Estimate on house job

I wanted to relace the pole in the family room ro a beam in the ceiling, $6000.00 then he said I might need a plummer. That is way to much for me, that darn pole in the middle of the room looks darn good to me right about now.

The only place where I've seen a pole in the middle of the room are places were my wife will no longer let me frequent anymore.

I suggest you place some chairs around the pole, charge admission and watch the dollar bills fly. It will be easy to raise $6000.00.

if you check out the www.DIYnet.com site they just showed how to build a column out of that apparently there is a product that just wraps around it to make it into a pillar. Could be really nice looking

Considering the reason that pole is there is that it must be a load bearing point, I can understand why it would cost that much to do. After all, you don't want your house to fall down because they did it wrong, would you?

Have a pole party! You can sell portions of the poll to friends/family that visit. Maybe you could raise the money!
