Question about the ET Ride at Universal. I have not had a chance to ride ET for the previous couple of trips. This year I would love to ride it again but I can't remember how the seat arrangements are. DD is 36 inches but she will also only be 2.5 and I just don't know if they were ones that are easy to escape seats? I just don't want her to get scared once it starts and decide that would be a good time to get off or want in my lap :confused3

What do you think? I can do Child Swap so DD 9 will be able to enjoy it. :hippie:

Here's a picture for you...

It's not scary at all, she should be fine on that front. Will she sit still though? I believe there is plenty to keep her attention (again w/o being scary) I would put her between you, you could keep your hand on her leg or shoulder to help if she gets restless.

Hmm, I disagree that it isn't scary. It's LOUD, there are bright bright lights, and people are chasing and trying to catch you/ET. My son doesn't really want to go on it anymore b/c it makes him nervous, and he's 7 and will ride things like Forbidden Journey.

I've loved this ride ever since I was 4. However, please note the first half is about policemen trying to capture you, plus when E.T.'s planet is dying, it can be a little loud. Oh, and wheelchair vehicles are a little bit different. There are 2 normal seats in the front row, then where the other 2 would be is a section for a wheelchair to lock in. Have fun! :wizard:

Random Hijack....

I've noticed the past couple years I've been that all the ride vehicles are of the bike variety, but I could almost swear that I remember when I was a kid and rode it (think early-mid 90's) that they also had some white "spaceship" ride vehicles that you sat on a bench.

Am I crazy, or at one time were there actually 2 different ride vehicle types? If there were, was there a reason they were removed (Beyond just getting old and not worth the expense of maintaining/replacing 2 or 3 unique vehicles)

I must admit that I've never seen any spaceship vehicles.

We are talking early/mid 90's when I last remember seeing them. i haven't seen them the past few years when I've ridden the ride.

I can't seem to find any pictures of them via Google... but I did find other posts with people remembering those ships and trying to find pictures of them. (without any luck).

To give you an idea what they looked like, Imagine the bike vehicles, without the bikes on the platform.

Now using the platform, the back pillar, and the roof, build a full "back" around the pillar to connect the roof and the platform. You'd create rows of benches where the bike rows are now. the side of the vehicle would be about a typical car door height, and the front you would extend slightly to create the same general front end shape as the Spiderman Scoop vehicles. There would be some supports coming from the roof to connect to his front end, again, similar to how a car windshield worked.

For the life of me, I can't remember if each row had it's own door, or if them used a raise/swing open kinda design similar to the Jaws Boats/scoop Vehicles, etc.

I can picture them because I remember seeing them in the cycle (You know... back in the days pre-express and there were 2 lines on the inside that would actually be full.), but I don't think I ever rode one. i do remember thought that they were much easier for disabled or small kids to use than the bike seats.

:rotfl: If it wasn't for the fact I've seen posts from others asking about the same ride vehicles while I've been trying to find any pictures/videos of them online, I'd almost think I was completely nuts.

It probably doesn't help that there aren't a whole lot of ride pictures/videos online from the early days of the attractions, and since it's still running strong, more current items are much more prevalent online.
