Hi all,
We are hoping to call Disney tomorrow to start making arrangements and pencil in a date. YIPPEE!!!! We would like to find out a few things first and Im sure you are the people to help.
1. We are hoping to arrive on a thursday evening, pick up our marriage licence friday and get married on the monday is this ok or do you have to have a longer residency? (we are coming from the UK)
2. If we have a custom how do they sort out our free night? We are planning to book 7 nights at GF and the night of our wedding is in the middle of this.
3. For those of you that had a custom and paid for characters where did you have them visit? (we have only seen them at the commanders terrace for an intimate) Also can you have the commanders terrace for a custom if your ceremony is at the WP?
4. For a ceremony at the WP when can you confirm your date for an intimate and custom? (ive seen so many different answers to this im still confused)
5. Are you more likely to get a certain date at the WP if you have a custom?
Thankyou all so much for your help:thumbsup2

Congratulations! It wasn't that long ago when I was in your shoes, and so I feel your excitement.

Your plans for marriage license sound fine. I would check if your can receive your license via mail though, instead of wasting a trip to the courthouse (you need all the Disney time you can get!) I recall seeing a thread with a link.

For a wishes/custom wedding, the complimentary night is based on your minimum room blook requirement. 25 room nights is standard unless you have alot of guests coming. I would suggest that you inquire about your minimum when you call Disney.

WP can be reserved 12 months in advance of your date for a custome wedding. Not sure for an intimate.

Have you checked out the Disney wedding website and started a wishbook?

I can help with some of these:
2. For your free night, you can move it around and basically take it when you want. We're staying for our free night the night after our wedding since they upgraded you. If you already plan 7 nights at GF, they would probably just take one night off from payment
4. For the WP, they will pencil you in one year out, however you have to wait until the 8 month mark to go to contract, unless you are having an in park reception, which can be done at the 12 month mark
5. For the WP, there are 5 possible ceremony times and if more than one person in interested in the date/time, then they hold a lottery, so it isn't dependent on your custom/intimate and more on if you are very lucky

I called yesterday to pencil ours in!!! I think you have to have 3 working days residency, I think I read it in the virgin wedding brochure but maybe check with disney when you call them. We are waiting for someone to call us back, the person took our details and said someone would call us back withing 3/4 days.
We are going to book our 14 night holiday then just leave our things in the room and have our wedding night in another room, that way we dont have to pack several times

There is no residency requirement for getting married in Florida for UK residents:thumbsup2 I am getting my marriage licence through the mail, we arrive on Thur and get married on Fri.
