Background.....my coworker "J" was made supervisor for our small store.

Her DD and my son both graduated in the Arts last May. I attended her DD's recital-she is an aspiring Opera singer, threw roses at her and have always been cheering her accomplishments in the 3 years we have worked together. Her DD has been written up in local papers for her great singing.
Her DD is now in graduate school & she told the group about her great grades a few weeks ago we all "huraahed"!!

My DS took "just a job" Last June locally because he wasn't ready to move away. The first of this year he sent out 40 resumes with teasers of his Design portfolio. He just found out that he got an Internship with a design Firm who deals with Fortune 100 companies. Its a wonderful opportunity. And its a pretty far distance away((sigh))

Anyway, this morning I told the "big Boss' I'd have to take some time off next month to move him , with DH. She told me to be sure to tell "J' so she knew about scheduling. We are a very relaxed group-Floral Designers, so I went back and told "J" in the room about taking a few days off because my DS had gotten an Intership & we had to move him.

Everyone else congratulated me & him-they knew what he had acheived in college.

Know the only thing "J" said?

" Why do you have to help him move?"

 :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

What the....
Congrats to your son!

My second wife was a witch... at least that's what she told me.

I had a "witch" with a capital B for a boss. When I got pregnant with DD#1 and told her. She got MAD!!!!:scared1:
Shook her head at me, and then buried it on her desk.:headache:

I guess you can tell how supportive she was when I needed time off with a sick baby......:sad2:

I have had quite a few and even have the "knife wounds" in the back to proove it...

Some people just can't be happy for others and think that anyone else's accomplishments (or their kids) makes their own smaller and so they do everything to belittle those special things in other people.

I had a coworker who never failed to toot her own horn or talk about how wonderful her child was- and it was so pathetic to listen to her- at first you want to be sincere about it and then you just shake your head at them and because you are a better person you offer congratulations but know that it makes no difference...

I used to love it when this same coworker who always told us how great she was starting using the phrase "Don't put the horse before the cart" The first time she said it- I just figured she was excited and got it backwards then she said it again and other people noticed but were too polite to say anything- on my last day at work (thanks to her manipulation) she was on the phone and said it again- and I said, "Where else would you put the horse? Is this some special horse that pushes the cart?" And then I walked out and left.

Sigh- I could write books about witchy bosses- and it seems that some of my later bosses only purpose was to make me appreciate some that I thought were witches were really only mildly annoying

Congrats to your son- what a neat job-

Oh yeah. I had a boss that was a queen witch. She was in everyone's business. Just before I got married she told me she wouldn't recommend having children. (I'm sure her kids would love to hear that.) Just volunteered that to me (and went on and on) as if her recommendation would have any bearing on my/our decision.

Cursed. Wore tight little micro suits (like Heather Locklear on whatever show she was on) --- and this woman was no spring chicken. Yelled. Pranced and postured. If she hadn't been so obnoxious and appalling (and wasn't my boss) it would've been comical.
