As I was settling in for a day of college football, I saw the commercial for ESPN the weekend '06. Wanted to gets everyones thoughts on this event or if anyone has ever attended.
For our last-minute trip this past February, we happened to luck out by being there as ESPN The Weekend was going on at MGM. The highlight for us was the live taping of SportsCenter, although the majority of the show was broadcast at their studios in Connecticut. There were behind-the-scenes shows for Cold Pizza, SportsCenter, and others that we didn't make it to.
We also got a kick out of watching the sports celebrity pairings for the contestants at Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Stuart Scott and Brian Urlacher were riots . I'm ashamed of it now, but I started to pick the wrong answers just to avoid being embarassed in the hot seat.
They would also do interviews with athletes under the Sorcerer Hat, as well as interactive exhibits and games in an open lot behind RNR. It was a blast!
I have made a trip down a couple times during ESPN the weekend. It great to be able to watch the shows being taped and done live. Usually allot of Baseball players (which isnt my fav) But the have a little of everything. You can also find allot of them hanging out at ESPN Zone at the Boardwalk after there shows. We got to meet Woody Paige there last year.
