We are going in not expecting to get special treatment at the resort or restaurants, maybe some congrats, but that is all. Of course other free things are nice!
Has anyone wore their bride/groom ears or pins all week and got nothing (besides congrats) out of it?
Just curious!!

I would be one of those people! We got engaged, married, and honeymooned at Disney and got lots of congrats, but that was it! Not that we were expecting anything...But it was still amazing anyway! :)

I don't think it makes any sense to go to disney and expect anything for free. If you want special additional touches to enhance your experience while you are there you should plan them. If you want something in your room order a gift basket, flowers or if your staying in a deluxe order something from room service. If you are hoping for a special cake or dessert with your dinner or lunch plan ahead and order it. Want a champagne toast buy a bottle. I think the staff will make every effort to make any event special but I don't think you should expect anything for free. I think if you expect something and it doesn't happen you may be disappointed and I don't think there is any reason to set yourself up for that especially not on your honeymoon. There are a ton of things you can do to make your disneyhoneymoon romantic and special and most will cost little if that to do. If you search the boards and ask advice for something specific you will get an answer. I do encourage you, if its within your budget to add on something fun like a fireworks cruise you could bring champagne or a horse carriage ride. Walk on the beach at the poly after dinner and then watch the fireworks together, go on the hot air balloon in downtown disney, I think the list is limitless.

The greetings and smiles from the buttons or ears or t shirts really were the thing. I can't say we "got" anything. We went on a cruise and couldn't get ourselves into palo!:rotfl: it was great!

It concerns me when people bring this up because I just wonder what are prople "expecting" and are they seriously actually dissapointment at the end of the day if they dont "get something"? I mean not that people can't ask or discuss, it just makes me wonder? Just my 0.02

I don't think any of us were or are expecting anything. I hope not anyway! Just curious to hear others' experiences. I've read a lot of TR's and comments on the boards where people HAVE gotten things like free drinks, desserts, etc from wearing ears/buttons. It makes me happy to read about someone getting a little pixie dust during such a special time. But, I personally never expected anything or wanted anything. I just wanted to wear my ears! The congratulations were more than enough for DH and I. It was so fun. But, maybe after reading about all the folks that did get extra pixie dust, some people come to expect that it will happen for them too? :confused3 Like I said before, we had an amazing time during our engagemnent/wedding/honeymoon, and that was enough for me! :thumbsup2

We only wore ours 1 day in the MK and nothing beyond congrats happened. I wasn't wearing the bridal ears though, I wore a tiara and H wore a mickey tophat. We wore the happily ever after pins. We ended up taking them off because we felt weird, like we were fishing for special treatment or something.

We also went expecting nothing. We received a voicemail from Mickey and Minnie on our phone when we checked into our resort. We wore the bride and groom ears one day to the Magic Kingdom, and were showered with congratulations and delightful conversations with friendly CMs. We only wore the ears one day, it was kind of overwhelming for we are a very shy couple.

I still thought our honeymoon was magical, and wouldn't have spent it anywhere else. The CMs did seem to involve us in a fun way, the JAMMitors joked about hitting us up for tips since we "had all that wedding money," the ToT CM offered us their honeymoon suite... I truly feel Disney strives to give everyone (not just honeymooners) special treatment, which is why we enjoyed our honeymoon so much.

I certainly am not expecting anything free, just curious to hear responses! I'm sure I won't even remember that some people receive this pixie dust because we will be having too much fun!
Like lots of people say, if I really wanted a special touch, I could order it myself!

Nothing other than congrats, which is all that was expected. I think a lot of people are milking the celebration buttons and get mad when they don't get free things or special treatment, which is ridiculous!

Although the waitress at Ohana thought it was cool that we had gotten married at the Weddig pavilion. Still very magical :)

All we got were congratulations. I did put it on all of our ADRs and we wore our buttons and I wore the bride ears almost everyday. And really the only restaurant that even said anything to us was V&A. You really get such great service and extras there.
We did get a "Magical Moments" Certificate from a CM in the American Pavilion. (Fun fact: the same CM gave us a certificate in 2010 when he saw our "Just Engaged" buttons :rotfl:)
Same thing in 2010 when it was my then DBFs birthday, then we got engaged that trip and wore our "Just Engaged" buttons.

DCL however went above and beyond. We got married during the cruise but not even through Disney. We did it on our own in St Thomas. We got congratulations notes from everyone we told! A beautiful Cinderella lithograph and two "Just Married" buttons in the room the night we got married and brought us the celebration dessert in the dining room and made us a special plate in Palo.

I have to brag :)

At Christmas time I went to WDW with my best friend who is a gay man with a heart of gold. We were eating at the Biergarten. One of the couples at the table with us was a YOUNG Newlywed couple. They really knew so little about WDW it was amazing. We gave them advice. Told them they had to get to DHS for the Osborne lights - lots of info. At the end of the meal when the waitress brought the bills over, she explained to the couple that their bill had been paid by my friend. The bride teared up, as did I. I really was never so proud of anyone in my life.

Not expecting anything the day of our Disneyland Moon because it really all depends on the Cast Member if anything does happen. You'll def get a lot of congrats though!

When we got engaged last July, we got tons of "congrats," the cast member at Peevys gave us each a raspberry lemonade slush and at California Grill we got chocolate cake with "Congrats!" on it. I loved the guy at Peevys the most because I wasn't even paying attention but he said "Since I'm not going to the wedding, here's a token of my appreciation." HAHHAA I wanted to invite him too but didn't see him the next day.

That is SO sweet!! The best part, is you know he probably made their trip!

We did the Land & Sea Package for our Disneymoon. One of the nights on the cruise they gave us a cake that said Congratulations. We also got a cupcake and some Mickey glitter in the shape of a heart at Crystal Palace on our land portion of the "moon".

I stopped wearing the ears with the veil after the first day at WDW cause, although it was extremely nice, I got tired of saying thank you to all the Congratulations we were hearing.

We got lots of congrats, free desserts, and one day when we were leaving DHS a CM pulled us to the side and brought us to a secret spot set up for a private photoshoot with donald, daisy, mickey and minnie...we had a good 10 minute photoshoot where they took pictures with our camera and had us pose..so much fun! We did wear our Just Married pins all week. It was just special when someone went out of their way to say congrats! Go in expecting nothing so that you are pleasantly surprised if it does.

we wore our "just engaged" buttons for 2 days after we got engaged, we received a congrats card signed by the staff and characters at the Crystal Palace....we received two free glasses of champagne at (I think) The Wave restaurant and a free dessert at (I think) San Angel restaurant

way more than we expected

We just had our DFTW wedding here this weekend and have been treated like GOLD so far on our honeymoon. We got an upgraded room, our own private bus, congratulatory dessert, fast passes for the park from a CM, on and on. This has been the most special week of my life, I didn't even know any of this was possible!!

These were delivered to our room at the BoardWalk Inn on our last night there.

You must have been very excited - I would have been, but as they say, simple things amuse simple minds.

Note the similarity to my avatar - the same except for the Christmas theme.
