Ever See Anything Unique or "Different" at a Wedding?

I wore sneakers with my wedding gown. My mom made them for me, they were white keds that had rhinestones, lace and beads sewn on. They were beautiful, comfortable and very *me*. :teeth:

I don't know if this is very special or unique but it was to us. For our Christmas themed wedding, our cake layers were made to look like presents with a real ribbon wrapped around each layer and on top of the cake was sitting a G.I. Joe in his BDUs and a dark, curly haired Barbie in a wedding dress thrown over his shoulder. It was very us and everyone seemed to like to the theme.

A bride and groom in our town had DOGS for wedding attendants. Needless to say, they were not married for long. I think one of them won the best man and the other got the maid of honor in a custody battle.

I've seen the Anniversary Dance a few times, and it is very nice. Another cute idea I have seen is that instead of numbers for the tables, they use pictures of places the bride and groom have been together, or the names of things that have been important in their lives . I had a friend and her tables were marked with the names of each of thier hometowns, the names of their high schools and colleges, the name of their first date place, the name of the street where they bought their house etc. I was at another wedding where the bride is a journalist, and therefore travels a lot, and the tables were marked with the names of the places they had been together along with a picture of them at that place (we sat at Moscow!!!!). Another very cute idea IMHO.

For our wedding, we kept all of the response cards (who was coming to the reception). When someone clinked their glass to have us kiss, we picked a response card from a basket, and announced that what ever response card we picked, those two people would also have to kiss! It was really funny when we picked a card that had our three single male friends names on it. They were sports about it, and got up an gave each other a hug!

A co-worker of mine had his daughter's wedding ceremony in a very nice ballroom at a local university - very formal.

Without telling the bride and groom, they passed out "Groucho Marx" -type glasses (the nose, the mustache, the eyebrows) to all the guests.

They were instructed to put on the glasses just before the couple turned around to be introduced - so that they would see everyone looking at them with the glasses - "jiggling" the arm of the glass behind the ear to make it go up and down.

He said the moment was priceless - the couple just lost it! :)

I'm going to a wedding next weekend where the maid of honor is actually a man of honor! He's the best friend of both the bride and groom. They all grew up together. It's a very small wedding and the groom wanted his Dad as his best man. So, they all agreed that the friend could stand up for the bride!

For my wedding, I had too many neices and nephews to put in the wedding. So instead, during the Ave Maria, after we laid our flowers at the feet of the Blessed Mother, all the kids did the same. It was a very sweet.

I wore white flip flops during the reception! :)

My neice is getting married May 05 and all the bridesmaids want to wear white Old Navy flipflops. The groosmen and groom are wearing cowboy hats. Island Country? Very Kenny Chesney.

This same neice was in a wedding recently as a bridesmaid and had sunburn so bad she couldn't wear shoes! She ended up with ballet slippers for the wedding and bare feet after.
