Even the Flowers are Real! - An April 2026 Spring Break Trip Report

remember you posting about this!!! 4 hours...UGH!!! I'm so glad you didn't end up getting canceled altogether, but how awful to not get to bed til 3 a.m. and then still have to work the next da
It was rough for sure. At one point Morgan wanted to just go home. And you feel helpless! In those instances, there is nothing you can do.

Thank goodness for “alert juice” aka coffee!
SERIOUSLY!!!

Definitely a rough travel day. We had to wait on the plane back in August before they finally just had us all get off. I can see why people lose it when they are stuck on a plane like that.
Maybe if airlines made the seats bigger, it wouldn't be so terrible to wait!

Joining in for the fun! Man, oh man, what a crappy travel day! Looking forward to more!
Welcome!!!

m tried just reading about that travel day. YIKES!!! Thank goodness first day was not a park day. And, congrats to Morgan!!
I kept saying it over and over that I was so glad our first day wasn't a park day.

Day One: Work Day

As I mention in my first post. Today, Andy and I had planned to work remotely today. That way our first park day we would be well rested. And it saved us a vacation day. And man was I glad we had made that plan!!!

We set an alarm for 7:00 AM. So a good 4 hours of sleep. Blek!

Andy and I slowly got up and dressed. We hadn’t really unpacked, so trying to find what we needed was a little chaotic.

I left the room around 8:45, to go find coffee and a place to start working.

I had a client call at 9:00 AM, so I left the room without Andy and hustled to the lobby to try and grab a coffee before my call started.

I made it to the Barcelona Lounge at 8:58... Not alot of time before my call.
But I NEEDED coffee, so I ordered coffee! I ordered a Cafe BonBon Coffee and a Cold Brew Nitro for Andy. Hopped on a call right there in the lounge area.

Cafe Bonbon was delicious! I wouldn’t drink it every day but it was def what I needed this morning. Andy grabbed his cold brew while I was on the call and found a quieter place to work.

I finished up my call. Thankfully that call was with one of our nicer clients! I had a call with my boss to debrief about what I missed yesterday afternoon. Then I headed to where Andy was.

Andy had found a spot in the "hallway" at a hightop table. This used to be the check in area before the tower was built. It was a perfect place to work.

I had a break between meetings, so I have the girls come down and help pick up the groceries.

I walked half way back to the room with the girls but had to go back for another call. I took a few more calls.

This resort was beautiful but confusing section! We were in a perferred room. It was a little village of rooms and super confusing to find the best route to our room! Or maybe we were too tired to think prooperly...

Either way, the girls successfully found the room, unloaded the food and brought the cart back by themselves.

Our little office for the day! I was weirdly excitied about working today. Andy and I had talked about short trips when the girls are in college and doing something like this, working during the day and then heading to a nice dinner after.

Around 11:30 I took a break, grabbed a refillable mug to get some soda. I needed more caffeine!

I also grabbed a Vitamin Shot, Turmeric. I swear by these vitamin shots. I don’t know if they do anything but if nothing else I drink one of these things and mentally they help. I will take it either way. I had actually ordered a few with our groceries.

It was lunch time, and we decided to mobile ordered us Watchos from Ric’s Cafe for lunch. We didn’t want to eat too much as we were going to BOMA for dinner. Watchos hit the spot for us to share. We were able to mobile order and eat them at our work area for the day, which was perfect.

Meanwhile, Morgan and Gwen chilled in the room. They decided to go to Disney Springs for lunch. So, around 12:30 they found the bus stop near our room and headed out.

There first goal... Was to find the outside take out window for Morimoto.

I finished up working and headed back to the room around 2:30. (my day is usually over at 3:00)

Ah, Disney Springs. I stayed at a third party hotel… but I was close enough to Disney Springs where I could sneak off to Disney hotels… including Port Orleans! The Sassagoula River Cruise is an attraction of itself, great on my non-park days instead of cruddy Chinese takeout from outside of Disney.

I have to admit working from a resort doesn't sound too bad!! Though I can't really teach Kindergarten from there :rotfl: Nice that the girls were able to enjoy some Disney Springs time, too, while you got your work done.

That is a good idea as well!

Made it all worth it knowing you had all the fun stuff ahead. Love Boma - hope you had a good dinner!
It def did. I was so tired that working and just sitting wasn't that bad.

Oh my goodness, I just jumped onto your new report and as everyone else has said WOW! 4 hours sitting in a plane waiting for take off after a busy day is wild
Welcome!!! yeah, it wasn't the best travel day but we made it.

Great picture of you guys with your gin and tonics!
Thanks!

e've never tried the PB&J cake from Gideons but your picture convinced me that I need to give it a try.
The Peanut Butter icing was soooo decadant! It was great! Def give it a try if you can!

Ha! That would be a whole different expierence! Gwen is looking to take early childhood education class next year. She is thinking about being a teacher. And she love little kids. I could totally see her be a kindergarten teacher.

Day One: Dinner at BOMA

I left us off with a maybe possible nap... Well, that maybe nap made us leave the hotel later than we should of. I woke up and realized we needed to leave like now!

We left the room at 6:10 and tried to call an uber from the parking lot near our room, but there was no choice to select other than the lobby. So, we hustled to the lobby.

Our uber driver had a hard time getting out of the resort area. The light at Coronado was long! And it was all kinds of backed up. He did say this happens alot. It was a little crazy!

But he made up for it with a sneaky short cut once we were at Animal Kingdom Lodge. there was a big back up there as well. But his short cut helped out alot!

We were brought to a table and waited just a little bit for our waiter to come over and get our drink orders.

And we were headed to get our first plates of food around 7:10.

My first plate: Tamarind-barbecued Pork Ribs, Carved African-spiced Strip Loin, Olive Oil-Herb Crusted Potatoes, some Nut-Crusted Salmon, Zulu Cabbage, curry pasta salad, Tunisian Couscous and Shrimp Salad, fruit and avocado, peanut rice and Chreime Seafood Stew
https://flic.kr/p/2s8f1TZ]My First Plate by https://www.flickr.com/photos/139829364@N03/]Ariella Saucier, on Flickr

Everything was good and I really was going for a tasting of most things to start. I literally took the tiniest amount of the cabbage.

The ribs with the Tamarind BBQ sauce was my favorite. The beef was good but plain on its own. The cabbage tasted like, well, cabbage. I was not a fan.

I didn’t like the avocado fruit combo, each element was fine on it's own but I didn't like them together. Olive Oil Potatoes were excellent. The stew was ok, sometimes they have a curry that is really good. But they did not have it today.

Last time we were here, Gwen stayed at the kids buffet but we made her try one new thing. And she had gone with the bobotie and liked it. So, she went this time with ribs and the bobotie.

Morgan started with meat and meat... I think she grabbed ribs and beef and olive oil potatoes

We all enjoyed dinner! BOMA is a great meal to kick off a vacation! The only issue with BOMA, except for Andy not sure we ate “enough” to make it worth it.

We were done with dinner around 8:30.

Checked out the gift shop while we waited for an uber.

And were back at Coronodo Springs by 8:48. We walked back to the room and called it a night!

We were all tired from the late travel day the day before and even with the little we did today, we were ready for sleep.

Up next our first Park Day!

We've never eaten at Boma because I'm never sure we would eat enough to make it worth the cost either, but the setting looks so beautiful! I'm not surprised you were ready for bed--you all had a LONG night before. Hopefully a great night of sleep and ready for some magic in the morning!

Joining in!

What an awful travel day. I would have hated to be just sitting in the plane for that long. If I have to wait a long time, I definitely would prefer waiting in the airport itself.

Great decision on your part to say one of your vacation days and work from the resort.
It gave you and the rest of the family a nice slow day to recoup from the travel day and be refreshed for your first day in the parks.

I tried Boma's the last time I was at Disney - back in 2014. I didn't care too much for the Zebra domes either. For our family's taste preferences, it was probably a once and done type of restaurant. It was very pleasant place to be and I am glad I experienced it once.

I will be heading back to WDW this August so I know I will be experiencing a lot of new things and restaurants this upcoming trip. I am looking forward to it and enjoy reading your TR to get glimpses into things I might want to do or remember on my trip.

You should go at least once! But I agree. We mostly avoid buffets these days.
