I am sure that there have been threads about this subject but I would love to put together a list of suggestions for escaping WDW (when you have arrived using DME) to get to restaurants and shopping outside of Disney Property.

The obvious is to use a taxi or rent a car for the day but I am sure that this group of experienced Disney visitors have found other less expensive ways to escape the boundries.

One way I was thinking is that there is a bus that runs from T & T (ticket and transportation center) and goes to the hotels in Lake Buena Vista going toward the Crossroads Shopping Center. However, I don't know which hotels or when it runs (start time and last trip out). If anyone has information it would be greatly appreciated. :surfweb:

You would have also thought that some of the area shopping and dining areas would have been creative enough to offer free transportation from Disney Property to their place of business in order to gain additional business from the stranded visitors that use DME! :scratchin

Other creative suggestions would be welcome.

Cab or renting a car for a day is the way to go. There is a Lynx bus that goes from the TTC to SW. It probably has some stops that might work BUT you'll have to take a Disney bus to the MK, then take a monorail or ferry to the TTC, walk the Lynx stop and then start your trip. TOO MUCH TIME ON VACATION.

Take a Disney bus from your resort to DTD. Walk to Crossgates shopping center. Do you just want water, soda and "fun food"? Hess min-mart has decent prices. You can walk to the DTD Hess, just take the DTD bus to the PI bus stop.

At one time one of the companies, Mears?, had a bus that offered an all day shopping trip. It wasn't cheap and was marketed to foreign visitors that are unable or unwilling to rent a car.

I pretty much agree with Lewisc. I take the bus to DTD, walk over to the Hilton for Avis, Doubletree for Budget and rent a car for about $30 for a day. I'm sure others have their ideas, but that works best for me.

Escape, eh? Well, if you promise not to tell any CMs ... :rolleyes1

We've started 3 tunnels from POFQ, one under each of the ice/vending rooms in buildings 2, 4 and 6. Codenames: Tom, Dick and Harry.
