We are staying at a resort approx. 8 miles from WDW.

Does anyone know approx. how long we should plan for travel time, parking, then riding the monorail (MK) or any other means of transportation to get into the 4 different parks?

Also, what time do the parking lots open prior to the park opening?

We have only 4 weeks left until we see Mickey!

We can't wait!

Thanks.

In October we stayed at exit 72 on I4 and left at 8:00am for the MK and got there about 8:45am two times. Is it 8 miles from the parking lot or gate? I seem to remember that MK is about 5 miles from the first Disney gate.

We had no traffic on I4. At peak times I imagine that I4 can get very crowded/slow. Maybe someone else can comment on that.

Depending on which road you are on, it could take up to 2 hours. I would allow at least an hour, maybe 90 minutes if you have a ps that you are trying to make....

As the above poster said it all depends on traffic. I would say give yourself at least 90 minutes. Even when you're onsite they suggest giving yourself one hour to get to your destination.

Hope this helps. :D

Always give yourself MORE time to get to MK than the other parks, because once you've parked, you still have to take the ferry or the monorail to get to the MK. At Epcot, MGM, and AK, you only have to park your car and walk to the turnstiles.

several years ago we stayed at a Residence Inn in Kissimme, right on 192. I would quess it was about 10 to 12 miles straight into the MK parking lot. Over the 10 days we were there it took us as little as 30 minutes to get to TTT and as much as 2 hours. The return trip to the hotel was always about 1/2 hour since we always stayed in the park well past rush hour.

I'm going to WDW in February and just last week made my PS's. The CM told me the parking lot at MK opens at 7am (the park opens at 9am). Hope that helps. I'll be staying offsite also and plan to leave very early.

We stayed at the Homewood Suites in Kissimmee in 1/2002 and never had more than a 20 minute drive, parking lot to parking lot.....P

ktozj - You don't say exactly where you are staying, but if it is truly 8 miles away, you're looking at 15-20 minutes drive most likely.

philaround - 2 hours from 192! When was that? Was it during the time they were doing all the construction on 192? Christmas week? You could drive from Kissimmee to Daytona in less than 2 hours.
