Has any one ever traveled by Greyhound bus to WDW? I am considering that as an option to driving and the wife does not want to fly. The price really is not that bad compared to other travel options.

If ever traveled by bus, what would be the closest station to WDW? Any ideas of how to get from station to WDW?:confused3

The Orlando Greyhound station is just a few miles from WDW, depending on where you're staying. You would need to rent a car or taxi from the bus station to your hotel/resort.

Where do you live? Is Amtrak an alternative for you? Coach rail fare is usually comparable to bus fare, is much more comfortable, and is often faster due to fewer stops.

We live in Denver Pa. The plan is to drive to Newark NJ, either the night before and stay in a hotel or the mornong of.

There is 5 of us(Me,DW,DD10,DS7andDD). It is $200 cheaper to take the bus from Newark . No transfers either.

It really is a toss up between them.

I would drive before I would take the Greyhound bus. My ex took the bus from our home in NH to visit his Dad in LA. At the time he was in his late 20's. He's 6'4" and, at the time, was in great shape. He swore he'd never do it again! Not only was the trip about 3 x as long as it would have been if he drove because of all the stops, there were a lot of really sketchy people on the bus. Then there was the incident in Canada (one passenger killed and decapitated another one). You just never know whose on the bus with you and what they're carrying.

No offense to anyone - I live in a rural area and am considered lower income and have to save for a long time to go anywhere but camping in the wilderness - but I would not take a bus unless I had no other way of transportation. I was supposed to pick up someone from a Greyhound station a number of years ago and my husband would not let me go alone. I didn't understand why - I travel all over several states by myself for my job - until we arrived at the station. Not the best of places. (And I used to walk past the blood bank every day in downtown Dallas :rotfl:.) I don't think I would want to travel with small children on the bus with hauling all of my luggage to Disney World unless I really had to go that route. If you can manage to travel another way, it might be safer to do so, not so much the actual bus ride as the bus stations.

Just my opinion though for whatever it's worth.

If it was just you and your wife that would be one thing, but I don't know about taking an entire family on a bus.

The seats on the train are more like what you would find in first class on a plane. I would say its worth it.

I live in the city where that happened and I've also taken the bus a couple of times. I really despised taking the bus, a 3 hour drive took about 6 hours and I agree, some of the people you see on the bus are kind of scary. :scared:
