Saturday, June 15 Part 1 Packing, Check Out, Shopping and the Tragical Express
Sorry, I went almost a week without a post. My sister is getting married tonight so we have had family in all week. I brought Braxton home this afternoon though to take a good nap so that he can be ready to go for the ceremony he is the ring bearer. Bold move by my sister as he is just now entering the Terrible Twos and really likes to run around and scream. He is all boy for sure. So I am probably going to end up being the actual ring bearer while carrying Braxton!
Well, we had just finished our final night and slept until about 7:15. I got myself one final Mickey muffin at the Bakery and finished packing up the room. I went down to check us out at around 9:45 and remembered I had forgotten to pay off some charges with our Disney gift cards the night before. We had about $300 left that I hadnt paid off yet and I knew they were going to charge my card that night, I just forgot to go by and pay it off. It worked out though. I ended up using our leftover cards to pay our cruise deposit for the summer of 2014.
While I was checking out April and my mom left our bags with bell services and we got on a bus to Downtown Disney at about 10:00 am. Our Tragical Express bus wasnt coming until about 2:30 so we were going to do some final shopping and grab some lunch.
Of course we spent some time in World of Disney. I think my mom grabbed a few small things, and April and I decided to get Braxton a snow globe. This is probably something that is relatively inexpensive ($6-$10) that we can get for him on trips every year as a keepsake. I also found a magnet for my office at school. Here is the snow globe we got:
We then stepped into the Basin store, which we hadnt done on our previous trip and it was really cool. They have some good-looking stuff, it is just a little expensive. We then headed over here:
We werent looking for anything specific as Braxton wasnt quite old enough to play with legos yet, but it was fun to look at all of the different sets. We didnt stay long in here as their air conditioner was out and they had brought some portable units in, but it was still close 90 in there and there was no air circulation.
As we were heading back to get something to eat Braxton fell asleep in the stroller. He is one exhausted little boy!
We were heading back to lunch at Earl of Sandwich. We had taken Aprils mom on our arrival day, but now wanted to take my mom and we all loved it again. Braxton woke up not long after we got there because of the commotion of the restaurant. We had to sit on the patio, because it was so crowded, but it was fine. Braxton enjoyed his lunch.
After lunch we went into the Once Upon A Toy shop and Braxton found a huge Tigger doll that he wanted. He has one just like this at Gigis house so we didnt get it for him I know, bad parents.
April and I also built these two droids to give to Aprils two twin nephews who had a birthday while we were gone. There was also a fantastic cast member working here that helped us figure out some of the pieces we were struggling with. She was in a wheel chair, but wanted nothing other than to make sure we had the perfect droids. She was the epitome of what Disney cast members should be, and I am a little disappointed in myself that I didnt write her name down in my notes. Anyways if you are ever in this store and need anything she is fantastic and will do whatever she can to help you. Here are our droids:
After making the droids we headed over to Ghiardellhis for some dessert. I had the brownie sundae and it was fantastic and April just got a cup of ice cream. She ate some of the sundae as well and loved it as much as me. Our final stop before heading back to the Boardwalk was the Christmas Store to find some ornaments. We like to buy an ornament each year. This year we ended up deciding on a four pack. They are very cool looking in how they represent the Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and Minnie.
After finishing up with the ornaments we headed to the Marketplace bus stop and waited about 5 minutes. The Downtown Disney buses are so bad to the Boardwalk as they serve all five resorts. Also, we witnessed something terrible on this bus ride. A boy who was maybe 12 years old was sitting next to his Dad and the bus was getting crowded at the Pleasure Island stop. The boy got up to walk across the aisle to ask his mom something and a lady who was carrying a baby got on the bus took his seat, not knowing someone had been sitting there. The dad, who was still sitting down, then surprised me. He proceeded to tell his son, you never give up your seat you have to take care of yourself. I was appalled that this father was telling his son to just look out for himself instead of maybe teaching him a lesson about thinking of others and giving up his seat for this lady who was carrying a baby. I am not trying to be judgmental, but I teach teenagers all day every day in my job and see selfishness and looking out for only yourself as being the biggest problem in our society. If people would just think of others instead of themselves the world would be a much better place.
Sorry for the rant! We got back to the Boardwalk at around 1:50 and had about 45 minutes before our bus arrived. I had been looking for a polo that said Disney World. The best option I had found the entire trip was in the gift shop down on the Boardwalk, so I went down to decided whether to get it or not. I eventually found that and a hat that I liked and purchased them before heading back up to wait on the Magical Express bus. Here is the polo:
