I have spoken to 3 CMs tonight regarding a PIN we received. Two of them are telling me that the room that shows up on my reservation, is different than the room type I have on my reservation email. The third CM, sees the same thing I do. So my question is this, has anyone ever gone to their resort, and found out that the room type you reserved is not actually available? If so, what have you done?
I currently have a Riverview preferred room at POR. However 2 CMs told me that I have a wheelchair accessible standard room. My email reservation says Riverview, nothing more. I mentioned to the 2 CMS that we don't need that type of room, but they are saying it's the only one available. If I get there and don't end up with a Riverview, what do I do? Any suggestions?
I made these reservations back in September of 2011, so I would hope that my advanced call would have secured my room type, but now I'm not so sure. I don't really feel right taking up a wheelchair accessible room when I don't need it. TIA

Hmm, strange. Have you tried checking your reservation online to see what the room type says? By checking online I mean - going to WDW website and manually putting in your reservation number.

I tried to look up our reservation, but each time I try to get the details, it tells me, "Session timed out." I'll have to try again tomorrow I guess. We are checking in on October 9th.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I don't know if it's the same thing you are talking about, but we once booked a preferred room at Pop, but received a standard when we arrived. The CM was not even going to tell me about the downgrade either. If I hadn't known where the preferred rooms were, I wouldn't have known. When I mentioned it, he acted like it wasn't a big deal, just made the comment, 'Oh yeah, I see you did book a preferred room. Oh well, they overbook those rooms all the time. We had to move you to a standard'. He then just continued checking us in like it wasn't a big deal. I argued for the preferred room I paid for and when it was obvious I wasn't going to get it, asked about the price difference being refunded to my cc. He acted all put out, informed me it would take manager to do that and all the managers were busy, and did I really want to wait that long, for such a small price difference, especially with all these people waiting behind me.:rolleyes1 Duh! Yeah, if you can't give the room type I paid for, I want at least the price difference back. That was the last time I stayed at Pop. (Not just for that reason, but we had a few other problems that stay--nothing big, just alot of little things that kept adding up).

Be sure to make a printout of your reservation and bring it with you. On one of our many trips, we were told that POR was overbooked and that we would be sent to a standard room at another resort. The POR clerk insisted we had reserved a standard room, but, fortunately, I had the printout to prove that we had paid for a water view. We then received a beautiful river view room at POFQ.

Yes, a similar thing happened to us just recently. We were booked at a dvc resort for a regular room with a particular view/room category that I paid for. About two weeks before check-in I called to make a payment on my reservation. Later when I checked the reservation online, I noticed our room type had been changed to a 1- bedroom villa, wheelchair accessible. As I didn't want the view/ location of the villa and there was just 2 of us traveling, I called to inquire. They were able to put me back in the room type that I booked and paid for. I think the hotel was likely full and room assigners were juggling the rooms around. I had to consider it hard before I switched back to my regular room i booked but really, we wanted a particular location vs room size.

Thanks to all who have responded. I do always take a print out along, so I will be sure to do that again this time. I guess this happens more often than I realized. My biggest concern now is that I'm reading that the Wheelchair accessible rooms at POR, since the referb, do not have the murphy bed, as there is a large wardrobe in it's place. If I get there and I have no trundle there will be a problem. I called and asked and the CM said, "Well maybe they just thought the 5 year old would sleep in the queen bed with someone." What?! If I could do that, I would have booked at a different resort! (and I know full well Disney won't allow that) However, I have 5 in my party, so I booked at POR, for the murphy bed option! Off to call and speak to someone else.:confused3
