I am coming down the week after thanksgiving to the boardwalk and the epcot resorts are sold out (even at rack rate) from the 2nd to the 5th, I have been calling every day to extend our stay so we don't have to move to CBR w. no success.

my question is has anyone extended a stay a few nights upon checking in ? (My hope is maybe when we get down there some rooms will have opened up) also, if you have done it, is there any chance to use a discount code like the AP rate that late?

any insights would be greatly appreciated!

The resorts are not allowed to extend codes, this has to be done through CRO/WDTC.

If they are sold out and you stay on, you'll be displacing someone else who is supposed to be checking in--the hotel can't however kick you out under FL law, but they can charge you rack rate. IMHO moreover, I would feel much too guilty displacing another family to do this.

I very, very higly doubt if the BW will open, that's a very popular week with DVC members, and the annual meeting usually happens that week.

Last June we extended our stay by two nights. We were at the Poly and called the Dolphin direct on Tuesday afternoon and recieved the $149 rate for Thursday and Friday that week to make our stay at WDW 7 nights instead of 5. Are you only wanting the BW? I'm pretty sure you won't be able to get a code room unless there is a last minute cancelation, but there is always that chance. You will have to book through CRO to use a code but you can call the Swan or Dolphin direct and see what the front desk has available. We enjoyed the dolphin. Being in the epcot area was very nice.

I hope you have a great trip.

When we used to drive to WDW, I would spend the entire trip from NY campaigning to add another night onto our ressies!

My husband always agreed by the time we hit the Florida line. Having booked with a code, the front desk would just extend our stay by one night. I never had to call CRO for this at all. We always book using a code, and the resort just gavb us another night at the same rate.

Since your trip appears to be during a busy time, I would definitely secure/keep a ressie for that night, but keep calling everyday! I can't imagine that WDW really books every single room in the resort without leaving a few open for situations that arise.

Good Luck...

I did this twice recently.

We had to stay at WDW during ourr move to Florida-our town did not have power yet.

I booked one night with an e-mail code and called check out morning when we discovered we would have to stay longer and was able to add on more nights at the code price.

Then, with Hurrican Jeanne, we made our way over to WDW and I called CRO from the Pop Century lobby. Their computers were down and they told me to call back in 2 hours.

I took a chance and went up to the front desk and they said they had plenty of rooms. I explained I was going to book one through CRO using my code. They offered the same price right there without having to go through CRO BUT...I believe they were making exceptions due to the hurricane and they knew I was a Florida resident. They did have to go in back and speak to a manager. I was grateful either way.

I don't believe it is common for a front desk to extend a stay at the beginning or the end using a code. Sometimes you luck out but not often.

It's usually not too much hassle just to call CRO from the lobby or your room in regards to extending the stay.

Sorry if I wasnt clear. I am booked w. the AP code for boardwalk inn from the 11/29 to 12/2. I want to continue to stay at the BW (or BC or YC) to the 5th but can't get in anywhere, even at rack, for those days. if I can't do it, we're going to move to the CBR, so I don't think I am taking someone's place in line, as I would give upb the CBR ressie if I get what I want somewhere.

one last question-why would the DVC annual mtg effect boardwalk inn? (I can understand the villas)

Sorry, I thought you meant the BWV.

If you stay on, you will be taking someone's room. If they ahve no availability at the BWI/YC/BC and you decide to stay, even at rack rate, then whowever had that room reserved for that night will get there, and won't have a room to check in to.

Now I don't know about you, but if I was booked at the BWI and got there and was told, sorry, someone didn't leave the room we had reserved for you, so we have to move you to the CBR I'd be none to pleased.

In your case, you already know that you'll probably end up there, and can make plans for it. See what I mean? :)

When we stayed at the boardwalk on our 2nd day we decided to extend the reservation for an extra night. we got the same rate as the original ressie, the only problem was that they had to give us another room because they were installing refrigerators...

give it a shot when youre in the resort, they might just give it to you.

ducklite,

sorry, but I don't see your point. I wanted a epcot hotel for 6 nights (12/1-6) so far I have a ressie for the first three nights-how am I screwing someone if I ask if I can stay for an additional three nights? they aren't going to give it to me unless there is space. as I see it, one of two things will happen: 1) there is no space for my desired add on time and I go to CBR, where I have a ressie already, or 2) there is space, and I fill it. if that's the case-how am I taking someone's spot?

I think you missed part of what I said in an earlier post.

If you get there with a reservation for three days.
And don't check out on the day you are supposed to.
FL law says they can't kick you out.
They can charge you rack rate.
But they can not kick you out.
So if you stay under these circumstances.
Without a resevation, just refuse to leave.
Someone with a reservation at that resort will then not have a room left for them when they come to check in.

See? :)

We added on an extra night at AKL in May this year. Upon check-in I asked if I could add on another night as we had (like someone else) added it on during the drive down. Anyway, the CM went to the computer and conferred with the manager and not only was there room to stay but I got the same rate (AP disc pool view) and upgrade to savannah.

I think it will all depend on whether they have room or not. If they are saying they are full then I'd go ahead and plan that they are. In May I was trying to get a CR tower room and they were all sold out... I tried with AP, w/o AP and everytime there was nothing available.
