I'm looking into/planning a 2010 Escape wedding. I'm curious about cakes, and I wondered if any Escape brides could shed some light on the situation for me. I understand there is a standard cake provided to Escape brides and we have some choices about cake type and filling... but past that, what are the upgrade options? Do we have any choice about the design, color, shape of the cake, etc? If we're willing to upgrade/pay can we do something fancier than the normal Escape cake? Can I provide a picture as inspiration for my cake? Details would be super! And, if someone had any sort of pricing breakdown, I'd be incredibly pleased. :woohoo:

Hi! Here is what the standard Escape cake choices look like.

You can pay to upgrade your cake design to one of the Wishes choices or another design you provide, but the price can only be determined by the bakery, so there is no standard upgrade fee. In the past, couples who did this received a $200 credit toward the cost of the upgraded cake, but I don't know if they still do that. For comparison, Wishes cakes start around $400 and go up. However, I've seen Escape brides upgrade their cakes to a custom design for less.

Thanks, Lurkyloo! Very helpful... :thumbsup2 I wanted to make sure I knew the choices before I started looking at upgrades or other ideas.

I love all the new Escape cake options! Thanks for posting Carrie! When we did it there was only one option and I wanted a square cake so we had to upgrade. It cost an additional $265 (and that was 3 years ago) but it was worth it - it was my dream cake! When I first saw it I literally gasped, it was exactly what I wanted. Ours was done by the Wilderness Lodge bakery.

In case any Escape brides happen to be at WDW...you can see models of all of the cakes at the Boardwalk Bakery.

We are having the modern Art Deco cake at our September Escape wedding. Amy (our WP) told me that each layer could be a different flavor at no additional charge! Our top layer is yellow with raspberry mousse and the bottom is chocolate with white chocolate mousse.

We upgraded our cake. We had a chocolate chip cake!! YUM it was so good and only $10 lol!

Your cake actually came from the Grand Bakery.

If the Brides requested design is similar to a new Escape design, then the upgrade cost is minimal. If the Brides design choice has many elements (i.e. gold painted detail, several colors, custom bakery made topper), then this is compared to a similar Wishes design and an upgrade fee is determined. Since the inception of the new Escape cake design package, the request for upgrades had been greatly reduced.
