In February I will be taking my grandparents to Walt Disney World for their first trip ever. Growing up in Arizona, Disneyland was a pretty regular thing however ever since they retired to the east coast they have never been down to WDW. While they both are pretty mobile at home, the sheer size of WDW will make it impossible for them to get around effectively. Since we I will have my 2 kids with me we will also have a stroller so pushing two wheelchairs and a stroller is not possible. Therefore I have suggested we get EVCs for both of them while we are at the parks. I know renting an ECV from Disney directly is $50 per day ($100 for two) and looking to an outside vendor is often more cost effective. While they are willing to get an EVC I don't think they will want call attention to themselves when trying to get on and off a bus. We will be staying at BLT, so I am thinking if we did get them from an outside vendor we would have the monorail to access the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. With that in mind where do you normally keep the EVC when you are at your hotel if you use an outside vendor?

Basically, I am looking for some advice from those who have either rented (or traveled with someone who has rented) an EVC from Disney or a vendor and what was your experience like. Would you do the same thing again or something different?

The Disney ECVs can’t be taken out of the park where they were rented.
If you haven’t seen it, there is more information on ECV rental in post 2 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread, including information about places to rent ECVs. That thread is near the top of this board or you can follow the link in my signature.

The biggest advantage of off-site rentals is that the ECV can be used to get around the resort.

Most people do just keep the off-site rental ECVs in their room with them. Most resorts will store an ECV for you at the front desk or at Bell Services. The disadvantage of doing that is you need to go there to pick it up each morning and bring it back when you are done with it for the day.
