We're going to a wedding June 2011 at the DeGray Lake Resort in Arkansas. It just so happens that the next day is our 30th anniversary. We're thinking about where we might like to go from there and Eureka Springs comes to mind.

Anyone have any suggestions/recommendations on places to stay or eat? We will probably go to the Passion Play.

Honestly-most of the motels there are pretty old (I think one Comfort Inn is newer)-some are the old timey 1950's Motor Courts.

There is also a large antique hotel-that i swear reminds me of the Haunted Mansion ride at WDW!:lmao:

South of Branson is this amazing resort....(Not sure how close this is to the lake you are going to-same general vicinity)

I think Mimi is referring to the Crescent Hotel. It is supposed to be haunted. I have never stayed there myself and have heard mixed reviews. Some people love it, some swear it is the worst ever. http://www.crescent-hotel.com/

I have stayed at Big Cedar. It is very interesting, but if you are a creeped out by dead (stuffed, as in taxidermy) animals everywhere you look, try somewhere else. We even had a stuffed raccoon in our room!

We prefer Chateau on the Lake. It is just a little farther down the road toward Branson. http://www.chateauonthelakebranson.com/

Eureka Springs and Branson are each about 4.5 hours from De Gray.

There are some wonderful bed and breakfasts and also new cabins in and around Eureka Springs. The Crescent Hotel is old and supposedly haunted but has been mostly remodeled. At least go see it while you're in Eureka. Also be sure to see the Crystal Chapel. http://www.thorncrown.com/

We have spent time there most years for a long time. There are plenty of interesting shops, good restaurants, beautiful scenery and just general quirkiness to enjoy.

Do you have any particular place you would recommend for us to stay? One that stands out?
