Welcome to my TR, I am so glad you are here. If you have come over from my PTR, I have to say I am so sorry for taking so long to post my TR. I suffered from what many call it post disney blues. Shame on me for not having pics of our great departure but as you read you'll understand why. The original plan was for me to leave work by noon, drop dog off, pay some bills, get everything packed up and ready, get kids from school, load up van and get hubby from work and hit the road y 6pm, . . and. . .that didn't happen. I was succesful at dropping the dog off, paying bills and that's it. I picked hubby up from work at 5, went home and packed and got everything ready. Keep in mind if you read my PTR our kids had no idea we were going. However we do have smart kids and after about 2 hours of them watching us run around like crazy they figured it out and were exstatic. So we got the van packed and hit the road at 8pm, still having to hit the grocery store. Long story shorter, we got on US 131 southbound at 9:30pm,. already 3.5 hours behind. But we were all happy, kids were in jammies and content. The best part is that roads were clear with no snow or rain in the forcast for the drive  We are finally on our way :yay:

Dan and i had agreed upon me driving first and then switching off after he slept for a while. We are crazy people, gonna make the drive from Michigan to FLorida nonstop. Can we do it???? Read on to find out.

The drive was rather uneventful. I drove from 9:30pm until about 1:00am (under the influance of a few monster energy drinks, that I swore I would never ever drink) when we had to make our first potty stop, and switch off. Then Dan took over so I could sleep. I do not sleep in vehicles, it just doesn't happen, but somehow a dramamine, eye mask and 4 hours later I awoke to being in southern Kentucky and feeling rather refreshed. Somehow I had slept right through the mountains. :confused3

Next up Day Two driving

Wow l'm first l haven't been first before!!:cool1: I have two boys almost 9 and 5.Looking forward to reading more and getting some hints.:thumbsup2

So I left off feeling quite refreshed after a good solid 4 hours of sleep. I am still amazed that I was able to sleep that well and that long in the van. So I took over driving, and it's just before 5am. So far the drive has been without a hitch, perfect dry roads, no backups, no jams, it's been great. Then as we enter Nashville we hit ice, and it was BAD!!!! Keep in mind I live in Michigan, so I know snow and ice, and I drive it all winter long, but this was BAD, there was at least 20+accidents in a 3 mile stretch. The road was completely covered in ice, you couldn't see the exits if you wanted to try to get off. My wonderful hubby says "I sure am glad you're driving and not me" gee thanks, love you too. Well after 1.5 hours we finally got out of that mess and it was clear. The kids by this point are starving and so ready to get out of the van. We somehow convinced them to hang on until we cross into GA. So we finally stopped at an IHOP just into GA at about7:30am. In we walk complete in our jammies, we were a sight to see.

We hung out for quite some time at the restuarant, it felt good to be out, I even let my kids be "those kids" and run around the restuarant. They weren't busy at all so I am quite sure they weren't bothering anyone. But we had some more driving to get done, so the fun had to come to an end and we piled back into our van to continue our drive. This leg of the drive was quite tiring, we were so over being in the van and driving, but it was relatively uneventful, we stopped a few times to potty, and then continued on our not so merry way.

Here are a few pics of some stops, as you can see still in jammie attire, and a few of the kids in the van.

We finally arrived in Orlando at about 6pm, we had been on a hunt for a Target or something, we forgot our backpack, and lucky us the exit we needed for our hotel we came upon this

I was so excited I have never seen a super target before. So we hit that got a backpack and a few t-shirts for everyone with the disney theme and on our way we went. Our "resort" if that's what you want to call it was only 10 minutes away. To be continued for our exciting night at "The Palms Resort & Villas"

Glad to hear the drive was mostly uneventful. How did the kids do in the car that long? We've apparently lost our minds because we're planning to make the drive in August!

Great start to your TR. I can't sleep in the car no matter how tired I am. When we get to Florida after the 24 hour drive we are all done with the car.:)

I just realized that you have finally started. :cool1::cool1::cool1:

I know that once I come back the Disney blues are going to hit hard. I know for sure we won't have another trip for awhile.

I can't wait to hear all about your trip.

Youre title has me sucked in!! Can't wait for more!!

Super Target has twice as much crack air piped in I'm sure of it... LOVE the Tar-jay!

Can't wait to read more about your trip!

Your trip down sounds scary! I'm from So Cal. and never have to drive on ice. Sooo scary!

Can't wait to read more.

The ice would of freaked me out. On Christmas eve day we drove up to the Grand Canyon, we were visiting our dd in Phoenix, and the previous evening Flagstaff got 2 ft of snow. We knew how to drive in the snow because we are from WI. we could not believe all the flipped over cars in the ditches.

I saw the Palms resort last week, did you like the resort?

Another Michigander here!! What did you think about the snow today?? ugh I had to drive in it the whole time. Then boom it just stopped!
Can't wait to hear more about your trip!
