Evening attire for current weather

Hello! We are heading down for the weekend, and have never, ever gone in the winter months! It looks like mid 60's/low 70's during the day, but I am not sure what to wear at night. We have 2 signature dining adr's and 1 at Epcot. Lows in the high 40's/low 50's. I am used to wearing a sundress and sandals but that's not going to fly! Ladies, what are you wearing at night in the World? Will I really need winter gear?

I suggest wearing layers!! We are also headed down this coming weekend. Perhaps a pair of slacks with a jacket or sweater.... enjoy!

Layers it is! Any other suggestions I'm all ears! I am used to flip flops so I need to find some comfy shoes, I typically wear heels.

When I lived in Florida (wahhhh)...

layers is the way to go. Those chilly temps can catch you off guard and make you cry for mercy sometimes, especially if there is a breeze.

I usually dressed for "fall" if that makes sense.

A mutli-purpose light weight jacket (not a winter coat) would be a great idea.

The wind off the wind off the water at Epcot will be chilly if it occurs.
Daytime temps will feel warm until that sun goes down.

I would not do the park in flip flops b/c it will get down right chilly and you will regret it when the sun goes down. I usually wear an enclosed shoe this time of year, but not a sneaker as I don't like sneakers.I had a pair of slip on Murrells (I think that was the brand) that I wore quite a bit.

My blood may have thickened though as 40s/50s sounds heavenly right now compared to our expected snow tomorrow.

I will never go to Florida again in the winter without a WINTER jacket. 40° with a breeze at night (no sun) is COLD. Even layers don't cut it for me, I need warm. Last February I was cold even WITH my winter jacket. I was darn glad to have WINTER gear at night this December also. Night parades, shows and fireworks are just not as much fun when you are COLD.

Two of our dinners are at resorts, so with the exception of the boat from WL we should be indoors- those nights I am packing a nicer outfit and worrying less about staying warm (signature dining). The other night when we are in epcot, I am going to wear jeans, flat shoes, and layer up including a possible puffer vest if needed- is that overkill? I plan to wear it to the airport on the way down (yes, we are getting snow here too tomorrow) so it won't take up any space in my luggage.

I agree! We northern folks aren't used to the humid weather, and 40 in Florida is DAMP! It feels far worse than zero does here at home! In December I wore layers and a leather jacket at night, and I was still cold!

We were at the world the week before this past Christmas and the weather was similar to what you are describing for this weekend. To me it felt cold. This was the first time I was ever at Disney where I needed to wear pants, a sweater, a jacket and a scarf! As other have suggested, I would definitely do layers. We were in Epcot most evenings and I was glad to be a bit bundled up! Have a great trip!

Most days have been below normal temps, anywhere from a few degrees to 15 or 20 degress below normal. The few days that have been above normal have only been above by a few degrees. It hasn't hit 80 while I've been here. But so far, January 2011 hasn't been nearly as cold as January 2010.

I'm a northerner, but an inveterate Florida weather-watcher. Starting this weekend, the cold siege looks like it will be over! Saturday will be a little cool, but not cold, and not windy (that's what really kills you during chilly weather at Disney!!!). Sunday will be low 70s by day and mid 50s by night. After that, it will be mid-to-upper 70s by day and upper 50's by night.

The best part: DW and I will be there Monday through Friday This will be payback for two consecutive COLD trips in February '09 and '10.

I sure wish we could be there too! We made reservations 11 months out for a 2bdr LV at BLT for this extended MLK weekend, but the weather in Atlanta has thrown us a curveball. We had to cancel our plans yesterday because DD and hubby can no longer join us. They are both iced in with their offices closed for three days and will now have to work through the weekend. =(

We've been to WDW many times over MLK and the weather is always unpredictable. You can leave home thinking it will be warm and a cold front will sweep in unexpectedly and quickly... or you can leave thinking it will be cold and then the front clears out quicker than expected so that you are stuck sweating to death! We now come prepared with layers for any temperature and also for rain. If you are unfortunate enough to be caught down there when a sudden frontal movement does occur, you'll know why the rain gear is a great idea!

I hope you guys have a fabulous time! Have a little extra fun for this pouting Louisianian who is going to miss her MLK Disney fix!

Do not forget your gloves!! We were there over Christmas and while we had a few really nice days in the beginning of our trip on the 20th, we had many days that it was only in the 50's for the high and at night it got downright CHILLY!! And on those boats between resorts you freeze unless you have on your winter coat b/c of the frigid breeze blowing in!
