardwalk scene, AKL scene right outside Boma, etc. Anyone ever get to watch any of this take place?

I saw the same show and wondered the same thing. We're going on a surprise trip Dec 19 -24 and I can't wait to taste the gingerbread with chocolate!

We were at BW on Nov. 17 as they were building the fireplace scene - cool to watch. They used gingerbread, icing and some kind of nougat candy that looked like rocks. It was really fun. The manager told us they were bringing the stuff in the night before, so I watched from our balcony as they unloaded all of the greenery - what a job. In the am, the CMs working on the fireplace had been there all night and were less than half finished. They were giving out samples of gingerbread (it kind of had no taste - but still fun). They really are artists at work...

Am I the only one who watched the special and thought it left one big question - what happens to all this when Christmas is over? My DS13 came in and was watching some of it (which I was watching fascinated) and he just rolled his eyes at the extravagance and said "and we wonder why there's hunger in the world" and walked out.

It did make me think some - does it all get wasted afterwards? Is it pretty much inedible by then - either because of some of the methods of attaching everything or because of the number of germs caused by people breathing on and touching it?

I wondered that same thing. My kids wanted to know if guests got to eat it when Christmas was over. I don't think I'd want to. I am looking forward to buying a shingle at GF, just to say that I did.

Yup, I wondered that too. For several years, I went to WDW the first week in January, and I was thinking how much money they could make if they sold off the chocolate pieces. Can you imagine getting a chocolate carousel horse? Boy, I'd be happy, but I'd roll home after the trip from eating so much!
