Ever, Ever After: The TR Formerly Known as Wishing You Were Here- May 2011

Glad to see you got out the door successfully!

One thing I don't like about Pop is the food court, I feel like it is always crowded no matter what time of day. I can imagine that it is even harder with a stroller.

I can only imagine how expensive gift shop sunscreen is :scared1: but I'm glad you got the boys all ready for a fun day in the sun!

I can't wait to hear what you did first!

:lovestrucCarter is just too adorable asking to go to work with Daddy. Such a sweet little boy.

Just wondering... Carter seems to be at a great age for Disney and really taking everything in. Do you think Landon seemed to enjoy it? I have told DH that with our next kid we are going to take that kid around the same age as Landon. Just curious what you think.

Can't wait to see more.

Animal Kingdom really does seem like a great choice when you're alone with the boys. For what it is, you won't really be facing anything more than you would taking them out during the day at home. I think you're going to have a wonderful day! :thumbsup2

Wonderful start to your day already, except for having to pay captive prices for something they are making about 2,000 % profit on. I hate that!

I think you chose a perfect park for touring alone with the boys. Plenty to see, and I am going to guess you ended up at the Boneyard in a bit...

What a great start to your first day at a park (well, besides the high cost of the sunscreen for the little guys). I love walking through the Oasis and observing the animals. Can't wait to see what rides you and the boys hit up.

Ugh, the food courts are such a madhouse in the morning!

Looks like you had a great day at AK ahead of you! Can't wait to see what you did!

aww. the boys are still asking for their daddy. that is sweet. My devyn is like carter being the 1st one up. He gets out his toddler bed and wakes me every morning for something to drink.

Oh- the idea of not really having anyone to answer to is intriguing. Can't wait to hear what you did!

Great start to your day at AK! Last year I had to buy sunscreen at the resort because I didn't account for so many days by the pool so we ran out! It's definitely pricey!

Can't wait to hear what you have planned for your day!

Ok I'm really behind, but I think I've caught up! Going back a bit...

Good job with the bed rails and getting the room set up while the boys were exploring the room! :thumbsup2

Great pictures of the views from the resort! Carter is too cute with his foot up in the air! :rotfl:

:worship: GOOD JOB handling the kids and food!! I can barely handle the tray!! The boys are so cute with their tie-dye cheesecake on their face!

I'm glad the boys were able to play a bit that day! Too cute about Carter and his "big guy"! :rotfl: My brother used to eat little pebbles when he was Landon's age, so I got a big kick out of Landon eating the mulch!

How sweet Carter is still worried about his Dad! :cutie:

I hope you guys had a great day at AK! :goodvibes

I am the owner of a Pre-school, and little kids for sure say the darnedest things

I can only imagine the things you'd hear with a whole room full of two-year-olds. :rotfl:

haha! me too!
my trip was great! i learned quite a few things as well

I'm glad you all had a good time. I think I learn more and more each Disney trip I take with my boys. :thumbsup2

I can't wait to see what you did in Animal Kingdom with the boys. That's was so sweet of Carter still just wanting to be with his Daddy. I'm sure that tugged on your heartstrings. And I absolutely love your term "money hero". :lmao: I guess I need to go let Ed know that he's me & Reid's money hero!

I had so many ideas of what would be fun to do, that there was no way we could have done it all. We did come close, though. It was really sweet of Carter to want to be with his Daddy, but it was really sad, too. Money heroes keep us all in Disney trips. :rotfl:

It looks like you did pretty well getting the boys ready and into Animal Kingdom. I wouldn't worry too much about holding up the line at the drink stations. I'm sure they aren't too concerned when they're holding others up while they fill a few mugs. :lmao: Sorry about the sunscreen. I'd hate to guess what the mark up is on it in the parks.

I like the strap thing that is on Carter's cup in the picture of the boys in the stroller. Is that something to attach them to the stroller, or to the boys? I've never seen anything like that before, but it looks like a fantastic idea.

I didn't forget anything that couldn't be bought, so that's good. I wasn't too concerned with holding up the line. People really shouldn't expect the person with the double stroller to be the fastest drink refill-er. I can't remember how much the sunscreen cost now. Apparently, it was too traumatic to remember.

That is a SippiGrip. I bought two from Amazon and they are great. When Carter was fifteen months, we took him to Disney without a SippiGrip and had to pick up his cup a thousand times, sometimes through accidental dropping, but also due to intentional dropping. The SippiGrip attaches to the stroller and the boys can throw their cups overboard as often as they like. :teeth:

At least the forgetfulness was just minor things, so it didn't really slow you down :thumbsup2 Sounds like a great start to your AK morning, I love that initial rush when you get to a park at Disney :goodvibes

That's true, I didn't forget anything essential, like Landon. :lmao: It wasn't too hard to buy breakfast and sunscreen. There's nothing like first getting to a park.

Hi there! I recently stumbled on this website as I am planning our first family trip to Disney with our 3 yr old twin boys and I just love your report. Firstly because one of my boys is also named Carter (so yeah great name!) and also because I just love your positive attitude! I take my boys all over by myself (not quite sure about Disney but then again haven't been there with them at all!) But it's good to hear about people being so independent! (as togh as it may be!) look forward to reading more!!!

We had to buy that overpriced baby sunscreen when we were there in February, too. Well, DH had to buy it because the morning DSIL and I were running he forgot the sunscreen in the room...maybe it has something to do with trying to get a kid or kids out to a park by yourself! I was just impressed he remembered that Colby needed sunscreen on at all!

Looking forward to seeing what you decide you should do!

It's always a little touch and go getting that double stroller out of the door by myself, but we managed. :rotfl:

The Pop food court did kind of feel crowded most of the time, especially in the mornings. That's one nice thing about the All Stars- they may share buses, but they each have their own food court.

I was prepared to overpay, but they still managed to surprised me. Oh, well. If the boys had gotten sunburned, it would have been pretty awful.

:lovestrucCarter is just too adorable asking to go to work with Daddy. Such a sweet little boy.

I thought that was really cute, Carter wanting to go to work. I guess he figured if Daddy couldn't come to him, he'd go see his Daddy. Carter really is a sweet kid.

Well...I think that Landon's age is a great time to go. He liked all of the rides and overall, I do think he had fun. He would have had more fun if he could walk, or if he had been little enough still that he wasn't bothered by not walking. Landon kind of had a rough trip, as you'll see, but I don't think much of it had to do with his age.

Animal Kingdom really does seem like a great choice when you're alone with the boys. For what it is, you won't really be facing anything more than you would taking them out during the day at home. I think you're going to have a wonderful day! :thumbsup2

I always have a lot of fun at Animal Kingdom and there is so many things that seem easy to do when it's just me and the boys. In fact, I think it was easier than a day at home with them. I thought we were going to have a wonderful day, too. :)

Your morning sounded hectic, but at least you made it AK with a great parking spot. Can't wait to see how you and the boys spent the morning.

I think you chose a perfect park for touring alone with the boys. Plenty to see, and I am going to guess you ended up at the Boneyard in a bit...

I think the worst part of the whole sunscreen thing was the fact that I had just bought some the day before at Walmart. Oh well. I guess the 2,000% markup was with it to not have to go back to the room.

I thought Animal Kingdom would be the best choice, since there's so much to do there. As for ending up at the Boneyard, that would be an excellent guess. :goodvibes

What a great start to your first day at a park (well, besides the high cost of the sunscreen for the little guys). I love walking through the Oasis and observing the animals. Can't wait to see what rides you and the boys hit up.

We had the best time, starting off our day in the Oasis. Carter and Landon have actually never been sunburned and I didn't think it would be a good day to risk it. The boys love going on rides, so we were definitely going on some. :thumbsup2

Ugh, the food courts are such a madhouse in the morning!

Looks like you had a great day at AK ahead of you! Can't wait to see what you did!

They sure are busy in the mornings. I think the refillable mugs exacerbate the situation.

I love having a full day of AK ahead of me. There's always so many great possibilities.

aww. the boys are still asking for their daddy. that is sweet. My devyn is like carter being the 1st one up. He gets out his toddler bed and wakes me every morning for something to drink.

It was really sweet how Carter missed his Daddy. Carter likes everyone to be together. My boys both want a drink as soon as they wake up, too. We recently got a mini fridge and Landon has been opening it and getting his sippy cup out, having a drink, and putting it back. It's so funny to see him acting so grown up.

Oh- the idea of not really having anyone to answer to is intriguing. Can't wait to hear what you did!

It was kind of fun to be able to do whatever I wanted, as long as Carter and Landon could tolerate it. Of course, Jeremy usually wants to do the same things as me anyway, so I don't know if it really made much difference.

Great start to your day at AK! Last year I had to buy sunscreen at the resort because I didn't account for so many days by the pool so we ran out! It's definitely pricey!

Can't wait to hear what you have planned for your day!

I was happy that we had made it to a park. We could have hung out at Pop Century the whole time. I hated having to buy sunscreen in the park, but at least once I had bought it, there was no chance of running out later in the week. In fact, I probably still have enough sunscreen to last on our next trip, too. :rotfl:

Ok I'm really behind, but I think I've caught up! Going back a bit...

Good job with the bed rails and getting the room set up while the boys were exploring the room! :thumbsup2

Glad you found time to catch up! I'm behind on most of the TRs I follow right now.

The boys always enjoy a new hotel room to explore, so it gave me a good chance to get the bed rails set up. Next time, I'll be a bed rails expert.

I thought the view at Pop Century was extraordinary, considering it's a value resort. Thanks, Carter was taking it easy with his foot up. :rotfl:

I was pleasantly surprised at how easily I got our food and the boys to the table. It really wasn't that hard. I think the stroller made it easier. Thanks, I thought the boys looked cute with tie dye cheesecake on their faces, too.

I was glad the boys were able to play some that night. I think it helped them go to sleep better than if they had been cooped up all day. I could see Landon eating little pebbles, too. He'll try anything. :rolleyes1

Carter's a sweet kid. I felt sorry for him, since he was so upset about it.

Thanks, we had a great day at AK! :)

I was thinking of you yesterday!!! I had my boys (Sophie was at a bday party) at the zoo yesterday by myself. The two of them area as self sufficient as a 3 and 5 year old can be, but it was still hard! We went into one of the food courts that was packed (no strollers allowed). I took one look at the lines and started a silent panic attack (I didn't want to appear nutty! :rotfl2:). I found two pre packed boxed lunches for the boys (pb&j, juice, pretzels, cheese), grabbed a personal pizza and a diet coke bottle for myself, paid, and got out of there! The thought of waiting in a line to order, then waiting to get the food, then waiting to pay would have put me over the edge! I am so happy to have scott with me next week (woohoo!!! Next week!!!). He will definitely be my food runner (with Sophie as a helper, I'm sure). Lots of bowing down to you for maneuvering 2 boys at WDW! As I read the first part of your report, I kept thinking about how much fun it would be, until I experienced a small taste yesterday. I'm sure it was still super fun (the rest of my zoo day was fabulous), but the eating alone is HARD!!!:worship::worship::worship:

Hi! I'm glad you found my report. I always thought twins would be really fun. I bet your boys will have a great time on their trip. Carter is a great name, isn't it? :goodvibes I actually find my boys to be pretty easy to take care of at Disney. There's so many fun things for them to do that they don't get bored and become difficult.

We had to buy that overpriced baby sunscreen when we were there in February, too. That's interesting. Maybe it is something to do with getting kids ready alone. I bet if Jeremy had been with me, one of us would have remembered. I suppose I should be impressed that I remembered their sunscreen at all, but I'm glad I did get some for them. It would have been sad if they had been burned.

Your morning sounded hectic, but at least you made it AK with a great parking spot. Can't wait to see how you and the boys spent the morning.

It was a little hectic, but most of our mornings are, so we're used to that. I was really happy to get a good parking spot at AK. It sort of seemed like an auspicious start to the day.

I was thinking of you yesterday!!! I had my boys (Sophie was at a bday party) at the zoo yesterday by myself. The two of them area as self sufficient as a 3 and 5 year old can be, but it was still hard! We went into one of the food courts that was packed (no strollers allowed). That sounds fun, taking the boys to the zoo. I think waiting in a long line without a stroller would be really hard. Good thinking finding the pre-packed lunches. :thumbsup2

It is so much easier to have a food runner, and you'll have two next week, so that'll be nice. I agree, eating alone with two little boys can be tricky, but overall it was still a lot of fun. I need to take my guys to the zoo soon. I bet they'd love it.
