Escape From Craziness Part II to Fireworks, Food and A DVC Tour - A June 2018 Trip Report - Completed 3/30

We love the Yacht Club. It is our new favorite. The rooms are great, the pool is great, the location is great.

We love it too! It was great in almost every way. The quick service spot leaves a little to be desired, but other than that we love it too!

Seems logical to me...

We may or may not be keeping them in there to preserve our sanity a bit! haha

Day 7 - Part 5 - This Patio is Going to be Awesome

We stayed at Stormalong Bay until about 6:30 at which point we went in and got on some dry clothes before heading over to Hurricane Hanna’s for some dinner. DS6 continued his journey to watch lizards on our way!

We ordered and found a table around on the side of the building to enjoy our food.

Of course they couldn’t sit still so they went to playing and DS2 lost his shoe. If you know him at all this is a major problem. This kid never goes without shoes...anytime...anywhere! haha

I also got a shot of the menu at Hurricane Hanna’s while we were deciding what we wanted!

DS6 just got chicken nuggets, but it is pretty cool here that it comes in a bucket that we can then take over to the pool.

The chicken in this was actually of pretty good quality and DS6 ate every bite of it. We didn’t get DS2 a kids meal because he had only been eating french fries, but I think DS6 shared one chicken nugget with him and he actually ate it! I was going to go order him his own kids meal once we saw he ate the chicken, but he said, “I just want french fries.” DW then added, “I think fries are the only meal you’ve eaten on this trip so far!”

I ended up getting the Bacon Cheeseburger:

This was just ok. I wasn’t the normal “pre-prepared” burger patty you get most places, the meat was actually fresh, which is great. It was actually just way overcooked though and not seasoned extremely well. This would have been a good burger if it had been cooked well. Also, there was only one piece of bacon on this, which I would think it should have at least two. It was okay, just not great.

DW got the Grilled chicken sandwich on a pretzel roll and she loved it. She said the pretzel roll was really good and she would definitely get it again!

And of course some fries for DS3!

We were done eating by around 7:10 and headed back to the room. Not before we saw a duck exiting the pool!

We got back to the room and the plan for tonight was to make sure everyone got a good night's rest. The boys needed it and I have written down that they were out by 7:40. With them asleep DW and I enjoyed sitting on the patio which was nice. Sometimes in rooms you can’t even talk after they go to sleep, so this was nice for us to still be able to hang out and talk to each other some after they slept. DW said that the patio was going to be awesome throughout the week.

I went down to the lobby to fill our mugs at one point and took a few pictures in the lobby and hallway.

Overall it was a great park morning and just some fun and relaxation this afternoon before our first night at the Yacht Club.

DS6 just got chicken nuggets, but it is pretty cool here that it comes in a bucket that we can then take over to the pool.

So that's where all those buckets come from! I noticed so many of the same design and this makes so much more sense!

Day 8 - Part 1 - Only One Track at Toy Story...Is It Worth It?

After a great night's rest and an early bedtime we were up and at ‘em this morning. Hollywood Studio had an early 8 AM opening time and we planned on getting a run in on Toy Story as it was the last day before it closed for a few weeks in preparation for the opening of Toy Story Land...yes our trip was that long ago! Haha

We were out of the room at 7:05 to fill our water bottles, DS6 was especially peppy this morning!

We got out to the bus stop at about 7:10 as the boat was not sailing to Hollywood Studios during our trip due to bridge construction. Yes, DS2 was eating pringles for breakfast...don’t judge us, we are at Disney World!

When we got to the bus stop at 7:10 the sign said a Hollywood Studios bus was coming at 7:17, so we took a few pictures:

The bus finally came at 7:23. We were quickly over to Hollywood Studios and after traversing security and the park entrance we were inside at 7:50. The crowds were pretty big this morning!

Our first goal was to get over to Toy Story, unfortunately a lot of the other people had that idea too, but we had done this before, so all would be good...or so we hoped! We were in line by 8:05...DS2 was so excited he just had to stick his tongue out!

While in line we passed right by the original entrance to the ride and those doors were not open, so we knew this would be a weird experience.

For about the next 20 minutes we moved slowly through a line outside of the Toy Story building trying to figure out why this was taking so long. DS6 took advantage of a Star Wars sign in line:

The line was just winding all over the street, crossing the street, then back across to the other side, it was strange.

DS6 also got to get a picture with Dinoco in line:

We finally got inside of the building at 8:25, through a backstage looking door, and figured out why it took so long...they only had one of the three ride tracks loading. They had advertised this as the last day to ride before the transition to the Toy Story Land entrance in a couple of weeks, but it was kind of strange that they were going to operate with only one track all day, but it appeared that way. Anyway, loading was dreadfully slow because of that, but by 8:35 we were on the ride and had a great time!

The boys loved it, especially DS6.

The line was even more crazy as we got out of the ride:

It was a longer wait than normal at rope drop, but it was nice to get to do Toy Story once more before Toy Story Land, which we have still never seen! But hey, we’ll fix that this coming summer!

Up Next: A Cheese Filled Pretzel...Yes Please!​

Day 8 - Part 2 - A Cheese Filled Pretzel...Yes Please!

After Toy Story we were all a bit hungry as we hadn’t stopped to eat yet, and we saw the cart that had pretzels with cream cheese in them…”umm, yes please!” I mean who could turn that down.

We got a regular Mickey pretzel with cheese for the boys to share, they enjoyed it!

DW and I had a cream cheese pretzel and it was awesome! One of our favorites snacks at Disney World!

We were ready to head off, although not sure what DS2 was trying to do in his stroller here:

We also walked by this cool sign...can’t wait for this ride! I think it’s going to be awesome!

Our next stop was inside the Launch Bay. DS6 had someone he wanted to meet before the lines got to long, this guy:

DS6 was just getting into Star Wars at this point and he liked Kylo Ren. He was a little scared during this meet, but afterwards he said that was awesome!

After the meet we looked around the Launch Bay. DS6 loved all of the artifacts, especially the lightsabers and the Darth Vadar mask.

We headed out of here at about 9:25. So the meet with Kylo only took us about 5 minutes at that point in the morning and we then spent about 20 minutes wandering around the exhibits and shop.

We headed down the street towards Rock and Roller Coaster and saw these guys on the way!

While DW and DS6 rode the ride I took DS2 and we looked around in a couple gift shops and to let him run around a bit:

While we were waiting DW and DS6 had a great time. Rock ‘n Roller Coaster is a favorite ride of both of them.

We also got a quick photopass picture on our way back down Sunset Boulevard.

They were done by 9:55 and we headed back across the park but saw some people lining up for something and DS6 got curious, so stay tuned!

Day 8 - Part 3 - “What Are They Waiting in Line For?”

It was about 10:00 at this point and we were walking through the hub...can we call it that at Hollywood Studios? I don’t even know! We walked by the stage and people were starting to line up for the Stormtrooper show and DS6 asked, “What are they waiting in line for?” As much as I wanted to not see this show for the fourth time in two days DW and I decided to get a spot and let him watch since we were right next to the stage. So, we lined up ourselves and waited a few minutes for it to start.

Finally, these guys arrived and did their thing.

We had fun and DS6 loved being that close. After the show we headed over so me and DS6 could use a FP at Star Tours.

After our ride it was time to head over for our lunch ADR at our favorite dine in theatre!

We got seated pretty quickly here which was so much better than last time and got ready for our food.

After ordering our waiter dropped off this card, which is super thoughtful of the cast members here! I guess the My Disney Experience app told them we’d been before? Or maybe the hostess as they usually ask if this is your first time dining there. Either way it was cool.

I don’t have many food pics here since it is always kind of dark, but I did snap a shot of the onion rings.

These were just ok. It was almost like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. They weren’t that hot either, but the Thai Chili sauce they had was great.

I got the Turkey Croissant for my meal and liked it. It had an avocado aioli on it, which I wished there had been a little more of, for it was good. The fries were excellent today too! DW order the Sci Fi Burger. She loved it and said it was way better quality than any of the quick service burgers and that is was cooked really well for her. DS6 got mac ‘n cheese and ate it all. DS2 got penne pasta with tomato sauce. I think he was just finally to his quota on french fries so he tried another go to for him.

We enjoyed our meal here for the most part and will definitely be back.

After lunch we were going to head out for some rest time, but saw a photopass photographers so we had to stop.

With that it was about 12:15 and time to head out of the park for the morning!

I know! I am the worst trip reporter ever! haha

We literally cannot wait! The boys are so excited too. On our last trip it was the 3rd trip in a year and by the last trip the boys were excited, but not like on the edge of their seats excited. This time it will be a lot of days of asking, "Are we going to Disney World yet!"

Day 8 - Part 4 - “I Got a Millennium Falcon!”

We were headed out of the park, but DS6 had earned some more money with good behavior so we stopped because he had seen something he wanted. All of the Star Wars stuff the last two day shad him wanting one of these:

He told about four people on the bus, “I Got a Millenium Falcon” as he was hugging the box all the way back to the resort. We also had a great experience checking out with this with cast member Theresa. She talked to the boys for several minutes about Star Wars and was super friendly. Then at the end she gave them both about five stickers. It was a very magical interaction!

We got the bus stop at about 12:25 and waited a good 10 minutes for a bus to the Yacht Club. For those just tuning in this was during a period when the boats weren’t running due to bridge construction by the Swan and Dolphin. When we got back DS6 and I went over to the market to fill the mugs before heading for a little swimming time.

He and I had another great time swimming while DW and DS2 had a great time napping!

We even stopped and got a rice krispie treat on our way back to the room!

We got back to the room at about 2:45 and let DS6 rest for about an hour. At 4:00 we headed to the bus stop for our evening in the parks and the TV said the Magic Kingdom bus would arrive at 4:16 which we thought was a little long. A bus came at 4:11 although the TV never switched and still said one was coming at 4:16. So maybe they were just taking care of us! We were off on our 25 minute ride to the Magic Kingdom.

After a stop at the Beach Club, we arrived at 4:35 and headed into the park. We waited for DW for a few minutes while she took the bag through bag check. Of course DS6 wanted me to take his picture with popcorn in his teeth!

Crazy kid:

After getting inside at 4:40 we were going to ride the train around to Frontierland. Both our boys love trains. Now days DS6 acts as if he’s a little too old, but on this trip he was into it. He loved the train station!

We arrived in Frontierland at 4:55 and DW and DS6 had a FP for Big Thunder Mountain. DS2 and I went with them to grab a FP and we headed over for a FP of our own here:

We had a great ride. Of course DS2 wanted us to get wet!

I think DW worked on this collage for Instagram while she was in line at Big Thunder.

Back over on Magic Carpets we were having a great ride.

DS2 wanted us to get spit on by the camel, but then was pretending to be scared when we got to the part of the ride! Silly boy!

We were all done and met back up at about 5:10 for some dinner. Where would it be? Hint: One of my favorites!

Day 8 - Part 5 - Dinner & Dole Whips

We headed in for dinner at 5:15 PM. I’m not sure if anyone else likes this place as much as I do, but I still really enjoy it!

Of course the toppings bar is the main reason why and it pairs perfectly with the Fajita Plate. So, that is what I got and I had my normal contest to see how much of the delicious fajitas and stuff from the toppings bar that I could stuff into a tortilla!

DW got just an order of chips and queso. DW doesn’t love the beef that comes on the normal nachos and so this is what she likes. It does cost $5.99 which is a little high for what you get but with the toppings bar I think you more than make up for that and get your money's worth! They also probably charge more for just chips because they don’t want people coming in and buying a basket of chips for $2 or something and then just using the toppings bar!

We got a kids nachos and a ride and beans kids meal for the boys to split:

DS6 ate some of the nachos and not much of the rice and beans. DS2 ate some of the rice and beans, but not much. He ended up eating more nachos too. So, in the future one basket of nachos is probably enough for them as it is pretty good size and they both liked the guacamole from the toppings bar.

After dinner DS6 and I went to use the child swap I had picked up earlier for Big Thunder and had a great ride!

After we got done we met back up with DW and DS2 and found some dancing bears that came out in the street in Frontierland. We spent about 15 minutes watching them.

Even Clara Bell was there!!

At one point DS6 got taken out by a cast member to dance with the characters and much to our shock and astonishment he actually went! He’s usually super shy and I never would have thought he would have gone in a million years. But he did. They kind of did a line that paraded around and he did that! I videoed it, but don't know how to insert it here.

Here he was after dancing though:

The dancing had worked up a appetite for some dessert and what do you know, there was a little shop around the corner that serves up some pretty tasty treats.

It was Dole Whip time!

Day 8 - Part 6 - A Rainy Night in the Magic Kingdom

After Dole Whips we headed over for our next FP at Seven Dwarfs mine train for DW and DS6. They had a great ride and DS2 and I did Winnie the Pooh at the same time.

Just after they finished with Seven Dwarfs they announced there was lightning in the area so I couldn’t use the child swap with DS6, but we thats ok. We headed on around towards Tomorrowland and it started pouring about 30 seconds after we got in the Tea Cups line...I mean pouring. So of course me were in line for the Tea Cups while DW tried to get under the awning and get the stroller cover on.

We finished the ride and decided to just embrace the rain. The sudden downpour earlier already had us all pretty wet.

This turned out to be one of my favorite pictures of the trip! It was just one of those very memorable Disney moments!

We donned the ponchos and headed to Tomorrowland. We got the stroller parked under some cover and jumped on the TTA. It was a great ride talking about how wet we were and looking out on the rain falling around the Magic Kingdom.

While we were riding the TTA the rain subsided and we headed over towards Space Mountain as DS6 and I had a FP for this one. It took us about 15 minutes to ride. DW and DS2 had a FP at Buzz Lightyear at the same time, which was another good way of keeping everyone busy!

After this is was still sprinkling a bit so I didn’t take many pictures, but we did head back over to Seven Dwarfs, which had re-opened, so DS6 and I could use the child swap pass. We had a great ride as it was still just raining slightly. By this time it was 8:45 and we hadn’t planned to staying too late tonight so we headed out. The rain had stopped by now so a few night shots in the Magic Kingdom:

We got outside and saw the Electrical Water Pageant on the water! This is one thing we have never seen in all of our trips. I mean we’ve seen it in passing like this going across the other side of the lake, but never have we seen it at a resort or something and watched it with the soundtrack.

We got to the bus stop at 8:55 and waited until 9:10 for a bus, but once we were on one we were back at the Yacht Club by 9:30. We put the kids to bed and then wanted to walk over to the Beach Club Marketplace to see what kind of treats they had for DW and myself. Stormalong Bay is so awesome at night!

And then this in the lobby of the Beach Club:

I ended up deciding on one of these delicious looking Chocolate Chip Muffins and took it back for DW and me to enjoy.

It was about 10:45 after we had refilled our mugs and sat on the patio for a bit talking while the boys slept away! We eventually went inside and went to bed. We weren’t planning on a rope drop the next morning, but did have one of our most favorite breakfast reservations at about 10:30. So we still had to get up and going, just not as early as a rope drop morning!

And you are in good company-i spent the weekend writing up the trip I took last Feb!

We literally cannot wait! The boys are so excited too. On our last trip it was the 3rd trip in a year and by the last trip the boys were excited, but not like on the edge of their seats excited. This time it will be a lot of days of asking, "Are we going to Disney World yet!"

Oh I know! I’m taking about a 1.5 yr break from WDW after March, and so much stuff will be new, I’m looking forward to the break! (Though I still have Disneyland nearby, so not a full disney break)

Day 9 - Part 1 - “Where’s My Magic Band?”

After spending a night in Magic Kingdom last night we weren’t planning on waking up in time to get to rope drop today, so we slept a little bit. Of course these guys woke DW and I up and were ready to do something by about 9:00. But hey, that’s pretty late for us! We all got ready to go to one of our favorite breakfasts, although DS2 decided he needed soem bigger shoes!

DS6 was also ready to go today!!

Before long we were heading out.

And looking at this on our way:

And after a short walk the International Gateway was in sight:

And a big crane working on the Ratatouille ride.

We headed into Epcot at about 10:00 and spent a little time walking through the UK and Canada on our way to breakfast at 10:30. So, here’s just a few random shots we took on the walk over.

And finally, after about a 15 minute walk we arrived at our destination:

Up Next: One of the Strangest Meals Ever​

Day 9 - Part 2 - One of the Strangest Meals Ever

We had a reservation for one of our favorite places at 10:30 and checked in at about 10:20.

We were seated right away and given this to look over...not that you have many choices here! haha

Before too long we were greeted by our server, who had one of those blue name tags...so we thought, this is going to be awesome! More on that later. He was super friendly and dropped off our sticky bun and let’s just say we took care of it in record time!

And we loved it so much DW made a collage of the sticky bun situation!

About 11 seconds after he sat it down the dish looked like this:

It was about this point that the boys noticed we were moving and they became really enamored with that. DW and I were like, “Boys, we’ve eaten here about three times since you were born and you just now noticed that?” I’m sure we point it out every time and they act like they couldn’t care less and now they realize it on their own and voila, they think it’s the best thing ever. Oh kids...

Between our main dish and the sticky bun Chip stopped by to have some words with the boys. The kids have a lot of fun with the characters here all the time. I think it's a particularly good character meal for boys!

After chip our food platter came along with the sauces that they give you.

Let me just say the food was very good, of course we always love the bacon and sausage. Of course one thing I love here is that homemade salsa. It is spectacular and it makes the eggs and tater tots so good!

While we were eating DS6 turned into a horticulturalist...oh wait I’m sure he is just pointing out that we are moving again.

Next up Pluto arrived and we had fun with him sneaking up on DW while she was eating! It was a super fun meet!

Then, right after Pluto, was the main man himself. DS6...I hope he’ll never be too old to want to see Mickey!

Mickey even decided to play around with them a little bit and it made DS2 laugh...a lot! I mean the character interactions here are always just awesome!

Finally, Dale stopped by and the boys had a good time seeing him. DS2 called him Chip of course and so Chip showed him the red nose. It was cute!

Now, to finish things off. The food was excellent and our server was very friendly. But I think he was just a little off and might have had too many tables. We never one time got a refill on our drinks, even after asking. Again, it’s not that he wasn’t polite or anything, I think he was just a little overworked. Also, I gave him my Tables in Wonderland card before he did the bill and he came back and asked how old DS2 was. At these meals you only pay once they turn three, so I think he must have been charging him on the ticket, but wanted to make sure, which we appreciate.

I told him DS2 was indeed two and he said, “I’m not sure what I’ve done to this thing.” This was while he was holding about three checks and looking at them trying to figure things out. He apologized and said he’d be right back and for about the next 15 minutes we saw him hurrying around to different tables, still holding 3-4 checks in his hand trying to figure things out. Finally, he came back over and said he was so sorry and that he wasn’t sure what he had done and that he was taking care of the meal for us. So, it wasn’t a bad experience overall, with the exception of not getting refills, but it was just strange. And we still don’t know what was going on with those tickets. I mean how hard can it be when you either charge a person as an adult or as a child? Anyways, we’ll just chalk it up to a strange meal, but it was thoughtful of him to comp our meal however he made that happen.

Anyways, with our belly’s full we headed over for a spin on Soarin’. DW and DS6 went first and then DS6 and I went with the child swap pass.

Up Next: Welcome Home...For the Next 50 Years​

I’m not sure if anyone else likes this place as much as I do, but I still really enjoy it!

This has become one of our go to places to eat in MK. This past trip (December) they had a cauliflower Tacos that were soooo good! I hope they are still there next week.

Mickey even decided to play around with them a little bit and it made DS2 laugh...a lot! I mean the character interactions here are always just awesome!

My girls aren't dying to meet characters but I think they do like it once they are doing it.

I told him DS2 was indeed two and he said, “I’m not sure what I’ve done to this thing.” This was while he was holding about three checks and looking at them trying to figure things out. He apologized and said he’d be right back and for about the next 15 minutes we saw him hurrying around to different tables, still holding 3-4 checks in his hand trying to figure things out. Finally, he came back over and said he was so sorry and that he wasn’t sure what he had done and that he was taking care of the meal for us. So, it wasn’t a bad experience overall, with the exception of not getting refills, but it was just strange. And we still don’t know what was going on with those tickets. I mean how hard can it be when you either charge a person as an adult or as a child? Anyways, we’ll just chalk it up to a strange meal, but it was thoughtful of him to comp our meal however he made that happen.

Strange. But at least he made up for it. Your pics make me want to give it a try.
